Maatta is 29, and Petry is 36...I'd stick with Maatta and let Petry go.
The reason they would move maatta is because he would be easier to move. He actually had a little value. Petry is at the end of his ropes.

That’s a solid D- Core right there and lots of different combos that could be used. We also could potentially look at running 8 D and sign some like Barrie Or Deangelo for cheap to run a PP.

Petry makes an acceptable 7th def. Not a good one. Holl makes a decent water boy or baggage carrier
Heres where ive been complaining about copp and compher contracts. He’s definitely a player of need.

Bad news on Holl though. I can't see us moving on. 4 years of dead cap doesn't make sense nor does attaching a draft pick. Maata and Fabri already have replacements available. If we need cap space those are the likely guys. Hull is going to be that 8th defenseman Yzerman was alluding too.
Holl played in 2 or 3 games after the all star game. He is gone.
I'm honestly open to Matt Roy, but I also haven't given a lot of thought to many of the free agents out there right now. A lot can change between now and 1 July, after all. While it can be fun to peruse the list of potential free agents, that list will definitely evolve, and I'm not one to have my hopes dashed. But that's just me.
Roy would be a good addition. But wouldn’t it be tough to get him. As for holl it would be really hard to move him. I think a buyout would be a decent move. Not so much for cap. But for the roster spot.
What does everyone think of Kaapo Kakko as Kanes replacement? If he doesn't work out for RW2 this year, he's your long term RW3 with Ras and Comp... Seems like a good situation to me.

Can you have too many Michelin boys in the lineup? The Montreal Canadiens found that retaining too many French Canadiens on the roster was a problem. Too much media coverage. Those players were stressed out. Affected their productivity.
thoughts on a trade for zegras, at 5.75 AAV in my opinion he’s worth it to fill that top 6 spot

and Anaheim has the cap space to dump holl
Zegras isn’t a 200’ player. Newzie and, most importantly, Yzerman, would never put up with his game. He only wants to score highlight-type goals. Watch any of his games and you’ll notice that he’s terrible backchecking and you’ll never see him fighting puck battles. Definitely not a fit.
I am tired of the fact I am always seeing the Michigan connection when we have a few forwards in GR who can push for a roster spot and what type of rebuild is SY thinking when they are not giving the players who can show they are ready and they are blocked because of FA acquisitions that don’t usually work because the Coach and SY and his micro managing overpaid players who are not good enough I’m not talking about Roy but Ras, Copp and Veleno who should all be traded and then we have overpaid Dmen and all the others who can be moved but taking back cap and not having enough to afford anything else but we have had on young players who was actually given minutes in Edvinson and Bergs sent down because the coach is not good enough to get the team to get to the playoffs, because saying Bergs Defense was not enough but they have Ghost, Kane and Sprong oh Petry was terrible until Edvinson made him look okay? Get rid of the 30+ players and rebuild the team the right way and stop wasting time and losing the younger players because he doesn’t want to have to pay them if they play good or great, and he wants to wait until they are all out of waiver options before they can get a chance. Kane and pokey Perron I can see Kane get what he wants and get injured a quarter of a season in.
