सुबह प्रैक्टिस से पहले या फिर बीच में सुशील 150 से 200 ग्राम मक्खन लेते हैं। ज्यादा गर्मी हो तो ग्लूकोज़ भी ले ले लेते हैं। 200 ग्राम बादाम गिरी। दूध सुबह और शाम मिलाकर 2 से ढाई किलो के करीब। दोपहर में तीन रोटी और मक्खन, सलाद और सीज़नल फल लेते हैं। सुबह शाम दो-दो ग्लास फलों का जूस। अपने वजन पर कंट्रोल रखने के लिए अपनी डायट पर बहुत ध्यान रखना पड़ता है। सुबह डेढ़ घंटे और शाम को तीन घंटे प्रैक्टिस करते हैं।

सुशील का जन्म 26 मई 1983 को नजफगढ़ के पास बारपोला गांव में हुआ था। उन्होंने 14 साल की उम्र से ही पहलवानी शुरू कर दी थी।
सप्ताह में तीन दिन फुटबॉल, बॉस्केटबॉल, वॉलिबॉल या हैंडबॉल खेलते हैं। वह फुटबॉल और बॉस्केटबॉल के बेहतरीन खिलाड़ी हैं। फुटबॉल खेलते देख कर आप कह सकते हैं कि किसी स्टार खिलाड़ी से वह कम नहीं हैं। उनकी शूटिंग, बॉल कंट्रोल और स्पीड देख कर आप कह सकेंगे कि उन्हें नैशनल टीम में होना चाहिए। वह हमेशा खुशमिजाज और टेंशन फ्री रहते हैं। रागिनी और लोकगीत उन्हें बहुत पसंद हैं। वह खुद भी गुनगुनाते रहते हैं। मां के हाथ का बनाया हुआ मक्खन तो उन्हें बहुत पसंद है। फिल्म देखने का उन्हें शौक नहीं हैं। वह पूरी तरह कुश्ती को समर्पित हैं। खाली समय में लैपटॉप पर अपनी कुश्तियों को देख कर अपनी गलतियों की ओर ध्यान देते हैं। साथ ही दुनिया के स्टार पहलवानों की तकनीक और स्टाइल को स्टडी करते हैं। लंदन ओलिंपिक में मेडल जीतने के लिए उनकी पत्नी सवी सोलंकी भगवान से दुआ मांगती हैं और पूजा अर्चना कर रही हैं।
