Big respect to Andrew for stopping and asking Father for his blessing if it’s ok for you to read! It felt weird for a second before that..I love how Liturgical procedures become innate in us! Glory to God
I work in "mental health" and once a young man was on a psych ward explicitly and excitedly talking about apophatic theology, going completely over the heads of most mental health staff. amongst other things he was a committed psychonaut and he was telling me that he could see Jesus peeping out from behind my chair. Sadly he died not long after discharge from the ward, hanging himself in an intoxicated state, presumably chasing the cataphatic experience of God. Lord have mercy
I watched the most recent podcast last night when I woke up I tried to review a part of it and saw that it was taken down. Any idea why TH-cam flagged it?
I like a classic burger, good quality patty not too thick, cooked medium with just a little pink in the center, a slice of cheddar cheese, mayo, mustard, ketchup, onion, lettuce, tomato. Bam.
Buttered brioche bun, 50% beef, 50% pork burger seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, a little bit of cayenne, plenty of salt and pepper, with thick bacon, tomato, spicy gaucomole, sharp cheddar cheese, bbq sauce and mayonnaise…mmmmmhhmmm
I loved Andrew’s description of forgetting himself while serving blessed wine. It truly is the moment of letting go of the ego, or the self. I’m sorry to paychological language here but it’s all I have at the moment. It sounded much like the way ‘flow state’ is described in educational schools, first coined by mihalyi ciksetmihalyi. It requires working at the edge of your ability, clear goals, intense focus, and immediate feedback. Then your brain gets really deeply wired for memory, creates more endorphins and serotonin and dopamine. It’s truly a sense of joy and timelessness. I grew up Pentecostal-vineyard-emotional church etc, and people were seeking this experience. Finding orthodoxy was refreshing because it’s the opposite. BUT! There’s got to be a connection between flow state and…spiritual language for atheists when they talk about meeting god on the ski hill or in the concert hall or whatever. I think people mistake that experience for what we perceive that experiencing God should be like. Not disagreeing or complaining about what Andrew was saying, I love your stories and your willingness to share and be vulnerable Andrew. But that description was so precisely what I am working to recreate as a teacher in a group music class setting for deep learning sake, because I have experienced it enough to be familiar, and I know so many are thinking that that is where God is, but I don’t think so. Or certainly it’s not a requirement. If you guys have already talked about this, I’d go listen to that episode, I’m halfway caught up on all of them, but I don’t want to be fully caught up.
I've had some good burgers in my time. I love a good Swiss, melted Swiss cheese and mushrooms, roasted mushrooms, and caramelized onions on a burger. That is hot stuff. You can get that at a number of different places.
DPH has an option where you can pay a sum, and book a one to one video call with Him on his page. If you guys had this on your page, where one could book some time with Fr Turbo id be right there. There aren't a lot of priests out there that can TRULY understand the spiritual battlefield from where some of us come. And I mean on an experiential level. Not to make an idol out of Fr Turbo, but i feel most priests come from a purely theoretical understanding, and as a consequence the help they can give is very limited. This episode, as most, cut right through me. Ughhh
I don't think a priest could do paid sessions like that, but I completely agree with the sentiment. For those of us who have had, let's say, more "direct" experience with spiritual warfare and the demonic there is a real lack of support. There is or course this podcast and the books of our tradition which are a great help, but it's not healthy to go it alone.
I've heard that, generally speaking, the kataphatic is in reference to God's energies, and the apophatic is in reference to God's essence. Is that close?
To be fair, St. Porphyrios is the patron saint of science and technology. Not exactly the same, but related. Also, it's pretty ironic to be complaining about the patron saint of the internet in an internet video that we are watching on the internet.
Saint Porphyrios isn't a 15 year old computer programmer whose body was laid in repose wearing a tracksuit and Nikes. Not the same and not really related.
lol have you guys seen the Catholic AI bot 😂 the conversation brought to mind that movie the secret about manifestation that was on Netflix for a while. a lot of those "wellness/spirituality" docs are full of religion of the future junk.
What's up w Terrence Howard. I feel like for a lot of these streams there's always a topic with little to no context and my ignoramus brain has no clue what's being discussed.
all I saw was a clip of him unironically and emphatically teaching-no. Preaching-that 1x1=2 so I can only imagine what the fuller context would yield lol
I am one of those "who have had the taste of hell" in my life. I also had to make a clean break with my past and physically move across the country and go somewhere I could be re-formed in Christ. It has taken years for me to understand that God is not out to get us, but He is always chasing us, always calling us to Himself. If we are trying to conform ourselves to Christ, then we have to have the same way of being towards our brothers. Could you talk a little more about heaven? Modern depictions of heaven are silly, I think we all see that. But it can be difficult to reconcile "God desires that all be saved" and (my understanding of) having to die in baptism to be saved. Do people experience heaven differently based on their holiness/love of God/ lives? I really got a lot out of this episode but I had to listen to it twice to get it. But I still don't know who time-stamp man is! 🙂
Is there a Royal Path bat signal I can put up, because the recent news has shown to me how little people actually understand the message of this podcast haha. I kind of got it immediately, the hard move to the right is being ushered in. But so many people are falling for it, I’m trying to warn them but who am I? Haha Forgive me that this is irrelevant but I just wanted a quick place to to say my thoughts and hopes for an episode. For the group of people not getting it not even just me. I guess I can say I’m a little disturbed by it
@@Andrewkfunk Great, that’s a total relief. I got into some pretty nasty fights on Twitter because I’m not equipped at all to explain to people why this turn to the right they’re seeing isn’t a good thing. Too many passions lol.
If you're talking about Carlos Acutis that's the kid that put together the Eucharistic miracles. He put them all together in one spot so that people can view them. He was 15. He died. You remember that part don't you? You know the death part the part that left his parents without their child? Just wondering cuz it kind of seems like you forgot about the regular stuff like pain and suffering for the survived. Believe me Rome is in heresy I get it. Show some respect and decency Christian.

How about you take your own advice and be more careful before you put a little primer out there or an intro. There is such a thing as good bait and then there is such a thing as bad bait. And just so you know, I wouldn't be watching your show if I didn't think you guys were doing a good job so keep up the good work in Christ and God bless you and your families
If we were insensitive I apologize, that was not the intent. Making a mockery of his death was not the intent, we were calling into question the agenda taking place after his death by powers that we know are not following Christ. I often fall short though. This whole podcast has taught me I come across a lot differently than I intend to.
@@d0ksa I guess if you were a shallow person, or materialistic, you might not see the fullness of it; or might not understand what water is. I know a lot of people who almost entirely ignore water and what it is. That’s possible.
