Found my original unopened blu ray copy of Dogma while moving recently. Someone told me it was a rare find. All this does is confirm that buying physical media is the way to go.
It’s interesting for kids. Most people don’t realize that back in the day the politically correct people were the stuffy republican upper echelon assholes. How the tables have turned.
@perrycoffey5410 I've been trying to rewatch it for well over 10 years now, and i simply can't find it. Damn thing was on every week for years when I was growing up
Still have my Dogma Special Edition & PCU DVDs. PCU is a version of Animal House for a 90's audience. Still relates well to today. To see where it all came from. Dogma and the Buddy Christ was hilarious.
Blood In Blood Out is on TH-cam. Theres one good upload of it but there is section where the sound drops out because of copyright but other than its fine. There's a few different uploads of it so be careful which one ya pick. One the screen freezes towards the end and its just the sound until its over.
I still quote PCU. " COFFEE, COFFEE NOW!" and of course " Causeheads". You can find HQ dvd and blu rays of Cannonball Run, Corvette Summer, Hooper and a ton of obscure car movies at any major car show. I got my collection from the Pittsburgh World Of Wheels.
Murder by the Book a 1987 TV Movie with Robert Hays as a mild mannered Mystery Writer who gets caught up in his work that his fictional character from his books arrives to him in hullicinations. Very Hard to find, despite coming out on VHS has never been available on DVD, Blu Ray or on Streaming. Another one for your list.
Late last year, I got to watch Freaked at a double-feature with Gremlins 2. I have been a fan of both those movies but had never seen either of them on the big screen and was so grateful to the New Beverly for screening them
I know that Fright Night 2 is extremely rare and hard to find. It's very expensive now also. Jeremy Piven has a lot of movies like this also. Not sure if it's out of print but I remember watching a movie called Dr Jekyll and Ms Hyde all the time back in the day. It had Tim Daly and Sean Young in it.
This is an interesting list. I actually have 5 of the 10 in my DVD collection (Dogma, Cannonball Run, Shoot to Kill, PCU and Ricochet). Movies are getting harder and harder to find but still have my collection.
I have an extensive DVD collection too including many movies that you can't find any longer and I keep adding to it. Unless you can hold it in your hand (DVD's or Blu-ray) you don't really own it.
These following Disney/Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures titles have never been released on DVD or Blu-ray: Off Beat (1986), The Rescue (1988), Run (1991), True Identity (1991), Passed Away (1992), Jerky Boys: The Movie (1995) and Shadow Conspiracy (1997).
Its definitely not a mystery why that god awful trash fire Jerky Boys movie has never been released on dvd or blu-ray....That trash is god awful. they typically want to release things that the majority of people want, not just a handful of people
I really wish disney would release a 4k version of blood in, blood out it is one of my favorite movies and after all these years it would be great to see it in 4k and with the subtitles when the actors speak spanish and possibly more extra footage.
I was lucky to find a double feature dvd with PCU and Airheads several years back when Walmart still carried a sizeable dvd section. (Man, I miss those 5$ bins.) Two other DVDs i own that are hard to find are Trick or Treat, the 1986 horror movie with cameos from Ozzy and Gene Simmons, and The Worst Witch starring Fairuza Balk. Both i was incredibly lucky to get on amazon before prices skyrocketed.
Cannonball Run has been available in Australia on bluray for years, and just been re-released. Also in a double pack with the sequel. Available from Umbrella Entertainment
The one thing that took me by surprise about *"Ricochet"* was that Bionic Woman Lindsay Wagner was in it and she was great. I'm surprised she hasn't done more films.
I just paid $30 for PCU. I couldn’t believe it was out of print and so expensive. Personally, I like visiting estate sales, and buying up CDs and DVDs. That’s how I got Cannonball Run and The Abyss 😊
I can at least feel proud of having Dogma, 28 Days Later and Blood in Blood Out on DVD. One that you left off that’s also unavailable anywhere is Red State.
Try looking for 'Shoot to Kill' under the title 'Deadly Pursuit'. That's the title used in the UK. I had no problem finding it on DVD (I rented it on VHS in the 80's and also had a VHS copy taped from Sky Movies in the early 90's). The UK Sun newspaper gave away copies of Cannonball Run on DVD about 15 years ago. I still have my copy in the cardboard sleeve it came in. I also have Ricochet and 28 Days later on DVD.
The Cannonball Run is pretty easy to find, on Blu-ray, in Australia. So, if you want to import it, that is your best shot. Hard movies to find, on blu-ray, are The Punisher - Director's Cut, Johnny Mnemonic, The Wraith and The Condemned.
I think dvd still looks fine for most stuff. I don't really care about bluray unless it's a big action movie or something where the visuals are the most impressive thing about the movie (like "avatar" or "life of pi"). I grew up with VHS on an 18" TV, and didn't even have cable, so I'm not picky.
I've said the same thing for a long time, and still generally agree. If it's a good movie then it's a good movie. I enjoyed the heck out of movies on VHS when I didn't know any better. Alas, the more HD content I see on a regular basis, the more jarring it gets to see how poorly DVD compares. One minute I'm watching some youtuber's crystal clear 4k video recorded on their phone and the next minute I'm wondering how I never noticed just how soft and low-res Fargo is on DVD.
Videos like this make me really happy that I have owned my copies of Dogma and Freaked on DVD's for decades. I find it strange when I see people on the internet talking about physical media being dead when there's literally millions of movie collectors that have been collecting these films longer than social media has existed. I have recently picked up several Blu-ray disks of some of my favorite films as a kid of the 80's. There will always be people willing to spend their money on films they want to watch as long as there are films still being put on physical media and people will want to re-watch them. This is the biggest problem with films these days, most films aren't worth watching more than once and are dated as soon as they are released. The true sign of a film that will remain timeless is how people will want to re-watch a film after the initial hype of their release has died down. It's because of physical media that many films have become cult classics years or even decades after their theatrical release. Even a film that appears to be successful can age poorly and will eventually be forgotten in time.
I had seen wired the book in searches somewhere as it was searching for Condon, Ness, weird magazine, but I was surprised to know that there was a dark drama available about John Belushi. Thank you.
One that should be spotlighted in a future episode is The Chase (1994). This has never gotten a Blu-ray release anywhere and isn't on streaming. In addition, the DVD goes for quite a bit of money.
I love this series! I'll like to add that Rumble in the Bronx (1995), Police Story 4: First Strike (1996) & Who Am I? (1998) are only available in the west as an inferior US/international cuts.
Those are the only cuts I've ever known. Because I seen both at the show when I was in my early 20s. And I own both of these, so what are the other cuts you mention? Obviously First Strike would be called Police Story 4 in China. But I never knew Rumble in Vancouver Canada had any other cut.
@@Brickstyles2 When those movies were released in the west, they were re-dubed & heavily cut. For example: The original Hong Kong cut of Rumble In the Bronx is 104 mins. long, while US/international cut is 89 mins. The original Hong Kong cut of Police Story 4 is 107 mins. long, while US/international cut is only 84 mins. The original Hong Kong cut of Who Am I? is 117 mins. long, while US/international cut is 108 mins. For more info check IMDb.
So many films are hard to find on physical media or upgrades!! The sure thing, Sean Penn fims, sorcerrer, some films by Ron Howard, Extreme Prejudice, Films by John Boorman and many more have been forgotten or in some legal limbo because of music rights or something else!!
The Sure Thing just got reissued on Blu-ray by Sandpiper Pictures awhile back, and Extreme Prejudice has been on Blu-ray by Lionsgate for over a year now.
I have PCU on DVD. Talk about being way ahead of it's time! Also Phoenix with Ray Liotta and many other great actors can be found on DvD but I don't see it often. Great flick.
I have Cannonball Run on bluray. You can get it still on bluray new in a combo package as well. One that I've been looking for: The Last Chase with Lee Majors. I have it on VHS...
ok, these are impossible to find now on streaming or Bluray, Silver Streak (1976), Nickelodeon (1976), Marci X (2003), Happiness (1998) and A Wedding (1978).
Pcu is one of those movies I can remember like yesterday seeing on the shelf of blockbuster that I always wondered about but nva rented. I gotta find shoot to kill, that looks really good
Two great Irish movies, I went Down (1997) and Eat The Peach (1986) are well regarded in Ireland and still rare as rocking horse shite on DVD. They sometimes crop up on TH-cam or on TV, though. Both are worth a look.
i happen to have a copy of PCU, it was released with Airheads as a double-feature, and the PCU disc had no artwork , it was literally 2-sided DVD disc, one containing the film in 4:3 and the other in widescreen 16:9 ratio, and only special featurs other the trailer, was commentary i think and a music video by mudhoney if im not mistaken.
I once rented 2 movies to watch over a weekend. 'Can't Buy Me Love' with Amada Petersen and Patrick Dempsey and 'Three for the Road' with Charlie Sheen. Both seem pretty hard to find, particularly the latter film.
I feel fortunate that I have good copies of PCU, 28 Days Later and Shoot To Kill. Thanks for confirming my commitment I spent a decade on was well spent. So many movies cannot be found streaming and are no longer in print on DVD.
Most of Jackie Chan movies from the 90s like Who I am, Mr nice guy, Police story 3 & First Strike, Drunken Master 2 and also the first Project A from the 80s
You are only like the 3rd person I've ever mention the 3rd cannonball run... Likely because it wasn't technically released as cannonball run 3 but as Speed Zone I believe, and no one saw it. But John candy and Eugene levey killed it. Pcu and freaked are both super under rated.
The Legend of The Lone Ranger (1981). It stars Jason Robards and Christopher Lloyd. I've seen this film broadcast on TV, but is not available for streaming; nor is it available on DVD/Blu-Ray. Heartbeeps (1981). Stars Andy Kaufman and Bernadette Peters. I saw this film quite a bit on cable TV in the 80's. Not even sure if it was ever made for DVD/Blu-Ray or even streaming.
Blood In Blood Out was awesome when it was released...flew under the radar lol. IIRC HBO use to play Ricochet on heavy rotation back in the day. I remember watching it repeatedly because nothing else was on and who doesn't love John Lithgow and Denzel?
Blood in blood out is on TH-cam. The version uploaded by DASH is the best. I found DVD at Walmart years ago it was bundled with American Me. I met Damian Chapa who played Miklo a few years back when he was doing a meet and greet tour. Love that movie. The guy who played Big Al passed away this week.
I'm glad I have a big dvd /bluray collection for this reason exactly. But, some of the movies mentioned in the 1st video found their way onto streaming. Dawn of the Dead being one of them. I hope some of these will make it to streaming as well. But if they don't, I'll be digging through the collection to find them.
The Burt Reynolds movie Hooper was kind of hard to find a few years ago. The one I picked up is pan and scan. Although it showed up on TUBI recently, so maybe that has changed. Their version looks nice.
Wow, Shoot To Kill. I'd nearly forgotten about that one. I'll have to dig and see if I still have my old tape that I recorded it from HBO. Probably looks terrible by now. lol
I was lucky enough to find a dvd of Cannonball Run, for very cheap. Hey, would you guys consider doing a video over classic films, that for whatever reason, have never been released on any home video format. Like the 1959 remake of the Blue Angel, Slow Dancing in the Big City, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Freckles, Shock Treatment (the 20th Century Fox film from 1964, not the 1981 film), etc. ?
Add "Dark Blood" which was River Phoenix's last film. It was unfinished, with River still needing to film four scenes. It was never released because the family thinks it puts River in a bad light (he was playing a nasty character in the film) and it would be cashing in on River's death.
I'm ready for it. My recent theory is that it's of questionable taste but not as bad as people claim. The few reports from people who've seen it are tainted from its reputation. Imagine a Jackson Pollack painting. 2 tour groups are being introduced to it. 1 group is told it's a bold expression of blah blah etc... the other group is told it was voted the worst painting in history. The 2 groups will have drastically different reactions to the same thing.
Cannonball run 1 & 2has been readily available in the US, UK, Australia on blu ray and dvd so not sure where you’ve been looking. I’ve literally just done a eBay search and filled with the movies. Plus Amazon and Zavvi and HMV stock them.
I've had my copy of dogma on DVD for like 5 years now. Before that I had a copy that got snapped and at that time finding a copy was not difficult but definitely harder to find than it should have been.
PCU was so ahead of it's time.. It's like Idiocracy.. It predicted the future. Ricochet to me is one of Denzels greatest performances. It lead the way for him to become The Equalizer.
I have a couple of these movies and it drives me nuts that Cannonball Run is not available to even purchase, I was 12 when that came out and it's a favorite
Can’t find Charlie Sheen’s “The Chase” from the 90’s. Owned it on VHS as a kid and loved it. Looked online and the Blu Ray looks like a bootleg. Can’t find the DVD anywhere if it even exists.
It's funny, but as I'm watching this video, I'm checking Amazon for each of the titles and wow! Nearly every single one is available to buy on DVD or Blu-ray or rent! So much for being "hard to find". LOL!!
I personally thought "Gaby: A True Story" from 1987 would be on the list because it's not streamed and only has a VHS and DVD version for sale… I'd have to check to be sure if the DVD is official or not but I'm pretty sure it's not available for streaming… it's on TH-cam, but every time I see it, it's Audio is muted/stripped out…
Some more hard to find movies Airheads(1994) , The Scout(1994) , License To Drive(1988), Lucas(1986) , Jumping Jack Flash(1986) , The Star Chamber(1983), The Pick Up Artist(1988)
I was lucky to find Airheads and PCU in a double pack several years back. Jumpin' Jack Flash was available on Tubi last year. I was able to watch it and glad that it's still a fun movie.
@@jesseswarbrick7895 isn't it great?!! I've been pleasantly surprised to see so many movies and shows on there that no one else has. In fact I finally was able to watch the Cynthia Rothrock and Michelle Yeow movie, Yes, Madam, the other day because it's on tubi. Come to find out, it had an alternate title this entire time!
Watched Shoot to Kill recently for the first time and it was pretty good, though it wasn't the only action role for Sidney as he was in The Jackal in 1998 which is a damn good action thriller.
Great list. I think about 'Shoot to Kill' a few times a year, it disappeared from public conciousness. That, Cannonball & Cocoon I haven't seen since the late 80's. How has a modern Cannonball not been made? It's a great formula and not really the kind of movie people would have a problem with remakes/ sequels.

i happen to have a copy of PCU, it was released with Airheads as a double-feature, and the PCU disc had no artwork , it was literally 2-sided DVD disc, one containing the film in 4:3 and the other in widescreen 16:9 ratio, and only special featurs other the trailer, was commentary i think and a music video by mudhoney if im not mistaken.
I once rented 2 movies to watch over a weekend. 'Can't Buy Me Love' with Amada Petersen and Patrick Dempsey and 'Three for the Road' with Charlie Sheen. Both seem pretty hard to find, particularly the latter film.
I saw CBML on Sky Movies in the late 80's. One DVD I found hard to find was Moving with Richard Pryor. I thought it was under-rated.
"Three for the Road" can currently be bought as a manufactured-on-demand DVD as a double feature with a film called "Battle Truck".
@@caeserromero3013: Yeah , ”Moving” is such a Pryor golden nugget. I love that movie. Now I’m on a quest to get it. (That lawnmower hahahaha)
@@raggeragnar "Well, choke ma chicken!" 🤣
I have PCU on dvd bought it a few years ago on Amazon used
Dogma, PCU and 28 days later. I have them on DVD. The Last Starfighte is one I'd buy up quick.
We saw the Poitier film a couple of years ago. It was available on streaming just not currently.
Scavenger Hunt. It was a brilliant quotable comedy with probably one of the best ensemble casts in the history of movies!
The first Cannonball Run was briefly available for digital purchase on Amazon a year ago, but then it was removed.
You are only like the 3rd person I've ever mention the 3rd cannonball run... Likely because it wasn't technically released as cannonball run 3 but as Speed Zone I believe, and no one saw it.
But John candy and Eugene levey killed it.
Pcu and freaked are both super under rated.
Dogma i think is still on Utube
The Last Chase (1981) is very hard to find streaming or on DVD. It's about a post pandemic USA that bans gas fueled cars.
Blood in blood out, is on streaming, just watched it a couple months back.
Clancy Brown's hair 😅
How about the movie Short Time (1990) with Dabney Coleman?
The Legend of The Lone Ranger (1981). It stars Jason Robards and Christopher Lloyd. I've seen this film broadcast on TV, but is not available for streaming; nor is it available on DVD/Blu-Ray.
Heartbeeps (1981). Stars Andy Kaufman and Bernadette Peters. I saw this film quite a bit on cable TV in the 80's. Not even sure if it was ever made for DVD/Blu-Ray or even streaming.
Both Legend of the Lone Ranger and Heartbeeps have Blu-ray and DVD releases and neither are currently OOP. So not terribly expensive.
By the Sword with Eric Roberts, F Murray Abraham and Mia Sara. Also The Quest with Henry Thomas. Can't find these on DVD or Bluray.
Pump Up The Volume with Christian Slater was a 90s cult classic that is nowhere to be found today
I have it on DVD still.
Funnily enough, Cannonball Run 1&2 have just been re-released on Blu-ray in the UK today.
I have PCU on DVD. still enjoy watching it.
Probably looks terrible by now. lol
"Cactus in the Snow" starring Richard Thomas. Early '70s flick I still haven't found. Saw it when first released in theatres.
THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED
Never released in any form.
Apparently it will be released for the first time this year.
The 2 groups will have drastically different reactions to the same thing.
its free on communisttube my son@@dhenderson1810
Cannonball run 1 & 2has been readily available in the US, UK, Australia on blu ray and dvd so not sure where you’ve been looking. I’ve literally just done a eBay search and filled with the movies. Plus Amazon and Zavvi and HMV stock them.
I have 3 of these - Dogma, Cannonball and PCU. Neat video.
4:55 Riccochet was actually 1991
"Blood in, Blood out" is called "Bound by Honor" on IMDB.
Or by it's actual title, Blood In, Blood Out.
Johnny Dangerously is extremely hard to find
I've had my copy of dogma on DVD for like 5 years now. Before that I had a copy that got snapped and at that time finding a copy was not difficult but definitely harder to find than it should have been.
PCU was so ahead of it's time.. It's like Idiocracy.. It predicted the future. Ricochet to me is one of Denzels greatest performances. It lead the way for him to become The Equalizer.
I have a couple of these movies and it drives me nuts that Cannonball Run is not available to even purchase, I was 12 when that came out and it's a favorite
Cannonball Run is readily available on Blu-Ray. I picked up a copy at my local JB Hi-Fi
I’ve been trying to find the movie Pronto! It’s a Raylan Givens story starring James Legros. I started trying to find it when Justified came out
I just bought 28 Days Later used on Blu Ray yesterday, along with 28 Weeks Later.
I bought both on blu ray a few months ago and they were relatively cheap
@@Dr.Dark78 nice. I had them both on DVD, though I lent one of them and never got it back. Felt it was time to upgrade.
Most of these movies are very easy to find on dvd here in the UK, and Ricochet's transfer on the UK optimum dvd is great.
Faboys is free on TH-cam right now. I have Dogma on DVD, but there's a "legit" rip for free appearing in my feed daily.
Sling Blade is hard to find
So glad I have it on DVD. It's so good.
Can’t find Charlie Sheen’s “The Chase” from the 90’s. Owned it on VHS as a kid and loved it. Looked online and the Blu Ray looks like a bootleg. Can’t find the DVD anywhere if it even exists.
Stroker Ace and Just One of the Guys are very hard to find movies now. They're on DVD but not on Blu ray .
Just One of the Guys has been out on Blu-ray by Sony for the last three years.
It's funny, but as I'm watching this video, I'm checking Amazon for each of the titles and wow! Nearly every single one is available to buy on DVD or Blu-ray or rent! So much for being "hard to find". LOL!!
This video is Clickbait CRAP!.
Dogma is NIT hard to find on DVD. It isn't rare whatsoever, that is such a BS. MYTH!
Agreed. I am finding over 80%.@@GaryTongue-to3pw
Agreed. I am finding over 80% online.
I personally thought "Gaby: A True Story" from 1987 would be on the list because it's not streamed and only has a VHS and DVD version for sale… I'd have to check to be sure if the DVD is official or not but I'm pretty sure it's not available for streaming… it's on TH-cam, but every time I see it, it's Audio is muted/stripped out…
Shoot To Kill was called Deadly Pursuit here in Australia
Cannonball Run was released on blu-ray. I have it. Just looked and it was released in 2011. Do you guys have access to the internet?
Some more hard to find movies Airheads(1994) , The Scout(1994) , License To Drive(1988), Lucas(1986) , Jumping Jack Flash(1986) , The Star Chamber(1983), The Pick Up Artist(1988)
I was lucky to find Airheads and PCU in a double pack several years back.
Jumpin' Jack Flash was available on Tubi last year. I was able to watch it and glad that it's still a fun movie.
@cinema_chic I love Tubi, so many hard to find movies on there, especially 80s and 90s movies
Got Dogma on DVD surely. A buddy of mine even has the VHS somewhere I bet...
