      Play scholar
-no cast atk to move around during mechanics
      -fairy support healing
-simple rotation to focus on healing and damage instead of what button to press.
-potency 600 no cast panic heal tank button. or 400 potency no cast panic heal party. and have up to 3 x 3 aether ammo.

Only healing I've done is solo. Squadron and trust dungeons. I just want them leveled but refuse to buy a skip. Same with tanks actually. Solo leveling is fine except between lvl 61 and 71. Have to keep an eye on challenge logs at those levels and just take it slowly. On alts I'm also trying to level them along the MSQ so I can pick up exp there and just catch up MSQ lvl for duties with whatever dps they're maining. Edit: SCH is maxed on the count of SMN obviously, the rest is lagging.

I used to be nervous to heal, then I tried scholar. The fairy is overpowered at low level because you don't have as many skills to work with. Translation: you mostly just dps. Then eventually you get some power heals, but almost everything is a job action and instant cast. I read a few guides, then I practiced on my Grand Company squadron during some dungeons. It's a great way to get some experience without having to worry about letting players/friends down. After I got comfortable with it, healing is kind of my default role IF I think the fight might be rough and I want it to go smoothly. I hope someday you give it a shot. Thanks for sharing.

IMO, a good way to start getting a feel for it would be to try and play as a Red Mage, as they're like the ultimate Hybrid job, and while they are treated as a DPS, their main value is the fact that they are the absolute best Job in terms of just pure utility (and no Job in the game is better at reviving downed allies, including dedicated Healer Jobs, hence the Red Mage's affectionate nickname of "Rez Mage"). They have melee, they have ranged offensive magic, and they are one of only two DPS Jobs (the other being Summoner) that can both heal & rez downed allies (RDM does it better than SMN though thanks to the RDM's Dualcast passive). Playing as a RDM can be a giid way to start easing yourself into how healing works without actually playing a dedicated Healer Job right away.
I personally just prefer to just main RDM outright because I just love the Job as a whole (it's also one of the best Jobs to do solo content with), but it can also serve as a gateway for people more accustomed to DPS to try branching out into trying to play the Healer(s), or it can be a gateway for Healer mains to start easing their way into playing a DPS.
But best of all, as a RDM you will pretty much never have to worry about any group not welcoming your presence. A single decent RDM could literally be the difference between completing a run, or wiping.
I even had such a moment of my own as a RDM. It was a light party, and I was the only RDM (I *think* the other DPS was a Samurai, but it's been so long that I'm not certain anymore), and we were in the last boss fight and we were about halfway through the boss's HP bar when our healer suddenly went down. And then the other DPS becomes very confused when they notice that the Healer is suddenly alive again, until they realize: "Oh! Right! Red Mage!".
But as a whole, if you want to try out a new role, mention very early in a run that you're new to the role and are still learning, and/or take the Job through Palace of the Dead or Heaven on High to learn the Job from low to high level and figure out the optimal "rotations" (if any) that you should be aware of. FF XIV's community is incredibly friendly and understanding (I've only been part of a comparably nice MMO community once before, and that was in a free-to-play MMO that shut down back in, I think, 2014 [though there is a fan server of it still up and running that is 100% free, you couldn't put money into the game even if you wanted to!]. The MMO in question? Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE: Online. The fan server is called Re:IMAGINE if you want to check it out. The MMO is a bit dated [but that's to be expected, the MMO originally came out in the early 2000s after all!], but it's still worth looking into....as long as you're not a kid. The MMO is not really meant for kids as it has some adult themes and "imagery" at times)

I do enjoy healing. It is a juggling act and can be scary if in a non friend group because some people might dislike you for not balancing heals and damaging. But never give up on a job, always try and try some more!

Just look at it this way: the way the game is going atm, in high levels pretty much everything is potentially deadly at first or second hit, no one really expects you to save the dps that continue to stand in fire. 2 vuln stacks for an Ahk Morn? I'm sorry but that's on you buddy.

As a healer, my issue with clemency is that I can't predict it. If I KNOW a clem is on it's way, I will maintain Glare Stance, but most of the time if I see the tank HP drop to a certain point (15-20% if I have instant heals, 25% if I have to wait on a cast), I heal reflexively, just to see a clemency land half a second before my heal, and it makes me feel like that's a GDC I could have spent on glare.

    • @hannessteffenhagen61
      @hannessteffenhagen61 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

TBH, that’s what I like about healers right now. When it’s the end of a stressful day at work, I just log onto the game and I don’t feel like thinking too hard, I just switch to WHM, press the glare button 1000 times and just do a face roll on my game pad if it looks like someone’s about to die. Cast times are super short, tons of instant heals so I don’t even have to decide between healing and DPSing, so perfect for smooth brained monke sit at campfire type gameplay.

A few runs of practice as a healer helps you gauge when you can throw some dps out, healers are given damaging spells as well so use them whenever you can while keeping track of your mana or mp or whatever energy you rely on in whatever game you play. Healing isn't everything though, you still need a group effort, dps and tanks need to pull their weight as well. Don't stand in fire.

As someone that likes to play every available class (Free Trial) till I know how they work, I find Astrologian to be my favorite overall as the rotation is mostly just keeping regen on the tank while flipping through cards and throwing them on the correct ally so they are dealing more damage till you have no more cards to draw and proceed to deal damage yourself.
But overall, Scholar is my og healer because I love holding those Aether stacks for important situations, allowing me to heal a near dead tank to full instantly and still have enough to throw out the dmg reduction bubble, though for trial bosses I keep the bubble up the most while the other healer is acting as a main healer so I can dps.
Then there is WHM where you just keep regens on, AOE when people other than the tank get hit and use your instant max hp heal if the tank is close to death so you can cast more stones/your aoe.

When it comes to Clemency, it kinda messes with the healers since 3 out of the 4 healers have an "O shit" button that does better the lower HP you have.
WHM - Benediction that fully heals someone
AST - Essential Dignity that heals more the lower HP the target is
SCH - Excognition that heals when they go below a certain HP percentage.
