    I work for Pandora, and we use a special liquid with a cleaning machine. This is an excellent technique for in-home cleaning.

    OMG! Thank you for this information! I use soap pods instead of laundry powder, so I put a healthy squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid into the bowl instead. Within five seconds I could see a huge difference in my tarnished sterling silver jewelry! I appreciate how laid back you were with the amount of each "ingredient". No measuring. Yay!

    OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have a really old ring made of sterling silver and a huge teardrop amethyst... I did this and WOO HOO!!!! It looks new!!!!! I didn't want to scrub like you were saying you didn't want to do earlier, especially between the tiny little 'teeth' surrounding the stone, the leaves, and the little swirls of 'Ivy'. I didn't have powder laundry soap but used powder (dishwasher) dish detergent... Stirred, dropped it in and held my breath. lol It wasn't even in there ten seconds, and I could see it shining!! I pulled it out, rinsed it, dried it off with a soft cloth and it looks like I just bought it last week! THANK YOU THANK YOU

    This is amazing. You were forever, getting comments, especially if someone like myself tarnished their bracelets by putting it in hot water and baking soda. I freaked out and then I thought let me go to TH-cam. Thank you. It worked. I followed your instructions completely. I didn’t have to leave mine in the water long at all less than one minute until my eyes the silver is shiny.

    • @lorabuddyandrob2290
      @lorabuddyandrob2290  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, this method isn’t great with yellow gold, you will need to leave out the detergent as it is can lead to the gold going slightly black. It will need wiping afterwards. You will be safe will other materials thought. Sorry for the slow response.

    • @AnneOnymaus
      @AnneOnymaus ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @Noel Schwartz I'm sorry to disagree with Rob, but some things must absolutely not be cleaned this way. Real pearls, enamel & some gemstones can be damaged by immersion in water alone, never mind the added chemicals. Also, plain sterling silver should be rinsed with clean water after cleaning as residue left behind can cause damage.

    Will this remove any black accents on silver that were originally part of the piece?

      I have been using this method for years on my wife’s and friend’s jewellery. I have never had an issue. However if overdone it is possible to remove the oxidation.

      @@ElisaH-09 oh thanks , I have a good cleaner from the store I use, I meant I have never owned silver before so this is helpful .
      Interesting about the gold tho so salt cleans it ?
      I also heard the more you wear your silver the less it tarnishes ?

      @@lorabuddyandrob2290 thanks super excited ! I bought another one as silver is so affordable . My gold bangle was thin and hollow so broke after just a few wears and cost so much :( I just fear it tarnishing so hope that doesn’t occur.

    Can i ask what’s the use of aluminium foil? Can I do without it?

    • @lorabuddyandrob2290
      @lorabuddyandrob2290  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey there Miffy. You need the Aluminium foil. There is a transfer of Ions that moves between the silver and the aluminium that helps to clean. Basically the dirt and grime jump from the silver to the aluminium.

    Can this be used on a silver and pearl bracelet?

    • @lorabuddyandrob2290
      @lorabuddyandrob2290  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can. The method won’t damage the pearl in any way.

      Being a jeweler for 30 years, do not put your pearls in this solution.
