Watched this video, installed a $12 ebay carb on an old mower that has been sitting for years-it started and runs. Great video.

Agree. great video. I got a carb for around $10 on amazon. My old mower had sat unused while I moved to electric, but the battery isn't holding a charge as well, so I wanted the gas mower as backup. I found that mice had made a home by the magneto! Cleaned it up nice, replaced spark plug, air filter, and the carb and it started! Oil looked ok but need to monitor that. I sharpened the blade and for less than $25 bucks (compared to $110 for new battery) I have my backup.

Followed this step by step, took me all of 25 minutes to change out the carburetor. Easy, step by step instructions...

Thank you! I ordered a kit that had the carburetor, the primer base, air filter, gaskets, O-ring, and a spark plug. When we got everything put back together, it took about 20 minutes of priming to get gas into the carburetor. I was getting a bit worried but it finally started. This mower has always needed a lot of priming but this was crazy!

My lawn mower was really laboring. I tried cleaning out the carburetor with some spray and that did nothing. But, after getting the carburetor kit and then following this video it started on the first pull and ran perfectly. So thank you

That "knock knock knock" at the start of the video scared the shit out of me. Considering how far from people I live, it was frightening.

I wish there was a clearer view of how the linkage connects to the black plastic thing on the carburator. On my mower which is otherwise identical to this one, it is anatomically impossible to connect the linkage to the carburator and I can find no other videos

I know this comment is a year old, but just in case it helps anyone: I came here with the same problem. I put a tiny amount of WD40 in the hole, and was able to gently pressure it around the bend in the linkage

You had your mitt in the way so I couldn’t see how to to re-attach the linkage.

Good video but you never show how to take off and reinstall the spring governor

My mower was running rough; firing up and then stopping, or running like it was about to stop. I replaced the carburetor with a new one and now it doesn't run at all. I checked the fuel line and everything is flowing with no leaks. I don't know what else to do - buy a new lawn mower?

Sorry to hear this. My mower was sputtering n dying yrs ago and I moved to electric. But just resurrected old gas mower as backup. I just replaced the carburator, plug, n air filter for less then 25$ and it worked. did you try replacing the spark plug? It might also be the magneto, which I tried first replacing years ago. that got the motor started, but then it died because I guess my carburator was bad. Try replacing the magneto (I forget how much that cost) and the spark plug. If you've done all that and it still won't start, probably best to invest in a new mower. I like the cordless electric but my battery on my Joe mower isn't keeping a great charge after 4 yrs, hence my getting the gas one to work as backup. good luck.
