Holy cow. Ray Price and George Jones and Frank Sinatra had the three best voices in American Music. I just love Ray Price's vocal range. He was a gifted artist. One day I'll see him on the other side of heaven. Keep singing, Ray!
Ray your the beat country singer sing I started listening to you in 1948 at our high school homecoming. God Bless You So Much for all the good times you have given me!
I loved this recording by Ray Price.. unlike many others, Ray's voice never changed our first date was to see Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys late summer in 1962..At the time I never dreamed that Cowboys would all be famous themselves one day.. It was in Houston, Texas.. my how I wish I had asked for autographs.. that would be something.. From our first date until now we have been married over 50 years.. Ray has always been one of my five favorites and I think he may be #1.. Sure do miss him but have the recordings to remember him by.. thanks for posting.
There are performers who sing and then there are singers. Ray Price belongs in that rarified air where each word, voice projection and delivery is his own. He makes each song sound as if you just heard it for the first time.
What a great version! I've never heard Ray singing this, it was always Jessie's, as she wrote it and sung along with hubby Waylon Jennings. Love Ray Price! R.I.P.
Thank you so much for your kind comment :) Yes, a wonderful duet by Jessi and Waylon ...a song Jessi indeed wrote :) and Waylon rescued from the trashcan :) :) I'm glad you enjoyed this equally great version by Mr Ray Price....thanks so much!! ~Marianne...
Yes you're right Stephan I agree that this is a very enjoyable version by Mr Ray Price...and I'm glad that you enjoyed it...that makes two of us!! Thank you so much Stephan!! ♥~ :)
My favorite Jessie Colter song, even though I'm Not Lisa was the bigger hit. This one was recorded by Jessie & Waylon before they were married. But, Ray's great Cherokee voice- if only his distant ancestors had been able to hear him & witness his magnificent success! Wow! What a thought......
I just love Ray's voice & I.M.O. he just gets better with age. He did a superb rendition of this song who I most identify with Dottsy...a talented singer in her own right. Thanks for posting. Have a blessed week, Jeff :)
Ray was a real pro... ALWAYS "spot on"! What a great Cherokee voice. If his distant ancestors had only been able to hear him & see his success! What a thought.....
For the Good Times was the first Ray Price song my ears fell in love with and since then his warm baritone has kept my attention as one of the best voices in country music....This is a great example of his talents as singer/songwriter and guitarist!! Beautifully sung!!! Thanks Hoss for your very lovely comment!! And as always you're very welcome... ~Marianne...
His version of For The Good Times will always remind me of crying over drinks in a bar bcz we were getting a divorce. - My handsome husband later married that bar maid. & SHE divorced him. Then she was killed in a car wreck.... SO-O long ago.
Yes Linda, Jessi wrote the song and sings it as well, a lovely song ♥ So glad you liked it...Thank you for your kind words:) I appreciate them... ~Marianne...
Oh Benny...You made me blush in public with this very kind comment!! Thank you Benny for the song in the first place...when a song and my heart connect...well... the rest then comes just naturally!!! I love his version!! ~Marianne...
your comment is 4 yrs old here but just have to say: ray price WAS a great singer & gene watson gave him a great comment - but- tho i think ray's version of Storms Never Last is the best i've ever heard (i LOVE jessi colter's song better than I'm Not Lisa, which was the bigger hit) gene watson could outdo just about anyone! HE made a song sound like he was the 1st to ever record it! he puts EVERYTHING into a song! & don't get me wrong, i love ray price, also! i remember him from waaaay back!
Betty Lou No!!! For me Mr Ray Price does it best!!! So glad you enjoyed it Betty Lou!! Thank you for your kind words !!! I appreciate it very much!! TC ~Marianne...

That's wonderful Mr Jack, you are so very welcome my friend!!...It is a beautiful tune by Mr Ray Price...Thank you so much and have a great afternoon/evening!! ~Marianne...
Glad you do know Jim!! Ray does a beautiful and like you said an impressive version...Thanks so much Jim for stoppin' in my friend...I like that! ~Marianne...
I know that Ray has done many duets, some of my favorites are the ones he did with Willie Nelson. But the reason I bring up his duets is that I was wondering... did Ray ever have a prominent female duet partner like "Porter and Dolly", "Conway and Loretta" or "George and Tammy"??? I have many Ray Price albums but not a lot have duets on them and I was just wondering...
I have just Waylon and Jessi from the album as an MP3 that I can send...Not as a backing-track ...but I'll ask around Arthur...Thank you my friend!! ~Marianne...
Hi Marianne, Thanks I have them singing it on computer,it was the Karaoke File I am after, Countryaussiegirl Patricia, sent me the Dr Hook Version, but just not as good, Thanks anyway ~ Arthur
If you like this song, visit Dr. Hook doing this one. Their unique vocals make this song come alive, and the rest of the band sounds terrific. Recommend you give it a listen.
Thank You Dalton, Yes I'm very familiar with Dr Hook's rendition :) and have the song in my collection!! Thank you for your recommendation though, it could be helpful for others... Much Appreciated!! :) ~Marianne...
Hi Marianne, great song by Ray , But I associate this with Waylon & Jessi ,who sing it beautifully,But Ray also does a great job of it, I have been singing it for 2 weeks at K/oki, But I only have The Dr Hook version, not as good,if you should know of, or have a Waylon version I would be greatfull ~ Arthur

Ray Price was a true legend. Best voice I've ever heard
Instablaster...
New country music would never match the old time singers. They were the best. Now its all about drinking and unhappy life style.
I loved this recording by Ray Price.. unlike many others, Ray's voice never changed

that mandolin is sweet, and then the fiddle... but Price is spot on with the vocals...
Ray was a real pro... ALWAYS "spot on"! What a great Cherokee voice. If his distant ancestors had only been able to hear him & see his success! What a thought.....

Ray Price was the master. Gene Watson once said" when Ray sang a song, you knew it had been sung" .
He was ABSOLUTELY right!!
so right Mary, you knew ever word you said was correct and Ray sang every word
your comment is 4 yrs old here but just have to say: ray price WAS a great singer & gene watson gave him a great comment - but- tho i think ray's version of Storms Never Last is the best i've ever heard (i LOVE jessi colter's song better than I'm Not Lisa, which was the bigger hit) gene watson could outdo just about anyone! I didnt know that Ray Price sang this classic of Waylon
Beautifully paced and sung. The classical guitar break and fills are wonderful. When was this made?
I think it was in 1977...
Dotsy also does a great version of this one and I believe she had the first record out, However Ray Price is as good as any I've heard
Thanks
Was this song ever recorded on an album? I love it, best version ever!
Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys - Reunited
Genre: Folk, World, & Country
Style: Country
Year: 1977
I know that Ray has done many duets, some of my favorites are the ones he did with Willie Nelson. True, they don't
Hi Marianne, Thanks I have them singing it on computer,it was the Karaoke File I am after, Countryaussiegirl Patricia, sent me the Dr Hook Version, but just not as good, Thanks anyway ~ Arthur
Two and a half years since being posted and over 37,000 views :-)
7 yrs now & 190,000 views.
Where can I get this cd with ray singing this?
Ray changed the last line of the chorus to a more poetic, "make the sun shine again" from Jesse's "make the sun want to shine."
If you like this song, visit Dr. Hook doing this one. Their unique vocals make this song come alive, and the rest of the band sounds terrific. Recommend you give it a listen.
