i agree a bit on that, but also i never though i would enough hdr at all 2 years ago.
more brightness is better on an hdr monitor.
we also needs ways to adjust the brightness quick, i used to do that on my lcd's depending on the light condition/time of day.
the worst thign that can happen is a oled with great hdr that locked out the brightness settings when enabling hdr.....
full screen brightness is the weakest point now, but also that is where i do not want any increase if it last for more than a second.

Saying that the HDR for the current gen OLED monitors is crazy. The OLED monitors today are absoutely amazing and borderline felt like I was moving to next gen with how CLEAR the image is and practically non existent the motion blur is. I think most OLEDS are fine regardless of the generation it was released just as long as you take the necessary precautions to help prevent burn in on your monitor. Yes monitor technology is always going to get better in the future. But as a consumer you must first value your money before thinking of what OLED monitor you wanna choose. I got lucky to find an LG OLED monitor from micro center that was an Open box for about $460 which to me is well worth the price for a very premium Computer monitor instead of spending $800+ for a brand new monitor.

I have the Gigabyte FO32U2P and I'm extremely happy with it. It's reportedly slightly brighter than the ASUS, Dell and MSI equivalent QD-OLED panels and it has the DP 2.1 and mini DP 2.1 inputs. So more future proof ready for GPU's that don't need to use DSC. I normally play games in a light controlled room in the evening so the raised blacks in daylight don't bother me at all. Very happy so far and definitely recommend the FO32U2P.

Also there shall be demand for 1080p OLED monitors as well targeting budget and esports pros, need WUXGA or DCI 2K (2048x1080) rated at 600Hz with VRR and LTPO layer as well as tandem OLED stacking for better power efficiency and higher sustained full screen brightness in both SDR and HDR, like going 600-1000 nits full screen, and longer lifespan with sub millisecond pixel dimming control. Maybe for higher resolutions, like why not adopt DCI 4K cinematic resolution (4096x2160) at 120Hz with HDMI 2.1 FRL and DP2.1, as well as some 4:3 aspect ratio screens such as QXGA (2048x1536) for gamers who create and creators who game?

The thing is, for gaming almost every OLED is great.
But overall for a mix of productivity, so you need high brightness, because most productivity rooms aren't dark as the night but rather very bright, you need 100% color accuracy on digital and print color spaces and depending on the productivity you still need high HDR or high refresh rate.
Also 5k or 6k options would be great to see.
But like you said, I am already waiting a couple of years for that and the display industry seems to move like snails.
I can rather choose very expensive MINI-LEDs with blooming or OLED with very bad brightness and unusable in a regular work environment.
Always missing the reviews for OLEDs that serve both needs, entertainment and productivity and when you work in productivity you actually often produce content for entertainment, so I never understand why people divide this in two categories of tests.

I really think the manufacturers of these monitors are just trying to cover their own butts with respect to burn in. They are not nerfed quite as bad on tv's because users have FAR different viewing patterns on a tv vs a computer monitor. Think they all know burn in is still a very substantial issue that hasn't been completely "solved".

looking at current OLED tests, you'd get burn-in within a couple months if you use any OLED monitor as a normal monitor. Personally, I'm considering getting LG UltraGear 27GR83Q-B, as it seems to be one of the best value for the money monitros right now, and won't have the issue of burn-in, thanks to being an IPS monitor. Rtings 2.0 test results for it seem pretty promising as well. I also only have space for 1 monitor, so going for something that will 100% get burn-in from daily use is not a worthwhile spending.

@@Forsigh you're right about that. I'm personally going from a sub $200 1080p monitor. Though basically my main reasoning for not going 4k is that current GPUs can't handle sufficient fps at 4k to make full use of 4k@240hz monitors, so buying one would mean not being able to fully utilize it until a couple GPU generations later. @@Forsigh Nice! I'm personally using a GTX 980, so when I'm finally upgrading, it's going to have to be a full rig upgrade :p
Also, I'm not saying you are only going to use it for a year, I'm more referring to the fact that it takes like 3 years between each GPU generation, and modern AAA games and whatnot require far more GPU power than we currently have access to, and will have access to for the next couple generations. Personally, I'll be playing all sorts of games that could be ran on my current setup, but also things like Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 at max settings, so I'd be directly faced with the limits of current and next-gen GPU power in those scenarios, hence why I'm considering the best 1440p 27" IPS display currently available. For true future-proofing, the displays you want to consider are those with DP2.1, like Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P.

Not sure if you already pulleld the trigger but honestly if fear of burn in is holding you back from OLED, don't let that stop you, it really isn't as big as deal as it once was for the early adopters - Yes the lifespan is finite on these things - as it is on most tech. But we're talking thousands, if not 10s of thousands of hours here. The improvement in quality alone feels worth it and will completely change your gaming experience, even more than a new GPU in my opinion. As long as you're mindful of it and vary your content rather than static screen max brightness 9 hours a day you should be fine.
Whats your current monitor? I literally use my oled exclusive for gaming and some light streaming use, always use dark mode anyway too. I then have an IPS display for Productivity - people just need to be sensible when it comes to OLED, I believe Monitors unboxed deliberatelly burnt in his one blasting max brightness for 16 hours a day with no screen protection llike it will happen in extreme cases - some people hate the idea of having to be sensible with their screen use - for me its not an issue, worth it for the OLED upgrade and visuals and it encourages me to track my screentime for my own eyes health :)

@@TheBeerHunter7 bro thanks for your thoughts and opinion. So i eventually ordered lg 32gr93u-b , its ips but top ips as to monitor unboxed data... hasn't arrived yet , so can't say anything yet. I was thinking about oled but eventually picked that one cause i will use the monitor 80% for productivity(as external monitor for my macbook) and 20% for gaming and movies. Was also considering innocn 32m2v which is miniled monitor with true 10bit matrix and 1000 local dimming zones, but that was way to expensive to buy in my region.... i am not in USA sadly, and in my country its not easy to buy electronics cheap.... though if i was in US i would probably go for oled cause it has warranty etc etc.... nevertheless i hope i would like lg monitor in comparison the trash i have now(my 22 inch tn monitor from 2009😁😁)

I don’t get this obsession with brightness. I have my msi 32 at 65 brightness and it’s fine. Maybe the bigger display gives the impression of brighter display. I’d like the qd with lg glossy coating.

Thank you for your informative videos! Could you advise me on a few 32 inch monitors that you think I should consider for work productivity. I’m not a gamer and just need one for work related tasks such as google workspace and occasional TH-cam videos. I’d like curved. Thank you!!

Have the aw3225qf 4k 32inch, beautiful display. Really enjoy it, only gripes are; keeping the bastard clean.. absolute magnet for random marks. And having to pixel refresh every 4 hours! But really nice display, cant go back now

    Quantum Dot Cuckery:
You’ve waited for years, and you are paying too much for an OLED monitor.
*8 months later, the next gen OLED shits on your monitor, and the one you own is now $500 used, down from the $1,100 you paid*
