I also think that Xiao’s story is meant to parallel Roland’s story to an extent. Both make a promise to their significant others to not go mad with grief if either of them were to die, yet when their significant others do die, they are driven with a desire for some kind of revenge. I think that the main difference in their arcs is their ability to move on. Even though Xiao awoke to an EGO, her focus on recovering Lowell’s book leads to her death (like how Roland’s quest for revenge leads him to his death in the bad ending). Yet, in the true ending, Roland is able to see the pointlessness of his revenge and is able to move on, forgiving Angela in the process.

Yeah! What I do find interesting is that Roland implies that the White Night and Dark Days may have affected Xiao's decision.
"Looks like the light that shone during the White Nights and Dark Days had more influence that just creating the Distortion or E.G.O, huh..."
In my opinion, Xiao's death is more of a..."acceptance" for her, rather than anything else. I don't think it's fair to say that Xiao didn't overcome her vengeance seeking like Roland did. In fact, I'd say that she does so right after her final interactions with Miris.
After Miris passes, you don't hear Xiao blaming the Library for what happened. She only blames herself, but knows that if she were to lose herself now - if she were to go berserk, it would make light of the sacrifices of the others. She doesn't 'seek vengeance', but instead - chooses to stand up against the Library out of a sense of responsibility and respect for those who followed her into the library and passed on.
Personally, I think both Xiao and Roland end the same way, to be honest. While Xiao finds herself booked in the Library with Lowell (before Angela's choice), Roland finds himself and the rest of the library sent to the Outskirts of the City with Angela. It's a bittersweet ending for both, at least in their eyes.
But once again, that's all a personal opinion! Thanks for writing this~

Not only that, but Yan is a parallel to Angela's story, even with their method of evading reality (closing their eyes) being the exact same

I agree with this. Using Gone Angels to add a little extra reasoning here, the line "For you, angels have fallen" always made me think of characters like Xiao, Yan, and others who the seed of light took root in the most. Those who could by the City's standatds be called angels on behalf of their compassion.
Perhaps Roland used that as a further motivator to kill Angela: to put an end to the monster who killed these good people to her own selfish end.

I still remember that time in the randomizer stream you faced both ego xiao and ego philip in the same reception with a rabbit and a fresh meat

8:05 Damm, so grateful you added that analogy for non humans. Wouldnt have understood it if it wasnt for that
Also, Its good to know that Xiao will probably be able to reunite with her colleagues and with Lowel, unlike a certain other character that the devs decided to bring back in Leviathan...

      you're welcome :L
Also, yeah. A lot of people get their 'happy ending', unlike...some...others.
Yan, Philip, and...the one that you mentioned though - don't get so lucky. It's kinda sad tbh - I definitely wish we saw more of Yan and...the other one (two?).

@@HazIosefka I mean, Yan can still be saved if Moses gets in on the case (which is unlikely but possible). Philip is done for. And them... they have no hope sadly, none at all. Even if they survived what is seen in Leviathan what are they gonna do? they are not a distortion so they cant be fixed

I started to explore Mili's library of music a bit more today and found the song "Iron Lotus" and was perplexed by the lyrics. So much so that I had to know the meaning of it. Xiao's character is truly precious is some way, her final stance was awe-inspiring. Her will and love, together for one final battle.

I will always love a good Xiao video. And I know you said you are not happy with the video but know that at least I, and probably others aswell, enjoyed it!

I love these videos! To my knowledge you are the only person doing these in-depth analysis of the characters in PM games. I think you do a really good job at explaining the characters and I love how you actually put your interpretations rather than just recapping everything. Keep up the work! I’ll definitely be sticking around for future videos.

Unfortunately, the next analysis will probably come in October, as Yesod's. I originally planned on doing some Abno stuff? But couldn't write enough for The Birds.
The next video is probably just gonna be a lil bit more straightforward and focusing on PM's worldbuilding~

As always, great work Haz, my only gripe is that your choice between black and white text to emphasize two different sides/ideas/emotions sometimes makes the text hard to read but sacrifices must be made for art or something like that. I also really like your music choice, especially Reconciliation, I feel like it fits really well here!
