    When I was a young kid, in school we made little air fresheners for our moms for Holidays. We used cloves in an apple and orange and decorated it with ribbon to hang, and fancy stick pins. I was so proud to give to my mom. I can still smell it today, and I’m 64. Mmmmmmmm..........

    If you’ve ever bought those air fresheners that have the gel beads inside, after they’ve dried up, empty out the container, clean them up and reuse them. Since they already have the lids cut out, They’re great for this idea. I also used one to hold baking soda and put it in my fridge. It looks nicer than having just an open box of baking soda sitting in there. Thanks for sharing your wisdom! Much appreciated!

      Thank you so much! As soon as she said fabric softener I thought; no. Now, I'm not familiar with these bead products, who makes them? Also, about how much dried lavender and where do you buy that? Actually - if you don't mind - can I just have your recipe with measurements? ☺

      I agree about Fab Soft, never use on towels or any fabric that needs to absorbent because the Fab Soft leaves a coating which will build.. I do use it sometimes for clothes but have a well watered down version I mix myself. Its so not good for the water quality or the seas.. Those dreadful plastic scented "balls" also. Fish are being poisoned! I have pets & never forget their sense of smell is hundred of times more sensitive than ours. I think if thongs are kept clean & fairly uncluttered a home does not need to be "perfumed" all the time as Melissa mentioned.

    Spice jars, like cinnamon, have a shaker top, grated Parmesan, wash and save container. Diatomaceous earth, will absorb the essential oil, takes a long time to dry out, just re-moisten and keep going. Cloves are excellent to repel wasps, save the little bags that garlic comes in, fill to make a sac of cloves to be used for a nice scent or baseboards to repel insects and rodents. Doesn’t seem to work long term to keep dog walkers away, though.

    You also could use a nail and hammer to make holes in the jar lid with the lid off the jar. I would be afraid of ruining and dulling my knife. After making holes from the top down, turn the lid upside down on a hard, flat surface with a piece of cloth under it (so the lid won’t get scratched) and use the hammer to flatten the sharp edges of the holes punched by the nail and hammer.

    Many people are allergic to fabric softener, even unscented. I have asthma and breathing the chemical in fabric softener (and most cleaning products) triggers attacks. Many of us who suffer from chemical triggered asthma can’t even go near the cleaning and laundry isles in the grocery store. I suggest using real lavender, even essential oils would be a good alternative. Will be trying this with the essential oil. Thanks for posting and love how pretty this looks. Looking forward to more of your videos.

      I've had a bat flying around in my home 3 years in a row. Having researched a little since then, I learned they can squeeze into the tiniest openings. I'm on the 3rd floor outside a tree they hang out in, though I haven't seen them in a while. The thing is, they're beneficial, so I refuse to try to get rid of them (except from my condo!😁). And they're always desperate to get back out.

    Fabric softener has toxic scents and toxins you really do not want to have as they cause illness. A good substitute for softeners could be essential oils as they are not toxic, other than that I like this video. God bless you & your viewers.

    Fabric softeners have un-named “perfumes” that are actually toxic chemicals - “perfume” can be made from these toxic chemicals. A lot of things around the home have this “perfume” - shampoo, detergent etc. I have gotten rid of all these and use only natural products.

  • @Aeronwen813
    @Aeronwen813 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for sharing this lovely idea. Would it not have been easier to make the mixture in a dish which is would make stirring less difficult. Then you can transfer to mixture to your chosen container. To get the correct amount of salt for your container, just put the salt in first them pour it into the mixing dish. Add the other ingredients and stir well. Transfer mixture to your chosen decorative diffuser.

      Wipe all surfaces over with a combination of hot water and white vinegar, should help to reduce the smell. The vinegar evaporates as long as you have good ventilation. It can also help to reduce the impact on people with allergies.

      Also apple cider vinegar for fruit flies …they come to see and fall in, people spray for pantry moths, no need, use ACV where they’ve been seen.

      You can buy cloves in the spice aisle at the supermarket. My Sprouts grocery store has a bulk spice section, and they are cheaper there.
