This is podcast is actually so important to the cod scene. Having all these first hand accounts of the very early days of competitive call of duty and talking about it's history is something really special. I don't think a lot of us would ever know about these details without this podcast. Thanks, Crim
Yeah the crim and pat talk is so cool. I hope they get teep as well and karma and scump and formal and clay and nade, in importance in that order. That would be so cool. I feel like crim doesn’t talk about personal stuff like love, but I know he loves everyone I just named. Especially the col boys. Crim and aches and teep and clay and karma should be boys for sure. Idk if they are but I hope so, and I hope they can talk now about the crazy ass past and how it was before it’s time and how they could play in their prime together today.
He was meant for this. Let’s not forget these guys are pretty normal once the camera goes off. We love this shit because of the characters in the scene and Pat and Ian play them perfectly
that Lacefield bo3 story is insanely perspective changing. Obviously sad about that loss in the long run, but extremely happy for that c9 team in that context
i’ve been playing cod since cod4, starting as a 9yr old kid and now being 24, almost 25. it’s insane to finally see a lot of the insight on the backstories, i had only heard small things from friends around gb’s/cdl. this was an insane eye opener and i got so much love for all the og’s in the cod scene.
This was one of the best CoD related podcasts I've ever seen, holy shit. Brings back so many crazy memories. Porter, you are built for this man. Keep it up
It was honestly a perfect progression for me with everyone in the COD Scene. I was 11/12 years old watchin Crim come into the scene and dominate with coL & Fariko n Haggy owning all of BO2 & I was just so pissed as a kid wanting Scump to win lol. But after 10+ years & growing up I realize how important y’all were. That’s why I love everything bout comp cod, cause at the end of the day y’all are just people like everyone else. Thank you both for everything you’ve done.
Always respected aches when he played because he won so much, but really grew to like him as a person after retirement. Really appreciate his input on the flank even when it’s outrageous. He a very valuable part of the content scene
That first bit Aches said: "We used to just show up to make money and go home". Pro COD back then was a job, its turned into a lifestyle and a show. That explains so much of why the league is so different nowadays.
And like he said, players these days make it to pro and actually stop trying. Imagine trying to compete for kills with your new pro teammates, making everyone better. Or just taking your salary and calling it a day.
I remember watching it live and I was so happy when they knocked optic out. I went back to watch the vod and saw the comments from people who were there saying he was being extra spicey at the crowd because of the racial slurs. Some people thought he was just being a bad sport and he got even more racist comments online.
If it was a big deal to anyone they would’ve done something then. They all failed lace. Absolutely bullshit for these guys not to take any responsibility
Two god damn legends! You love to see it. Great first guest, love to hear you two talk about the old days. Thanks for being cornerstones of comp cod. Respect 👊🏼
I started watching cod in Bo1 and seeing the col dynasty first hand was crazy but now to here first hand accounts of behind the scenes is incredible best. this is by far the best cod related podcast yet and even ip there for podcast in general. cant wait to see who is on next
Awesome podcast man, I would truly like you to interview Mirx, let the man tell you in his own words how he sunk his carrer. I Respect all of you, you saw a oportunity more than 10 years ago and run away with it!
The CoL dynsasty was more consistent and more dominant over their peroid of time - only thing is they didnt last as long, but part of that is due to the org
@@PreacH0921 in terms of comp OpTic had a much higher skill ceiling. If you put Optic dynasty against CoL OG win it 9/10. What they did during their time was insane for how long they teamed. Top 3 team across how many titles?

Like Crim said Aches needs to do his own content. Because this interview changed my view on him. His personality just rubbed me the wrong way but i have a lot of respect for him after this. Very eye opening.
This was very insightful, and I really enjoyed it. All of these legends and stories of the beginnings of ESports! Ive been around since day 1, I found this very interesting. We need more. Maybe some of you boys will write a book about your experiences one day. Good stuff, Thank you!
This is it right here Crim. This is your super power. You can be gaming Joe Rogan. I genuinely enjoyed this. Hearing all the old stories took me back man. The only criticism I have, is maybe less interrupting and going off on side tangents mid story. Other than that, this was super dope. Much love brother.
imo these kids that hate on everyone else aren't true optic fans, we don't claim them. if your main way to support your team is to hate on others you're not a true fan. been an optic fan since bo2 and always had love for crim and aches they've done so much for the scene, 2 goats.
Cool to hear that all these legends are from NC. Just had my first son and hearing the determination from these guys bc of Damon and his family, awesome stuff!
anaheim bo2 was the first event i watched. that was when seth and nade were grinding in the summer at the house all the time. people hated impact so much. you guys were semi close to rounding out the show i was hoping you would mention ghosts anaheim octane comeback. i dont think the optic team for ghosts ever recovered from that. i wouldve loved to hear about 18 champs. i want to know more about the scump aches duo from bo1. and how you guys wanted to pick up scump during col run at some point. great episode. always awesome to see pat be pat instead of his persona(even though the persona is entertaining). it is crazy to think that back then when getting 2quick all you needed was any main ar for success and couldnt find one, but now we have an abundance of mains
I remember that year of cod. Was insane. coL were probably the most dominant team I ever layed eyes on in cod comp history. With Fariko Impact and Denial being runner ups. Probably my Top 3 outside of the mainstream teams.
I really enjoyed this. Watched the whole thing and replayed a few things that made me laugh…. I really liked how your conversation kept drifting into little side stories 😂
It's funny in the first few minutes they mention crim grinding a million dollar Battlefield tournament that never happened. He immediately got on one of the biggest teams (Dc5 or TGB I think?) and all of us Battlefield players thought he couldn't be that good because he was a halo player and the games are obviously very different . Then we all found out how good he was when we played against him in scrims. Just naturally good at any FPS and could become one of the best on any franchise so quickly. (on console at least)
This was such a great watch. During this time period they're speaking about I only kept up with Halo, so it's awesome to get such insight into the COD scene! Also, it was really nice to hear Pat just talking and not having Ben tryna argue every other sentence. 😅 can't wait for more episodes!!
I used to be one of those shit stain optic fan kids when I was 13-15 and now I’m 23 and I gotta say, Aches is the shit. He doesn’t get nearly enough credit for making the cod scene thrive like it does. These were some awesome stories to listen to.
It is amazing to think that even to this day people see the ending of that BO3 match as Aches and co being disrespectful. Puts it into a different prospective and for sure shows why Lace was going off at the fans at the end of it. Even the commentary team at the time called them the most recent villains in call of duty... sucks he had to have all that negative energy in what was his career defining moment.
Back in the day I was die hard watching cod but always respected Pat and enjoyed his content, he played the heel so well and cod esports would have died without nade/aches, they literally were the pulse of cod for 3/4 years
The way Aches opens up the convo is true af, separating the player on stage v the person off the stage is an important factor that people forget about. This is me commenting like 5 minutes into the video lol
As someone who was watching Cod since 2011, seeing the other-side of the story that an OG fan is accustomed to is insane and now understandably Important. MirX put his trust into Haggy and Sloss too much that’s what held him back because he should still be playing!
