Doctors are trustworthy and they have an immense knowledge. The issue is that healthcare is a generalisation and more focused on symptoms than causes. Unless you are rich and can afford a personal doctor or are lucky enough to get one of the few that goes above and beyond than they simply don't have the time or resources to delve deep into your history to work out the root cause which could take many hours and many tests. For the most part they operate by a system where they may take some visual/physical cues, input the symptoms you have and the system computes the most common medication to treat those symptoms. It works for most people and will often cure the underlying cause but some things are simply to complex and varied for that system to be adequate. Some things like indigestion or chronic diarrhoea for example can be multifaceted and different between individuals with the exact same symptoms. To narrow down the exact cause might take 10 hours of one on one appointments and a dozen tests - it's simply outside the practicality of most doctors to dedicate that much time to a single patient. However I do wish they were more willing to allow patients to self diagnose and listen to what they think might be the issue and medicate accordingly. It's very rare to find a doctor that is willing to ignore the system and genuinely consider the patients thoughts as an individual.
Right I am tired of doctors they have their purpose but I've been prescribed three different medications for high blood pressure. I have developed arterial sclerosis in the arteries leading to my kidneys, and after much desperation I found out about K2 D3 and magnesium and the ability to restore plasticity to my arteries no doctor wants to hear anything about anything they didn't learn in college which is pretty much everything. I am a caregiver for my brother who is mentally challenged with psychosis - talk about stress - since I have been taking ashwagandha I am much more relaxed and able to deal with the stress of taking care of him. It really works!.
I started taking ashwagandha because I found that my blood sugar remains high whatever I do. Then I realised that this is because I feel stressed all the time. I started Ashwagandha 150 mg twice a day and my blood glucose is near normal. After two weeks I have taken a day off all supplements except B Complex today. From tomorrow I will reduce Ashwagandha dose to 150 mg at night. It has definitely made me much calmer.
I have read some that people that take magnesium glycanate talk about how when they miss a dose. They have severe anxiety and depression episodes. Has this been the case for you?
I'm off alcohol, just some red wine, take calcium, magnesium and zinc . No caffeine after 3 pm. Now, I take Ashawgandha occasionally. Everything feels normal. Nothing bothers me anymore. It all started with Ashawgandha and magnesium glycinate close to bed time. Give it a try. See carefully what could be root cause in your situation.
Love the videos. As a pharmacist I’ve actually referred a few patients to your videos that have mentioned wanting to try natural alternatives (prefaced with check with your doctor). It’s crappy dispensing this junk to people every day but if I can help a few people find health with less medication it’ll be worth it.

I've been taking it for 4 months and I've received all of the benefits you mentioned. I've had chronic stress especially after kicking some anti depressants. Bro this thing works like a charm for stress.... Now I've stopped taking it for now. I've been taking 500mg with 3% withanolides for 2 months...and im telling you it made my life much better.
@@AnneAlready I took it after ive had my dinner. BUT hear me out. It depends on a few factors. Ashwagandha has both relaxing and stimulating properties so basically you have to try it out how it works for you. You don't want to disrupt your sleeping cycle too right. But I've felt it to get me to the relaxing mode so i consume it at night. One of the main property that ashwagandha does, is to reduce cortisol, and if thats the case we could consider taking it in the morning as cortisol is high after the waking up. Next main thing to consider is what form of ashwagandha you're using. If its root powder (be it in tablet/capsule or just the powder itself) then you must consume it with some fat source like dairy, nuts, eggs etc....as most of the active compounds of ashwagandha are fat soluble. Best thing to do is to take it with a meal and forget it. Or you could consume it with milk(you can add some sugar or honey too) Now if the form you are taking is an extract like ksm 66 (which i would prefer more) it doesn't matter you can just consume it at your convenience...but i would still take it with a meal. I took it for 2 to 3 months, took a break for 1 or one and a half months. I've used both root powder and the switched to Unived ksm 66 ashwagandha. I don't if its available at your place. Just get one from a reputable brand.
@@AnneAlready I took it after I've had my dinner. It kinda helps me relax. Just make sure you consume it along with a fat source. I've also have to mention i take vit d3 1000iu in morning with breakfast and magnesium glycinate 650 or 1300mg after my dinner and still continue taking these two. @@thetimewhack Thanks so much for that detail. I'll make sure to have some fat at the same time....haha just ran and got some. I bought a different brand, Allmax KSM 66 extract. Dr. Eric Berg, thank you for caring enough to produce ample video's on teaching folks how to care for self. This "Dramatically Reduce Cortisol Stress: Ashwagandha," video is an example. You've changed many lives.
When my grandmom was about 68. I told her that studies provided "evidence" that daily aspirin would reduce her risk of stroke. She was in fairly good health. She spoke to her doctor who put her on a daily regimen, which she adhered to for 16 yrs. At the age of 84, she was told her kidneys were badly damaged (by the use of the aspirin) and was taken off the aspirin. A few months later, I got wind of a study that said long term use of aspirin was no longer recommended. It is to my eternal regret that I didn't leave her to manage her health with her traditional /natural remedies, now that I realise how many "studies" are funded by corporations that skew data to fit their narrative. There is a reason that certain herbal remedies last beyond the few months or couple of years of a fad and have transcended generations for hundreds of years.
FYI aspirin is just the concentrated form of a natural occurring herbal substance that was used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. It absolutely does have benefits though and it potentially prolonged her life as well despite it eventually causing kidney damage which may have occurred anyway. Although it seems it's regular use might be less positive in women and more positive in men.
It's the doctors that caused the problem, NOT you! We have been conditioned to rely too much on man! Not what God gave us... your grandma did live a good long life tho, because she took care of herself before that switch.. Blessings ✨️
Same I’m on week 3. Plan to take it for another 3 weeks then come off 3 weeks and then take it again during exams. It’s true what he says. They also help in stabilizing testosterone and reducing blood sugars. I would take mine first thing in the morning at 6am and was beginning to worry because they’d be at 140 which is elevated. Normal should be in the 90s or up to 125 max. Mine reduced to the 80s and 90s within 2 weeks.
It took me roughly 20 days to see the effects of Ashwaghanda. It felt like I could finally take a deep breath and lower my feeling of stress. It’s as if it works on the fight or flight mechanism.
Make sure to keep taking it. I was stuck in fight or flight for a couple of weeks, going to bed stressed, and waking up even worse. Ashwaghanda helped tremendously, made me feel normal again
At 85kg body weight, I took one heaping teaspoon daily. The package recommended a level teaspoon. Nothing was happening with that dosage. So I upped it and I started to feel the effects.
Thank you so much, Dr. Berg! FINALLY a doctor who cares enough to be truthful and say the quiet part out loud! The past 3 years have made me question many things with regards to "big pharma" and the medications being pushed onto society. I've been following your videos for the past few years because I can tell you know...NTM everything you share is very detailed and absolutely great advice!
Thank God someone educated and shared this with me!! Ashwaganda works! And its not too expensive at all. Only like 20 bucks and worth every cent! For years, dealt with ever changing work and home situation and schedules, irregular diet, little to no exercise, barely sleeping, living off coffee- and infertility. Chronic stress is insidious. Since taking this I've been able to sleep through the night, no more anxiety that causes me to cry unnecessarily, and able to cultivate some self discipline.. not the kind that comes from running yourself ragged but the fulfilling kind. Getting marriage together and hoping to be blessed with children❤ If you are struggling, this can really be so supportive.

I've been adding ashwagandha to my morning smoothies for maybe a year now. But also been exercising more, my stress levels seem to have dropped. One a side note, I recently started interment fasting, overnight, and doing my first workout of the day in the mornings before breakfast. With all your great knowledge and hard work that goes into doing what you know and to help people that really want the help is much respected and appreciated by me and others! Thank you Dr. Berg!!!
I couldn't agree more with everything said, and what the FDA approves i wouldn't trust. I bought some Ashwagandha a few months ago. I reacted badly to Anaesthetic years ago, developed physcial and mental health issues, literally damaged my body, still is and years later still finding a way to recover as the results has left me with ME/CFS but only discovered a couple of years ago what caused it. and i discovered it because of what happened over the last 3 years and certain interventions i stayed away from but saw the affects to others. It finally clicked. Ashwagandha is helping my low mood and blood sugar levels.
I stopped taking Ashwagandha after I read that it could cause issues with the liver. Considering that I was having liver problems, I opted to instead try other adaptogens. I don't take my adaptogens before work because it makes me too mellow and more importantly, it makes time go by too slowly. Taking it after work has been agreeable for me.
I’m taking Ashwagandha for the fact that it not only reduces stress (which I have a high level of) but it also lowers blood pressure. That is my goal, to lower both of those and live healthier.
My wife is experiencing some depression/stress 3 months after we had our baby. I didn’t want her to take medication right away so found Ashwagandha online. To our surprise it really worked from the next day she took it even with just half of the suggested dosage printed on the bottle. Better mood, better sleep. Magical.
As a supplement manufacturer, our only piece of advice around Ashwagandha is that if you already have low cortisol levels it may not be for you. It can really help people that have to work or live with a lot of constant pressure and are feeling the burn from it. We generally recommend 5 days on, 2 days off and every 6 weeks take a week off. If you experience any of the 'emotionless' side effects from it then lower the dosage. If it still continues after that then stop taking it.
Ashwagandha is a wonder drug. It truly is a gift from God. I take it every single day and I will until the day I die. Ashwagandha is great. Ingest as much as possible m
I appreciate you uploading this educative video. I’m been taking Ashwandha for about three weeks now. As a person with GA due to ADHD (without hyperactivity), ASD (most likely “Asperger”), and a single mother and woman of color in almost mid 40s who exercises moderately to mitigate fibromyalgia, I take this high dosage in the AM. I started to take it 3 weeks ago. So far it’s working great with stress. Thank you for reading my long story 😅 ❤❤
I've been taking this for I think, 6/7 months now, I can't say enough good things about this. Stopped my anxiety meds and IBS is so much better. Has greatly improved my energy and mental clarity.
I also take an Anxiety medication. If I may ask, did you wean yourself off of the medication before you took Ashwagandha? I don’t know what to do. Thank you
Sir I was only taking 250 gm of ashwagandha, I did feel uneasy, yesterday only I watched your video, and I changed the dose from 300-325 between, immediately I could see the difference, I was very extremely relaxed, and Usually I don't sleep on the afternoon and does endless social media mindless scrolling of TH-cam shorts/insta reels, and I slept without any effort. I am 24 years old; I am not going to try 600g as in around 300+ I could really see the difference. and moreover, because I don't do heavy workouts, This and Sheelajit are absolutely miracle medicines, they have made me healthy, strong and 10 years younger.
I’ve used ashwagandha for years and it’s helped me out of times of chronic anxiety and stress. But I’ve found too high of a dose was causing migraines for me. So I’d say be careful with dosing, but no question it is effective. Quite similar to lemon balm (garden grown in tea)
It's been used for thousands of years in AYURVEDA in INDIA from where its benefits come in knowledge and let me tell you that ayurvedic medicines have minimal or no side effects if used in a proper way.
I took it for stress and my sleep really improved. But a big downside ( the only downside for me) was low mood. It really made me feel flat in the day and I was taking it just at night. I had to stop after a week. Once I did, my sleep took a while to regulate but I definitely didn't feel depressed. I think we all have different responses to things and for me, Ashwaganda was a success for sleep and reducing stress but bad for feeling really quite depressed aswell.
I tried it once and will never ever try it again. I had a really scary response where my whole body just went numb from my feet and up and I was really close to passing out. Wife called the ambulance but by the time it arrived I had started to recover.
Ashwaganda is the BEST!!!! I have been using it for months now and see a huge difference in stress levels! In fact, I can tell if I forget to take it (I split the dose-morning/night). This is one herb I refuse to be without!
Just to add.... Even before the FDA, AMA, Medical science, etc etc.... In our country INDIA.... Ashwagandha has been the one of the natural medicines being used for not just stress but for a lot of other things. And it's not me saying this. It's our VEDAS and ancestral writings done 100s of years ago....
I love ashwaganda lemon balm chamomile with St. John’s wort and warm baths with lavender oil in it and I’d rather take melatonin then trazadone every night
I was suffering from anxiety and stress several years ago after a major life event. A friend recommended Ashwagandha and it helped me to get off of anxiety meds. I still take it daily, and no longer experience chronic anxiety or stress. I also incorporated other remedies like therapy, yoga, and meditation so I can't give all the credit to Ashwagandga, but it is certainly an important tool in my arsensal.
I've been taking it every day for the past month and its geniuenly changed my life. I got to a point where I was so stressed that I could not function properly in my every day life; on edge, digestive issues, lack of sleep etc. I can now wake up in the morning without my mind on over drive and my body doesn't feel like its working against me. Also really good for relieving symptoms during a woman's monthly cycle:) I seriously could not recommend it enough, feeling like a new person!
im no expert whatsoever and this is just my two cents from what I've generally seen, but i would recommend underdosing so your body does not become dependent. you could already be doing this but I just thought I would mention. much love and glad you're feeling better! :)

What time of day did you take ashwagandha if you don't mind me asking? :)
Or you could consume it with milk(you can add some sugar or honey too)
Now if the form you are taking is an extract like ksm 66 (which i would prefer more) it doesn't matter you can just consume it at your convenience...but i would still take it with a meal.

I've tried the powder first and switched to Unived ksm 66 ashwagandha extract. I don't know if its available at your place. Just get one from any reputable brand.
I've also have to mention i take vit d3 1000iu in morning with breakfast and magnesium glycinate 650 or 1300mg after my dinner and still continue taking these two. I've stopped taking ashwagandha for now.
@@thetimewhack Thanks so much for that detail. I'll make sure to have some fat at the same time....haha just ran and got some.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Forgive yourself
@@neelafung8787 thanks for your kind words.

I have been taking Ashwahganda for over three months or so daily and I feel as if it helps me alot

The first brand I thought maybe was old/expired and I tried a different brand and had the same reaction. I just believe I’m allergic to it. I also read that a few people had the same reaction.
This is why I am so cautious with these things. I’m glad you feel better now 😊 I took fish oil once and it was a DIZASTER
You are! My cousin spent thousands to figure out is was the Ashwagana!
I got it maybe a week ago and it immediately reduced my stress. I was very stressed out about so many thing in my life. Mine is in liquid form so I add few drops in half a cup water.
Would have liked to see you talk about seratonine syndrome in relation to Ashwaganda. There are ALOT of stories popping up about this lately. One should be especially careful using alongside any SSRI and/or using alongside Methylene Blue which you've also talked about the benefits of. Seems you've glossed over some contraindications here.
