    I was there when 6000 people in system was hit. Jackdaw pilot. We had before 5 h of op cleaning the way in Fountain and Cloud Ring. i saw 10000's of hours of mining, industry and excel sheets flying near me. It as fantastic. I was angry on CCP that night but it's ok. No other game can give any of us a reason or mean to gather 6000 players in one place. It was the battle of big balls. Too big to fail any of us. North and South will be immposible to get as long as players will still play. The day North or South will no longer be as is it to day, eve will be soon dead. For real this time.

      A good one, but what really helps in these big fights is the CPU. Also speeding the record make it look way smoother than it was

      on average how much did you have to speed it up by? officially tidi was 10% but I'm guessing it was like 2?

      probably far less. A lot of the estimates that I heard was under 1%, apparently calculated thanks to the time it took for the Keepstar to lose 1% HP. CCP only shows up to 10% on the tooltip, but yeah, if 10% isn't enough for the server to cope, it goes into a hidden super TIDI that goes WAY lower. And even with that, the node was running at 100% constantly since the very start of things and was having to skip many client calls (as you can see in the vid) to not just melt itself or crash.
      That is what a few thousand supers/carriers (and their thousands of fighters) with a few titans and several thousand subcaps will do to even a reinforced node.
      I'll actually have to give props to the CCP guys for the node not crashing and the servers not melting.

      But anyway, what is your CPU? I have been there to try to watch it. And nothing just replied to my commands, the ship locations did not change at all. CPU load was like 40% or so... Maybe there are some settings that need to be tuned?
      I have i7 (4790K). Should be far enough for calculating it... GTX 980 also should not be a bottleneck.

    Why don’t eve alliances higher ups, council members and game devs make some agreement to limit the maximal number of players participating in one battle? It would make things much better. Even in our world where there is no risk of overloading the server there are some limitations in times of war..

      in a Game where it is perfectly fine to scam/spy/steal .. wont work in eve, there are no Gentlemans Agreements, you play to win and use whatever is possible to do so, brute force is the way this things work couse everyone and his mother has multiple supers/titans so they use them
      its just so easy to make tons of money in delve nobody cares about loosing supers/titans anymore

      Tintifax well, you know, eve is not that different from the real world. And there are also innumerable ways to steal/scam/spy in our world. Especially on high levels of government. But we still have rules for war that prevent our “servers” from being ruined. And such rules still can be implemented in eve. Not to prevent corps/players from losing their ships/stations/etc. but to prevent the servers from shutting down because of overloading. Changing style of war between those with power and money in a way that would make their battles more fun (not so damned laggy and awkward) is not that hard as long as someone with said power and money decides to do something in that direction.

    This tells me something important. Carriers need to be removed from the core of these fleets. They're slow to apply, obscenely slow to reload and don't seem to be providing the sustained damage a keepstar needs. I'd say they need to be replaced by more dreads and when possible titans but that'll probably lead to more losses due to less things to soak damage.
    I for one like the idea of messier battles.

      When a dread sieged, he can't get remote reps or cap, even if you fit full tanked ones (assuming you'll shoot cap only ships, so you can remove all the tracking shit), you'll still die in 2-3 voleys from the enemy fleet. With FAX support, only carriers, supers and titans can field. The problem at that fight was the goons "whatever ping with shoting their cap/super fleet" managed to get over 20k fighters on field (along with panfam carriers/supers). Hopefully, the next fight where both goons and panfam will meet again, the node will resist better. At this point, even an improvement to 10% TiDi, with all the stuff that happened last time will still make the fight "workable".

      Not sure what you are talking about. It has pvp. You can gate camp or roam low sec and fight ships 1 on 1. In this 6000 player battle (which I took part in) there's more going on then you think. We protected the Keepstar on the 23rd after 5 hours of fighting, a bunch of backstabbing from both sides (we ambushed 4 enemy carriers by telling them to jump on our infiltrated spy) and a lot of time dilation. It was a great battle. And no, it isn't 6000 players doing nothing. Its 6000 players building history.

      Star citizen will never have a battle THIS scale. Simply because there's no server can handle this kind of battle in a game like Star Citizen. It's just impossible. Except when we have quantum computer by the time it releases.

      Lê Toàn star citizen doesn’t need to be at this scale. A battle with 200 ships would be way more entertaining than this. Hell 20 ships vs 20 ships would be better than than this

      I never joined in this scale of battle, I prefere 3 vs 3 battles, or 20 vs 20 at best. beeing warped by an FC, aligning and pressing 1 isn't really entertaining! Something else for the FCs I guess.

      yeah but the timer on the keepstar doesn't slow down in tidi so the defensive side is always gonna come on top if the tidi is horrible enough.

      I had no footage of the nyxes who jumped on the spy cyno, and nobody on any side was really proud of such a move so I didn't mention it
      About the tidi yeah sure everyone had troubles, but it still advantages the defenders to a ridiculous point

      Thanks for watching. I was asked if some were untethered, you can see in the beginning that I can't lock titans because they were not agressed. I stopped locking new ones when it became obvious that the keepstar wasn't going to fall and therefore no further escalation would happen

    This is the reason i could never get into this game as fucking cool as the politics and the game is itself the combat system is just so god damn boring its unreal.
    Im watching a 6k player pvp video unheard of in any other game and im bored, that says allot.

      The time dilation and heavy lag + the strategy used in these battles can't make it fun to play unfortunately, but it's always a great time on comms.
      However having done a lot of small fleets/gangs in this game, I must say you are wrong concerning these, they are probably the most risk averse and stressful/fun times I had in video games.

      If Darkfall didn't have so many damn flaws its much more appealing if you want a risk for reward stressful fun time. Plus the combat is Fps making it extremely fun.

    To bad Horde was intentionally trying to kill the node by undocking and redocking their fighters...sad that this is the only way they know how to fight but then again it is Horde after all!

      Beside you cant really compare crashing a node on purpose vs DD enemy roam/bomber fleets that infest your space...Boson an enemy fleet is just the easiest way to deal with pesky intruders so we can go back to ratting and get richer! XD

      That's literally the goons logic, if you wanted to comment on a video, at least try not to go all mango on being goon and shit. What's the difference between Boson an enemy fleet just to deal with pesky intruders and get high numbers on a keepstar just to make those pesky intruders go away? And the node didn't crashed.

      Never said it crashed did i ? ´But using a tactic that involves trying to actively crashing the node to avoid a fight is just pathetic BUt thats just my opinion....Also last time i checked putting a titan on a gate to boson 40 people doesnt crash a node it just pisses of the people that got bosoned and all they can do at that point is yell " FUCKING GOONS " in local!...Me personally id rather put 50 SBing battleships on the gate with a bubble more fun that way!

      The combat is actually nice, but these huge huge battle are a pain cause of the lag that's all :)
