John I think Q10 really doesn't like that box I have seen in the right box and he is fine. I remember he was a a very chill horse previously. The 1st time I saw him play up was in the left box I think he was bitten by a horse fly and since then he seems to have developed a phobia about that box.
@@BlueIsis433 Yes, exactly. That classic meltdown video was in the same box: th-cam.com/video/Glb39LAtORY/w-d-xo.html
@@BlueIsis433
Quite a few of the Horses don’t seem to like the left hand Box for some reason.
🙄
@@charlie4739 9/10 meltdowns are in that box. My money is on it being due to the fact that left box is directly opposite the junction with Horse Guards Avenue.
@@LondonCityWalks Also directly opposite where Charles 1 was executed, maybe they need to get a priest in to perform an exorcism lol.
They need a half door like Mr Ed had!! lol. For those of you old enough to remember him. 😊😊😊😊
A Dutch Door...
Hate to admit it, but I remember that beautiful Palomino. Of course, I was only 2.📺😅
0:29 I remember Mr Ed,a horse is a horse of course of course😊
A little info on Sizzler’s name. He’s called Sizzler MC in honor of then CoH Shaun “Sizzler” Fry who was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in Afghanistan in 2006.
Love this background information. Thank you for sharing it @geliconner9669 😊
As always you are a mine of information , thank you 😊
Thats lovely to know how and who they name the horses. Thank you x
Q10 has acted out on several occasions and gotten out of working. It appears today it was decided he needed to start earning his oats. From there it became a battle of wills. I am totally in awe of both sides! As for breakfast, looks like someone forgot to tell the newbie No Eating on the Job. 😂
Really enjoyed the video today, I do like the less crowded horse guards, very relaxed and everyone seemed to not have to rush to get the picture. Especially when the little girl talked to the bowman in the right box and asked if she could touch the horse and he told her yes and where was best to touch him. It was a very nice interaction.
Im noticing, with some relief, more horses are being ridden on the snaffle instead of the harsher curb. Frothy is good. Q10 is happier with the snaffle. Some horses arent used to lots of clanking, pinching metal in their mouths. Some are softer. Some are new. They train to start on a rubber snaffle. Its a huge adjustment for the full bridle. Lots more mechanics involved in a curb. And more uncomfortable in heavy hands. Q10 is definetly happier since his rider changed reins. He also may have been bitten by a bug. That tail swishing and kicking looked like it. Addition of fans in the boxes would help. Btw, the snaffle is that top rein and a softer, gentler bit. The curb is that bottom rein, which is harsher. Hopefully theyre learning that snatching at the mouth doesnt win the battle. It designed for other things, not "power steering".
Thank you for explaining the differences in the equipment these horses wear.❤️
Trouble with using just a snaffle is lack of control.
Thank you so much for your explanation about frothing horse mouths. I’ve never been around a horse and have no real knowledge of horse gear other than what’s spoken of in films or written in books. Watching these videos as the horses worry mouth pieces until they’re frothing has caused me anxiety.
@@kiltlvr Nothing to be anxious about , a horses sweat and saliva contain a substance called latherin which creates a foamy saliva and sweat , which also helps with the cooling process . Chewing mouthing the bit creates excess saliva like a baby sucking a dummy or a person chewing gum , though we don't foam at the mouth or shouldn't anyway 😁.
Thanks for the explanation, about the bridle and reins.
Thanks so much John, your the best and your vids are the best on TH-cam. The horse info is excellent.
Nibbles and headbumps. People want to touch the horses so turn about is fair play!😅👌👏
He is kicking out, because the trooper is telling him to do something that he doesn't want to do, he has attitude, earlier, the trooper was gently using his spur to get him to turn and back into his box, the horses way of showing dissent as to what he is being instructed to do.
The process to get partnership is hard work… I know that personally! As a one woman, it’s hard slog! But I do what I love…
.
I hope one day, my hard work will pay off too 🤔🤭
.
Love this channel so much 🐴🤛🏼
This beautiful horse is looking back as if to say I don’t want to be in this box. ❤👍👍🙏🏻⭐️
Something about these parade 'boxes' that the horses clearly don't like. Happen they're aware of something people can't see.....
Hello John , well that's been an interesting two parts , with the tiltyard being closed to the public, I'm sure some tour guides were frustrated at having to find alternative routes for their parties of tourists ! It did give us a chance to people watch , something I do like doing 😁😁. The one thing that amazes me is the number of people who willingly hand over their expensive mobile phones to complete strangers so they can have a photo taken , What !?!? Does it never occur to them that they could end up with no phone as the stranger does a runner ? I wonder if its ever happened ? Can you imagine trying to claim off your insurance , " well I handed my phone to a stranger so they could take my picture and they ran off with it " 😂😂😂. Then the poses , look at me please , gaze up at the Trooper adoringly ,point hold out hands - ooh look it's a horse ! Two fingers and thumbs up seems to be increasingly popular , until one day a wandering digit ends up on the ground in front of a very nippy horse 😂😂😂 . I shouldn't laugh , should I ?
I'm the other tourist who says to people, "Would you like me to take a photo of you with.........? (depending upon if they're trying to photograph a travel partner/group or are trying to get a selfie with something in the background). I can't remember the last time I've had someone say "No" to me - most people immediately realise you're a fellow tourist just trying to be helpful and usually after I hand back their phone, having taken their photo/s, they offer to take my photo with my camera. Since most people, who have today's smart phones, have some sort of security in place (PIN or fingerprint) to unlock their phones stealing them would be rather pointless.
John that young man was a Scout leader they wear the light cream shirts, thanku for another great video somthing different each day which makes your video's enjoyable to watch 🙂
I do believe that animals have much different sensory perceptions than we have. My cat will sometimes stare at something I can't see, but I know she's aware of that which I have no knowledge of. Brilliant vlog as usual thank you.
My cats are same way, when they come in at night they pause and keep looking back like theres something in our yard and in morning there are days they will go to the door and ghen refuse to go out, it seems its usually before a storm, even when im unaware ones coming
Ormonde and Qten have both stolen my heart ❤ and let the king know he can retire them to me in Australia please 😂❤
I’ll come visit if that’s okay 😁
@@gailchancellor9491 I let you know 🤣🤣

Hi John.
I love the way the horses get rid of the tourist by nibbling to say go away and leave me alone and get out of my space.
Q10 reminds me of a toddler who can’t get his own way. We all have off days so why not the horses .
Hey, we all have bad days.... why not horses? They can't tell us so they act out. Q10 is a beauty, even if he's having a bad day. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
Stunning horses, amazing guards what more do we need ,thanks john
oh dear not good poor Q10 he doesn't want to work I had noticed he's got an attitude like a teenager lol
He's a horse with attitude and a mind of his own who is wanting his own way the kicking out is his way of showing his objection to the leg aids from the Trooper and possibly some irritation from flies . Going by his name Q 10 I think he'll be around 12 years old .
Q10 heard the horse coming up from behind at was like yes im done i love when the horses look at you when you say there name
Hi John, thank you. Q10 is not happy, good thing the yard was clear so they could walk him. Hope it wasn't the music that upset him, he's going to have to get used to it as he will probably be part of The Trooping of the Colours, be a long day for him. Looking forward to watching it. All the best John from Australia. Q10 is a beautiful horse.
He’s my favourite, he was so calm the first time they brought him.
That box is haunted! It seems to be that one most of the time!
The tourist said to the trooper, "We love your tattoo!" (also, did anyone see the beef Q10 had with the other horse during the end of day inspection... Lol they both were trying to throw hoofs at one another! 🤣)
😂
I missed that.
Oh I have to agree with you John about the Mona Lisa - I know the importance of the painting in art history but quite frankly I found it so underwhelming when I finally managed to get to the Louvre and saw it. There is so much more art at the Louvre which is fantastic to view but without the massed crowds. I really enjoyed the Napoleon III apartments and we had it almost to ourselves, with so few tourists venturing into that wing.
me, too. i saw in New York and felt the same. i think Girl with the Pearl Earring is so more vibrant and enigmatic. however, DaVinci was a genius and his work is beautiful and very detailed. imagine drawing a bird in flight from only reality. i just don’t get why the Mona Lisa is so important. perhaps i need more knowledge!! 🌹
DaVinci was the master of the human form and his understanding of bone structure made realistic portraits. Mona Lisa is the most valuable painting but worth nothing if stolen because no thief could sell it. Unless of course to an eccentric egotist to hide away in a cellar! Dali my fave, he was a nutter!🙃
@@starvingartist2824You might like The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch in that case - beyond bizarre!! I love it. ❤
@zosemabubble7825 oooh, a lot to unpack there, may require further study! I wonder what the reaction was when he opened those side panels to reveal the tryptic? Surrealists in the 15th century... who knew!!!😂 Thanks!
@@starvingartist2824 I wish I'd been there to witness the unveiling ... I can only imagine the reactions! 🤣🤣🤣
We know q10 likes his space but he is taking it to a new level lol
I’m starting to like this Q 10❤ my opinion is I think you mention, this is an older horse, which if he is, it makes sense because he is already anticipating what’s in store for him with the tourists I’m thinking they open back door may settle him because in a fight or flight situation, he sees a way out just my opinion😎
WORK IS HAVING TOURISTS TOUCH HIM THINGS GOINGING THIS COULD B E STOPED ON IN THE STREET ETC TORMENTING HIM
Wonder if it is the smell of the urine in the stall?
What does happen to the horses in case of war?? John, you are there and have to take over, you know the horses😂
❤❤ 🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🐴⚔️🛡️🪖🥰👍 Beautiful Q10 and Beautiful Twickenham. Oh god I missed TH-cam channel of my Favourite Narrator, London City Walk.❤❤😊😂
I love how the hooves on the white socks look a sort of burnished gold, whatever they are varnished, polished with
Hoof oil
Hi John, if that works, then that what they need to do to keep the horse happy, good decision to help the horse
John, could you please tell me if it is spelled Holkham, after the beach where the horses are taken to swim during their summer break and the spelling of Veelight? Holkham's eyebrows are wonderful and very distinctive.
Indeed - Holkham!
@@LondonCityWalks Thank you for the confirmation.
Good morning all👋🏻 - America
Hi from the UK 👋
Good morning from USA 🇺🇸
@@barbaragholston8929😊
Thank you John as it has been another grand day with great content!
Thanks, John, for all that you do on this channel!
That women was funny! They don't bite little boys.😂 she missed the video with the boy that almost lost his head!
It's VEL- LITE- TEES, 3 syllables, Latin for a lightly armed soldier of the Roman Republican period. It's not a roof window!
Here i was thinking it sounded like a light vegetable juice 😂 Vel-lite-tees with that original sounds much better!
I love the back leg action, that's the kick they mention in the sign. They are not letting Qten win this time. And he did it!!! The Tourists are an interesting lot, I do enjoy their chatter and points of view when spoken in english. Have to go out shortly so will watch your second film later on my return. Thank you John: Kiwi from New Zealand, living in Virginia USA.
Well tbh John, the only way youre going to get the horses rationale is to ask him. Sadly it isn’t that easy because he can’t tell us in words. All we can do is go on his reactions and his body language and using experience to try to eliminate possible issues, but even the best horseman, in a case like this, is just making a “best guess” to try to figure out the problem. Thing is someone with a lot of experience will usually home in on the issue quickly, simply because they know what they can eliminate out of hand, but it’s still just a matter of “trying things till something sticks” Knowing the horse in question, their particular likes and dislikes also helps. One of our mares really wasn’t comfortable with males, and would often kick off a bit if a male with a loud or particularly deep voice was around her. If you know likely triggers you can prepare for them. TBH this strikes me as a horse who wants his own way and isn’t happy he’s not being allowed it. He’s not being “bad” as such, he’s just trying what he knows will work to get out of doing something he doesn’t want to. Thing is allowing that behaviour is NOT going to wash in a working stable. He has to learn he sometimes needs to do things he doesn’t like.
All that said, I’m interested to know who his replacement is cos I’m pretty sure it’s either Vanquish or Velite, two horses we had a LOT of fun distinguishing the last time one was on 😂
Edited to add: Velite…….good to know 👍.
Q 10 is definitely a horse with attitude and a mind of his own ! I wonder if things had been " normal " with people in the tiltyard as usual he would have been taken in , because it was quiet and they could leave the box doors open safely they decided to continue returning him to the box . He made it to the change over despite his " antics " . A good lesson for him , well done that boy and Troopers 😊
If Q10 doesn't want to work that's it no one or mothing can change his mind. Good on you Q10.
They really need to check the Bits on the horses & Horses can hear & smell things we can not.
Thank you John.
This was incredible to watch. Thank you for continuing. ❤
Hello John, saw the lifeguards real fast this afternoon while on city tour bus, plan on going to see the horses sometime before going back to Canada ❤
Great content John, hope you're keeping well
Good to hear from you stranger. All good - and I hope you are too!
@@LondonCityWalks I'm good thank you, can't complain. Hopefully, I'll be able to get up to London more ... I am going Trooping the Colour in June, and also going to Beating Retreat in July , which I am looking forward to.
@@UK_Adventurer Will also be at both, so hope to see you there!
@@LondonCityWalks Unfortunately, I didn't get tickets for HM's Birthday Parade so I will be at The Mall for that one, but I got tickets for the Colonel's review :)
I love your commentary. It’s very kind and very informational. Thank you!
Love Q10 long tongue he just doing it might be habit he has with the right hind snorting is a good sign i think he wants to hide from the tourist 😉
What a beautiful horse ! I feel for him...I'm sure he will get used to it...eventually ! 😊
Q 10 is still my favorite. He just had a bad day. Thanks to the fans who told us about the bits and reins.
У лошади тени на глазах, какая прелесть.
Да, он действительно красивый конь!
Wish the tourists would keep their hands of the horses face, some horses can be very sensitive at being touched there. My Albino mare hated it when people came up to her and put their hands all over her face, it caused her to constantly head shy😮 that i had to stop people coming near her when we were out a ride together.
Maybe someone here knows, but regarding that officer who needed to get his own milk, isn't this a barracks? Is there a canteen attached?
Regarding the refusals, I'd be checking what's different about the boxes.
Hi John.
There is something wrong with that box..the horses dont seem happy..maybe its a ghost of horses past !!!!
HOLCOMBE is a cool name. He has 2 black spots on his nose..lovely horse.
Your "french beret looking lady" looked like a spy lol
😂😂😂giant haystacks😂😂😂, thats the laugh i needed!!
Is it me or has anybody else noticed that nearly all the Troopers have now got some sort of facial hair lol
30 secs to look at a picture of a woman who doesn't smile, i wouldnt give 10 lol 😂😂 .
I would love to see what its like behind the scene's for Trooping of The Colour, bet there's a few keeping their fingers crossed.
C u tomorrow, and thank you.
Hi John, thank you for filming the Troopers and troopers horses. Is the weather cold in London today? It's 24/25 degrees in Elgin today & we're in tea shirt and cotton trousers. I notice that they're wearing coats etc. London is usually a lot hotter than Scotland. Thank you
Morning!
It’s always the left box. Maybe noises sound different in that box. there is a place at my work that has a funny echo almost tin can sound if you stand in the right place. It seems like when there is a louder environment the left box Horse Trooper clocks out for the shift. Just a thought
It could be a mix of these things once they got away with getting out of standing there they will try again he has to kick at belly is flies they will play with bit foam at mouth or was given polo by troper hope this helps john
❤❤❤❤ that's his way of throwing a temper temper but they should have gave him some water to help calm him down they will wash him off and get all of the slobber off of him he will be fine ❤❤❤❤
If I may add the kicking of the right back leg, the trooper as you using what’s called an aid to communicate to the horse that he wants him to back up on a horse, tosses his head, and in this case also is raising his right leg he’s resisting the communication through the spurs, which is an Horsemen talk an “ aid “
Talking about the trooper crossing the road with the briefcase, ( joking around), imagine having a leader of your country ( who has the codes) who doesn't even know his own name being responsible for the fate of the world. 😳😳 That's what terrifies me and we're in that situation right now! 😂 Funny but not funny!
Plus, he can't find his way off a stage...
Holkham after Holkham Beach. This is where they sometimes take the horses to run free on the beach and in the sea if they are at Bodney. It's like a little holiday for them.
Thanks
Thank you as always for being so kind Lesley! ❤️❤️
Favourite trooper on Holkham
Hi John you never know maybe the horse is bit claustrophobic but well done to the trooper❤❤❤❤
Yesterday he was favoring that back right leg. I’m sure they’ve checked him.
Good day John. Is that the very tall trooper on Q10? I recall you saying you don't often see him as a boxman.Noticed his very deep voice while talking to the other trooper. Enjoy your Wednesday! ❤🐴🐴
They look very similar but no, it's not the very tall Life Guard on Q10.
👍Thank-you!
Thanks!
Thank you John for sharing your time and knowledge
Am glad I seen the Mona Lisa in Paris in the 1970s got a lot longer than 30 seconds
John wonder why they don’t just change from one horse box to the other q10 is more relaxed in the other box .
Just swap them over for one time to see if they settle in .
Good morning John. I will catch up with what I've missed gradually.
Reading other comments. Approve of snaffle to. A couple of the guys have a heavier hand which is hard on their bars.
This hot should be a still photo. Have a lovely day. 💖🇺🇸
Rather than rely on memory, I googled it! Because, ‘they’ are everywhere! Even in the city of my heart, “London, MOSQUITOES!!” Like people, animals are not impervious! My gPA (RIP) would crush cloves then soak them in water, (he kept barrels of it) using this to rinse his horses after a bath! Just one of the amazing uses for #CLOVES 🇬🇧🏇🏽🇺🇸
wonder whats with at other white spot between his eyes...i've seen him quiet a few times and only this time and last was the spot there...never saw him foam like that before at all
This guard on your right is our handsome one not seen him for a while❤❤❤😅😅😅
Hi John bless Q10 I'm sure something was bugging him one way or another weather it was work or not he wasn't a happy horsey. Thank for sharing, new friend here ❤
Hello horses + guards. From rainy Winter Haven Florida. DeSantis has zero tolerance for campus protestors. ❤🏇🏇❤
Hi John. Linda from Florida. I love Q10! I think the kicking out is just an attitude thing. I don't think he likes his job. I think he needs to retire & come to my stable. 😊
20:10 Sure looks like the horse that reared up several times (26.04.2024 i think) refused to enter the right hand box, did very well to stay mounted.
John Q10 is putting his leg down very gently after he has kicked out maybe there is a stone or something on his hoof
He has kicked out like that before. Someone suggested that he could be colicky. Me I have no idea
Froth is fine. He's chomping his bit a lot, and that will produce froth. Also he could be very hot and it helps to cool him. He might have benefitted from water. Standing on a humid day and carrying a hefty weight and being handled - no matter how much training, it would be quite normal for him to resist. That back kick is a further sign of resistance.
Good afternoon, John! I really feel sorry for Q10, as I watched already your part 1. I hope he will get some time off.
His most famous appearance: th-cam.com/video/Glb39LAtORY/w-d-xo.html
I remember that one, watching your videos for some time now 😊 Thanks for showing us again, John!
Good Morning John...Happy Wedneday...looks like some repeats from yesterday.....must be from the practice thats going on in the back area..good...have a super day.

Loved the cricketer!!😂😂😎🌻
Giant haystacks, John. He died in November 1998 aged 52. 😂
Maby Q10 likes the blues more😂
Good morning John. And the horse probably just doesn't want to be in the box today. Maybe he really doesn't like being there.
Did part of this video get cut? When I clicked on it you were already at Horse Guards, questioning if Q10 would stay in the box. And you didn't say hello to us. There's definitely a part of the video missing.
This video was part two as the original source was over two hours long, hence edited into two parts. 🙏🏻
Stopped by to say hello John..take care
Hi John. I'm watching Part 2 of Huge Horse Quits 6 Times. Q10 has been replaced by Velite and on the chitmans side, Holcomb or Fulcomb replaced Twickenham, I think you said. Would you verify those names for me, and let me know what happened to Indigo. I only saw him once and he was one of the first horses that I drew for my notes. I was sad to hear of his passing. Thanks again for your dedication, integrity and your humor.
This box is haunted a lot of the horses won't stay in it. Q10 is my favorite
Gorgeous
Holkham and Velite ???? Can't spell 2nd horse name. What a fabulous looking pair.
But Holkham looks like a wise one with his Invader like white eye brows. 😊
❤❤❤❤ the horse may be a little Cross of phobic that is possible❤❤❤❤
If he’s new there I can imagine it takes a bit scary!
He's far from new - but Q10 is the pluckiest of the HCAV horses and basically does what he wants due to his colossal size.
@@LondonCityWalks He's a horse with attitude 😀
Quite a few of the horses really seem to have trouble with the bit. Could the horses be allergic or something else is wrong with the bit? I would certainly consider the possibility.
Just a thought. Many people carry and still use hand sanitizer frequently and if you've ever gotten in onto your lips or in your mouth via your hands, your would know it is a foul, burning taste. Often people walk up and open their palms to the horse and a lick or two of leftover sanitizer could be absorbed, maybe causing an upset stomach? Just a thought...
It appears that back leg is bothering him. He could have twisted it, I saw that leg wobble when he was walking. I’m going to say his leg was hurting him
He was showing n no signs of pain ,
Seems to be looking inside the box. Maybe a mouse rustling in the leaves.
They need rubber mats to stand on.
The ‘bong just binged’? Curious video today John
