  • Hey Guys,
    Today i'm going to be showing you how I install a Vf48 turbo into my 2006 Subaru WRX. This VF48 turbo is an OEM subaru turbo that came out of a 2009 WRX STI and had about 60k on it but I sent if off to Hill Country Forced induction and they Rebuilt it, Ported it, installed an upgraded billet wheel and welded my wastegate crack closed. This WRX turbo install is a direct turbo swap with no modifications needed. This was a few weeks ago so it's been tuned for about 3 weeks now and is running amazing. Next video will be the tuning and review of the turbo.
    This video is just to show how I install a Wrx turbo and i am not responsible for any damage that is done while attempting this on your own. I have been working on cars for around 15 years so if you don't have enough confidence or experience let a professional do it.

  • @lifesbutagame1

    Yo kyle!! I'm thinking of doing the same on my wrx 2005. Did you need to modify injectors, fuel pump etc to support the turbo? Saw you have a bigger intercooler.

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I had the STi blue injectors which are like around 550cc or something and a walbro 255 fuel pump. Later on when I went flex fuel I upgraded to 1000cc injectors.

    Hey man how long did it take you to burp the coolant system?

    • @hamiltonbedoya5446
      @hamiltonbedoya5446 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did this on my car but it is now overheating. Car was running perfect before running the new turbo

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes a bit, I always make sure to fill the radiator first, then expansion tank, then overflow, then before you turn the car on you'll want to get a fairly decent size funnel and put it in the expansion tank, wrap a towel around it and run the car until there are no more bubbles. Be care though because the level will rise the hotter it gets, also squeeze the upper radiator hose while doing that. Lastly the car should be level. Let me know if that helps!

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not positive on the bogeyed. The main thing you need to look for is the bolt pattern on the downpipe side which if you don't know is the big opening with the gasket. Just compare the patterns. If they are different you might need to get a new downpipe

    Would a blown VF43 off a 2007 STI be able to be replaced with a VF48 with no tuning?

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would imagine you would need a tune because their design and output is slightly different and might throw off your fueling by either making it to rich or two lean and could possibly lead to some major damage. Subies are very sensitive to change so I'd always recommend a tune or adjustment to your tune for everything you do
