    My mother had 7 babies and has no stretch marks at all. Of the 4 of us daughters who've had babies, only 1 of my sisters got stretch marks, so I'm sure there is a genetic component. But I also believe the sister who ended up with stretch marks got them because she gained so much excess weight during her pregnancies (i think she said about 50 lbs) while the rest of us did not.
    So I'm not saying that you may be able to prevent them entirely, BUT if you want to *limit* stretch marks, I think it's so important to gain weight within the recommended pregnancy range for your BMI. And of course, eating healthily and getting your vitamins is part of that as well as exercise throughout pregnancy.
    One more tip is that along with moisturizing your stretch mark prone areas, is to add hyaluronic acid to your regular moisturizer. I've read it's the only ingredient backed by any evidence that it penetrates deep enough into the layers of skin that it may actually help prevent them. Anyway, gaining slowly throughout my pregnancy within the recommended weight range, eating well, exercising, and using adding a hyaluronic acid booster to my body lotion all seemed to work for me.

      Absolutely a HUGE genetic component- that's most of it.

      My last 2 babies (I have 4 now!) I've used organic coconut oil exclusively after every shower and before bed and still zero stretch marks. Most of this is genetic but moisturizer is key too.

    Hey! Could you please do a video on eating while pregnant? I’m currently 21 weeks and 4 days and I gained 20 pounds when I hit 17 weeks or so. Yikes! I know. I took control of my eating habits and portion control yet I’m still worried about baby having all nutrients she needs. I’m in the military, 62 inch female that weighed 150 pre-pregnancy (considered overweight by military standards) but I’ve read that when “overweight” you should have a certain amount of calories/carbs/fat per day... which I’m confused about how much is the right amount.
    I just need to know if any of this would harm baby. Thank you!

      GlowBodyPT thank you so much for your response! I’ve managed to maintain my weight ever since I found out that I was gaining so much so fast but it feels good to read that what I’m doing pretty much the best thing. I will still watch the video to see if I need to tweak more stuff. I appreciate it!

    If you don't have stretch marks on your butt from puberty you are simply not getting it. I want to see a woman who already has stretch marks on butt but could prevent it during pregnancy. Otherwise it's all b.s.

    • @sierrabokoskie8374
      @sierrabokoskie8374 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are making gross generalizations here. I (and I'm sure many other women) never experienced stretch marks during puberty and yet I got them during pregnancy. It's totally dependent on how you eat and how rapidly you gain the weight. Some people stay relatively thin and unchanged when they hit puberty.

      @@sierrabokoskie8374 "Gross"? Stop the drama, it's just an opinion. I've never seen a woman who is prone to stretch marks but could prevent it during pregnancy - I don't buy it when a woman claims she did when she doesn't have a single mark on her body.
      Understood?

      I have stretch marks on my but and thighs from puberty, I weighted 70kg back then, after that lost weight to 59 and when I went to a labor with my first baby I had 74kg and no new stretch marks. This is my second pregnancy and I still have no new stretch marks and I believe it's because I eat healthier and I massage my body every day with oil. Genetics has nothing to do with it

    • @timmytee734
      @timmytee734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AuroraValerie That's my point! I wanted to hear it from someone who already has stretch marks from puberty but could prevent it during pregnancy. I just don't buy it from a woman who has zero on her body. I personally never met anyone who has stretch marks on the butt but nothing from pregnancy. Well done!
