@@KalinaHitanaVTuber And some of us will never know much if anything at all about places like Goldshire because (going all the way back to vanilla WoW,) when you want to play with friends and they're playing Horde while you want to play Paladin which at that time was exclusively Alliance way back then, you're pretty much stuck playing Shaman until the Blood Elves became available to play, then you have to explain to all your warrior friends that pally tanking doesn't work the same way because they use spellpower which is why even with the threat generator is off its impossible to pull undead/demons off the "off tank" because almost all their powers do more damage, then all that changes in the third expansion, ruining everything learned from the entirety of the second expansion and starting all over. ... whew... That's a lot of thoughts on what used to be a good game. Thanks Activision for running Blizzard into the ground!

9:50 Seemingly alot of people don't know that when you are ressed, as long as you DON'T press any ability/attack buttons, you will be invulnerable for 5 seconds to ALL Damage! (the moment you press/click something that is not a movement key it is instantly removed) Gives you chance to move out of the crap and have a heal sent your way without insta dying :P

I died 4 times in a raid to kill an fc mate in a Nier raid. Kept rescuing him just a little too late. Twas a wonderful fun blast. I mainly did it cus I joked about it and he said, "Do it your cowards!"
I wonder how a SAM main thinks. Mostly because you have no utility abilities except damage. Don't get me wrong it's a big + But not contributing to mitigation or damage for other players probably has an impact on how you perceive the game.
As a healer main I care more about winning and getting it done than letting someone die out of spite. I WOULD LOVE TO but I wanna finish the fight you get me? And that means keeping the idiot/s alive

usually if they do something stupid like almost get the party killed i just pop a regen on them and let'em think about what they did. had a summoner who was standing in a poison puddle, i rescued him out of it and he immediately went right back to it

In my experience, it's more useful to pop your cooldowns on trash mobs than on the Boss later. So don't be afraid. As a main healer, wall-to-wall tanking makes me sweat more than any savage raid. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
As someone who has played MTG for years, RTFC is my favorite anagram: Read The F*cking Card! I don't understand how people don't do this! Some of the more advanced abilities on things like AST where each ability is split into two parts I could understand a little more, but 99% of the DPS are just "hit button, do X damage of Y type. Combos with Z ability"
People who exclusively commend healers annoy me lol. Yes yes, commend the healer more for doing their job at an average level. Some of y'all clearly haven't had DPS's in your dungeons so bad that they can't kill a pull before the tank runs out of mitigation and the healer runs out of mana, and it shows.

As a healer, I once "Rescued" a bad tank who was so awful that trying to kill them actually saved their life. They'd died multiple times in that Copied Factory run, too, and mostly to the more obvious, older mechanics rather than the newer ones from the raid. So imagine my reaction when trying to kill them with Engel's big laser of death in Energy Barrage *saved* them.
Back when I started around Heavensward launch, I had no idea about abilities/ogcds and that they don't break combos. It took me until 60 until I actually figured that out. The thing is, the game isn't really doing a great job explaining that to the player (or at least didn't when I started) so it's not something you would automatically know. No shame in not knowing. :p
To be fair, I got to lvl 80 as a DRK on my first character, and my second character, who is now my main, is a lvl 80 GNB, BRD, WHM, SAM, RDM, BLM, PLD, NIN, DNC, maybe a couple others as well, I have unlocked all classes, with my lowest being lvl 60, and I'm lvl 80 with all Disciple of Hand and Land jobs, and up until this video I never realized "Ability" essentially meant OGCD. I would just use the ability (outside of instanced play, of course) and take note of what was GCD and what wasn't.
The perfect time to use rescue is during Ramuh ex, if someone gets chaos/seduce and isn't hit by lightning, you can pull them to safety so they aren't instantly killed.

Shadowninja88(unfortunate number, probably unintentional): "lb priority is always melee lol" Very untrue. For dungeons you almost always want to use caster/ranged LB on a big pull. As soon as there are two targets or more, caster/ranged LB is just better if a boss includes it too(E1S as example, the orbs).
I will admit to (relatively) recently healing a random dungeon and noticing the ranged was autofollowing me suddenly during a boss fight. This was annoying because the boss used towers and the melee was tunnel-visioned on the boss, straining my healing. Ended up standing just outside of an AoE to deliberately kill the mage, which apparently woke up the melee to the need to stand in a separate tower than the tank.
I cast AL on cooldown, when I tank - unless I'm only fighting a ranged/caster enemy It's just constant free slow only time I save it is when I know there's a mechanic with a push coming up
Ff14 is one of the easiest MMOs read your tool tips..pretty straight forward almost like a introduction game into MMOs..pretty much what he is saying. Basic game knowledge needed
It's a place in WoW for the low level alliance players, but often higher level players hang out there for *various* reasons.. depending on server.. some of those reasons involve erp.. not a place for kids on those servers XD

I have rescued my own raid members who died one too many times once we called a wipe in our static. I have rescued them to them in many amazing ways. I favorite kind of rescue death is timing it just right as I jump off a platform to take them with me. It's so fun to see their reactions. Or even during Diamond, when we know we can spare a death or 3 I do this on purpose while in voice with others and we have a good laugh about it. Fun times. I cannot wait for Endwalker so I can be back to being the terrorist healer to their lives as I was before my static went on break.
Actually, FFXIV has taught me to use your kit in EVERY game, MMO or otherwise. Items? Use em. Skills? Use em. Special magic rod of infinite crabs that can only be cast once per 10 minutes but has been sitting unused for 3 hours because 'what if I need it later'? USE. EM.
People look at OGCD cooldowns and think they're super long. For those people, here's a reminder: global cooldown after every skill in your rotation is 2.5 seconds. Any 3-hit rotation takes 5 seconds, so any OGCD with 30 seconds would take six of those rotations until it's back.
Never in my life would I commend anyone but the other DPS and even that was rare. The "commendation" system is an ego boost/popularity contest and if you need something like that to want to continue to play the game there are more things wrong with your mental state than you realize. Slight edit: If you're spamming a button repeatedly because the enemy flew away and it only does 50 damage, then by the time they come back and I press my 1 button that does 500,000 damage I have done the same or greater damage that some moron spamming a useless button
So I gotta share this as I think you're adude and group who will understand my frustrations. I play Elder Scrolls Online and am a healer DPS hybrid because usually it's just my sister and I. Well, we were doing some veteran dungeons and I got SCREAMED at because I wasn't constantly healing the tank and instead, you know, actually fighting. There was no reason to heal the tant! Loser wasn't even at half health unless he just didn't move when an instant kill came at him.
monk is the only class with an excuse to not deal damage, when the enemy's AoE forces everyone to resort to range attacks, and forces everyone to do it greater than 10y away.. Howling Fist and Enlightenment, which are the only 2 range attack options available to the Monk, only has a range of 10y, while all other classes has 20-30y range attack options. Granted, Monks have Thunderclap, but the puts you closer to the enemy (thus inside AoE) and is thus useless, until AoE is finished. And yes, I have seen enemy AoE force players further than 10y away from the enemy, if they did not wish to take damage.
I have only 3 conditions for Commendations. 1. Punster 2. Good support, meaning they contributed to the raid, a lot. 3. New player to the dungeon. The moment you make a pun or a joke that elicits a groan out of me, you get my Commendation immediately. Regardless of your class, contribution or player status, you get that Commendation, because all puns deserve acknowledgement. As a Healer, I have wanted to do that so many times. But I've held back on that, because I don't want to waste more Mana on Raising another dead player. Low Mana means I have to be even more frugal with my Raise for a period of time and that means less DPS. I will hate you for making me Raise you twice in a row but I will not intentionally sabotage you and myself. So please, wait out a mechanic if you can before you accept the Raise.

oldschool wow I think got that, what would eventually become a bad habit, ideology of holding cds instilled in players. Way back in the day, you had burst windows and had to hold your load until then. Or line it up with other, sometimes longer, raid cds from other players. Or the mob / boss hit like a wet noodle until xyz happens and you needed to save your defensives for that singular moment. But mmos evolved and it become more about efficiency and consistency over timing. But we all know old habits are hard to break. 14 also finally broke me of the habit, along with main raid healing WoW. Healers have so much cds now you just cycle your coolies instead of pooling them. And then 14, as I said, solidified that mentality for me.
I've been a sch main since pre DB cleric's Dance. That was a fun time to heal since you had to micromanage constantly. The current game is so much more user friendly, but I do miss how it used to be. The challenge was fun. Granted, pretty much no one wanted to be a healer back then because of that one skill.
Commend your healers, we do work when you mess up and stand in shit. DPS gets commend if you stay out of shit. Yet everyone just commends the fucking tank because they're first on the list and people are lazy.
I loved the reference and the shade thrown at that streamer called Quinn69. Playing a Samurai after boosting, stands in AoE and shouts "Where were the heals!?!"
The thing I hate about watching videos concerning MMOs is that they always make me want to go back and play one of the few that I've ever invested some time into. Primarily Lord of the Rings Online.
I play every class cant tell you the names of moves either, I go by the pictures. Like white mage has easy names like cure 1, cure 2, cure 3. Sage they got too creative with names. My favorite role is tank, and every tank has its own enimity generating stance which does the same thing but has a different name and picture.
Oh yes I know the anger of waiting for very long queues because you are a main Dragoon but you're sitting there for 40 minutes waiting for queue because there's too many DPS
the only time I don't commend anyone, is when everyone leaves while I'm in the middle of end dungeon cutscene... which is why I personally make it a habit to stick around while someone watches a cutscene.
I've never been the one to cast Rescue, but I have *been* rescued because I couldn't get out of range fast enough... And I love Scathe and and Ruin II....instacasts are the best.
There are only four reasons why I would not commend someone after a duty/trial. 1) I was part of a preformed party with my FC to run it, therefore cannot commend anyone. 2) Everyone else left before I even had the chance to. 3) Everyone else were dicks and didn't deserve it. 4) Combination of 2 and 3. The good people left, and everyone else remaining were dicks. Otherwise, I'll give a commendation based on certain factors, mainly my role/job. Typically, I would give one to the/a healer. If it's a 4-man and I'm the healer, I'll give it to the tank. If it's an 8-man and I'm the healer, I'll usually give it to the other healer. However, if I'm playing Dancer (my current main until EW) then sometimes I'll give it to my dance partner, if they end up working really well with me (IE I get a lot of Saber Dances)
Oh man I consistently talk about how much of a heart attack HW Dragoon was lol. B4B, Inner Release, BOTD (On a minute cooldown so you screw up you're back to 2.0 rotation), Geirskogul when you have 20 seconds left on BoTD and not before or you're back to 2.0 rotation, RANDOM 4TH ATTACK FOR YOUR COMBO WITH A POSITIONAL!?! (SERIOUSLY, WHAT WAS THAT?). Plus your jump, spineshatter, Dragonfire, etc etc, all while dealing with them alexander mechs....It was chaos lol. I enjoyed it, but man. after raid I needed a wind down minute for my heart lol

I'll be honest. I have playing another game than wow from more than 3 years now, and I noticed that they even forced us to use specific abilities in each expansion, making us to learn to hold back if we want to "survive". I have been playing ff14 for a couple of weeks now, main dps, and I just literally having good time, using all my skills as I want. I'm afraid wow must learn from others in order to survive ( and have ion leave. The guy is hopeless... he literally admitted he didn't want players to play some classes of the game and that was the reason he removed skills and powers from them...)

As a SAM main I always commend the healer, UNLESS their is a dancer in the party that recognizes how big my sword is and makes me their dance partner.

The biggest tool tip mind-blow for me was when I read Arm’s Length inflicted Slow when a monster hits you.

Worst I've done as a healer is rescue people off the tightrope in Dohn Mheg, I don't want to kill my meat shields because then I have to rez/heal them
I recently ran Dohn Mheg blind for the first time, I honestly thought rescue would help. It didn’t help.
As a Monk main i always commend other DPS players. DPS players don't get enough commendations imo.

Actually, FFXIV has taught me to use your kit in EVERY game, MMO or otherwise. Items? Use em. Skills? Use em. Special magic rod of infinite crabs that can only be cast once per 10 minutes but has been sitting unused for 3 hours because 'what if I need it later'? USE. EM.

People look at OGCD cooldowns and think they're super long. For those people, here's a reminder: global cooldown after every skill in your rotation is 2.5 seconds. Any 3-hit rotation takes 5 seconds, so any OGCD with 30 seconds would take six of those rotations until it's back.
Never in my life would I commend anyone but the other DPS and even that was rare. The "commendation" system is an ego boost/popularity contest and if you need something like that to want to continue to play the game there are more things wrong with your mental state than you realize.
Slight edit: If you're spamming a button repeatedly because the enemy flew away and it only does 50 damage, then by the time they come back and I press my 1 button that does 500,000 damage I have done the same or greater damage that some moron spamming a useless button

Well, we were doing some veteran dungeons and I got SCREAMED at because I wasn't constantly healing the tank and instead, you know, actually fighting.
There was no reason to heal the tant! Loser wasn't even at half health unless he just didn't move when an instant kill came at him.
monk is the only class with an excuse to not deal damage, when the enemy's AoE forces everyone to resort to range attacks, and forces everyone to do it greater than 10y away.. Howling Fist and Enlightenment, which are the only 2 range attack options available to the Monk, only has a range of 10y, while all other classes has 20-30y range attack options. Granted, Monks have Thunderclap, but the puts you closer to the enemy (thus inside AoE) and is thus useless, until AoE is finished. And yes, I have seen enemy AoE force players further than 10y away from the enemy, if they did not wish to take damage.
I have only 3 conditions for Commendations.
1. Punster
2. Good support, meaning they contributed to the raid, a lot.
3. New player to the dungeon.
The moment you make a pun or a joke that elicits a groan out of me, you get my Commendation immediately. Regardless of your class, contribution or player status, you get that Commendation, because all puns deserve acknowledgement.
As a Healer, I have wanted to do that so many times. But I've held back on that, because I don't want to waste more Mana on Raising another dead player. Low Mana means I have to be even more frugal with my Raise for a period of time and that means less DPS. I will hate you for making me Raise you twice in a row but I will not intentionally sabotage you and myself. So please, wait out a mechanic if you can before you accept the Raise.

oldschool wow I think got that, what would eventually become a bad habit, ideology of holding cds instilled in players. Way back in the day, you had burst windows and had to hold your load until then. Or line it up with other, sometimes longer, raid cds from other players. Or the mob / boss hit like a wet noodle until xyz happens and you needed to save your defensives for that singular moment. But mmos evolved and it become more about efficiency and consistency over timing. But we all know old habits are hard to break. 14 also finally broke me of the habit, along with main raid healing WoW. Healers have so much cds now you just cycle your coolies instead of pooling them. And then 14, as I said, solidified that mentality for me.
I'm a tank main who lvl'd a White Mage to lvl 80..... I've ress'd people into a boss AOE on accident uhhhh...many times. :V
I've been a sch main since pre DB cleric's Dance. That was a fun time to heal since you had to micromanage constantly. The current game is so much more user friendly, but I do miss how it used to be. The challenge was fun. Granted, pretty much no one wanted to be a healer back then because of that one skill.
Commend your healers, we do work when you mess up and stand in shit. DPS gets commend if you stay out of shit. Yet everyone just commends the fucking tank because they're first on the list and people are lazy.
I loved the reference and the shade thrown at that streamer called Quinn69. Playing a Samurai after boosting, stands in AoE and shouts "Where were the heals!?!"
The thing I hate about watching videos concerning MMOs is that they always make me want to go back and play one of the few that I've ever invested some time into. Primarily Lord of the Rings Online.
I play every class cant tell you the names of moves either, I go by the pictures. Like white mage has easy names like cure 1, cure 2, cure 3. Sage they got too creative with names. My favorite role is tank, and every tank has its own enimity generating stance which does the same thing but has a different name and picture.
Oh yes I know the anger of waiting for very long queues because you are a main Dragoon but you're sitting there for 40 minutes waiting for queue because there's too many DPS
the only time I don't commend anyone, is when everyone leaves while I'm in the middle of end dungeon cutscene... which is why I personally make it a habit to stick around while someone watches a cutscene.
battle rezzing someone in a void zone? bro ive done that and i wasn't even the healer.... i was the tank (dk's 3% hp br during wotlk).
WoW major cd's were 3 minutes cd or longer, so ya you learned to hold them which SUCKED.
I can count on one hand the amount of times I've used Rescue. And not for that.

I've never been the one to cast Rescue, but I have *been* rescued because I couldn't get out of range fast enough...
And I love Scathe and and Ruin II....instacasts are the best.

There are only four reasons why I would not commend someone after a duty/trial. 1) I was part of a preformed party with my FC to run it, therefore cannot commend anyone. 2) Everyone else left before I even had the chance to. 3) Everyone else were dicks and didn't deserve it. 4) Combination of 2 and 3. The good people left, and everyone else remaining were dicks. Otherwise, I'll give a commendation based on certain factors, mainly my role/job. Typically, I would give one to the/a healer. If it's a 4-man and I'm the healer, I'll give it to the tank. If it's an 8-man and I'm the healer, I'll usually give it to the other healer. However, if I'm playing Dancer (my current main until EW) then sometimes I'll give it to my dance partner, if they end up working really well with me (IE I get a lot of Saber Dances)
Oh man I consistently talk about how much of a heart attack HW Dragoon was lol. B4B, Inner Release, BOTD (On a minute cooldown so you screw up you're back to 2.0 rotation), Geirskogul when you have 20 seconds left on BoTD and not before or you're back to 2.0 rotation, RANDOM 4TH ATTACK FOR YOUR COMBO WITH A POSITIONAL!?! (SERIOUSLY, WHAT WAS THAT?). Plus your jump, spineshatter, Dragonfire, etc etc, all while dealing with them alexander mechs....It was chaos lol. I enjoyed it, but man. after raid I needed a wind down minute for my heart lol

No, but I HAVE, on...maybe more than one occasion...about a few times or so...jumped off the edge of a platform and Rescued either the tank or the other healer to me.
I'll be honest. I have playing another game than wow from more than 3 years now, and I noticed that they even forced us to use specific abilities in each expansion, making us to learn to hold back if we want to "survive".
I have been playing ff14 for a couple of weeks now, main dps, and I just literally having good time, using all my skills as I want.
I'm afraid wow must learn from others in order to survive ( and have ion leave. The guy is hopeless... he literally admitted he didn't want players to play some classes of the game and that was the reason he removed skills and powers from them...)
I confess my sins of rescuing idiots into AoE's/off the edge of arenas out of spite. Am I sorry?
