    Edit : brakes could be better by the way, they require quite a heavy foot!

      You should use the paddles to increase regen and that assists with braking. That is how it is meant to be used.

    I had the pleasure of a test drive of the new ZRV a few weeks ago. I have to say it’s a fabulous mid size suv and it has the same performance as my current 21 plate CRV hybrid that being 2.0 L 184bhp with 315 Nm of torque the only real difference it’s a brand new engine that comes from the civic. Also the ECVT is better well that’s my opinion in essence it has no transmission it really a direct drive vehicle. I’m due to place my order on the 21/03/2024 that being the Advance model with all the bells and whistles. I have had m CRV for 3 years not one problem and still rattle free and a very relaxing drive. I also had a look at the new CRV it’s absolutely a stunning vehicle just WOW yes all Honda cars are expensive but in my opinion a massively overlooked brand in the car world as I only see a few CRV’s on the road and have only seen 2 new ZRV’s. I would urge anyone looking for a new car please visit a Honda showroom and have a test drive and only then will you then realise why have given Honda a glowing reference.

    Good review. My bugbear is cheap feeling rotary controls. They get even looser and cheaper feeling after some use too. Too much plastic in the mechanism like the shaft (used to be metal). Same for home audio kit with loose cheap feeling rotary controls common there.

    Nice review. Non irritating (some voices really bother me!) and straight to the point without waffle. Interested in getting one and it was good to get your perspective on it. It appears very well specced, has a good quality interior (front seats look better than my Lexus IS), but my main concern is height. I just need to know whether it has a proper SUV feel, and is visibility better than in a standard height car? Thanks Paul

      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks very much Paul. It does feel higher than a standard car but the best way to judge is to pop doen to a showroom and take a look. I don't think you'd be dissapointed with the ride height.

    Honda's new pricing strategy in the UK and Europe is a bit odd. I read they want to sell lower volumes but they are obviously putting the prices up to attempt to maintain a similar profit margin. Not really good for the potential buyer as with the higher prices and high interest rates they can look like poor value compared with competitors. The ZR-V is the HR-V in the US and that was the market it was originally designed for, so a compact SUV which explains the small boot etc. I believe they think that some current CR-V owners will choose this over the new CR-V which is priced £45k+. But with the poor practically in comparison I can't see that being the case. Will be interesting to watch Honda sales in the next couple of years and see whether this high pricing strategy continues.

    Just got my sport 100 percent but im a big bloke and the driver position is a bit awkward but I suppose I'll get use to it after a week or so

    I'd have to agree regarding the styling Jim. But still, it's a Honda, so it'll be well built, reliable, and will hold it's value well. As you pointed out, the boot space is limited in it's capacity for an SUV (isn't luggage/dog/kid space one of the reasons SUV's sell?). But hey, it's a Honda, and some will buy it because of that alone......It looks a little shiny/plasticky inside Jim, but maybe that's the lighting in the video? Competition in the £40k SUV market is fierce, and personally I can't see this Honda taking too big a share of the cake.

    I wonder how much the panoramic sunroof contributes to cabin noise and whether one without a sunroof (not available in Australian models) might be quieter.

      Same here. I've had a few Honda bikes over the years, and they're up there with the best. I no longer ride bikes, yet It's never crossed my mind to try a Honda car...... I can't say the styling appeals enough to convince me to try one. If I wanted or needed this type and size of car at the price it is, I'd look at the Skoda Karoq, with maybe £2 to £3k's worth of extras, and it would probably still be 3 or 4 grand short of this Honda's price......

    I have the 2023 ehev CRV only done 3000 mls and find it suffers from tyre noise on coarse road surfaces.Does the ZRV have same problem.cheers

      I don't find it an issue on the CRV so I'm not the best person to ask - if I noticed anything like that it would be in the video

    This exact same car is on sale now in New Zealand for UK27000 without the sunroof but otherwise identical. (NZD55000 brand new).

    I've just changed my honda for another honda . The tech and features have improved but the quality in places is cheaper. Still a great vehicle but a touch disappointing that standards have been compromised. It's been back to the dealer a few times which didn't happen with the first one.

      Ever increasing manufacturing costs, along with the need to remain competitive in the market mean that short cuts are now inevitable. Most car makers are guilty of it in one form or another.....

  • @mikadavies660

    I see both Honda and Stellantis deciding that their cars are suddenly worth more! As if £40,000 was nothing!! Shame these manufacturers don't appreciate that as well as inflation, many people haven't seen a pay increase in 5 or 10 years! Money is tight and £40k is too much. Fleet and lease companies are buying new. I think people are holding off or only buying second hand. There are also a lot of very well priced second hand EVs making the option of cheap running costs within reach of people. New car for £40k or Second hand EV for £20k.... I know where my money is going.

    Liked review, But!!! No information about the boot space. I'm a wheelchair user, I would have liked to know more about size.
    Us people are always overlooked. Over 20 billion pounds each year, but car reviewers never see this hidden money, yet we contribute to the car market over 2 billion in this cost, just to get around. Please think about us..... Brian

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Brian, the review tells you how many litres of space there is; you can look measurements up online easily enough, and as wheelchairs come in all shapes and sizes that seems like a better idea than listening to my best guess on the length of a piece of string. My review is about what the car is like to drive, how well-equipped it is etc, I can't cater to everyone's needs as a one-man crew - perhaps a comment you could aim at those with a TV-like production team but a bit harsh on me probably. I actually do often reference wheelchair users in various things like when talking about electric car chargers and parking bay lighting and access etc so you're not forgotten with me but I simply can't make a review that's everything to all people with the limited time I have. I also get grief from caravaners and farmers sometimes for not mentioning certain things but without being one myself (caravaner, a farmer, or wheelchair user) just how worthwhile would my guesswork-based opinion actually be?? If the boot is huge an abundantly clear that is would accommodate a wheelchair I sometimes mention it (but it's stating the obvious) but if I have no real idea I don't.

      @DefinitelyNotAGuru Thanks for your reply, I wasn't giving you a hard time.
      My apologies if you you thught that, I'm very interested in this car, regarding measurements. I searched the Internet. Just Ltr. Volume as you said.
      No length or width, height in measurements, not even on the honda dimensions. It's just the little details that help. Do the doors open wide, easy access and a transfer height on get from chair to seat, a little mention, would help a lot of people. Loved the review on the drive. Thanks Brain

    Boot size is a blocker for me

  • @richfixescars
    @richfixescars 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What a really small boot, spoils an otherwise interesting car. A Civic is cheaper, has the same drivetrain and a bigger boot.

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Civic is a great package, this is a very nice car that shares a lot with it but the Civic wins for me.

      A rather small boot in what is meant to be a family SUV, seems a major design flaw

    Seems a bit pointless. The HRV is just as well packaged, magic rear seats, looks better, cheaper and all in a more compact package.
