Here’s a fun fact I found the other day: Ninja’s wearing all black was completely romanticised. They normally dressed like regular civilians because they would ironically stick out like a sore thumb if they left the house wearing all black. The actual origin of the black uniform was from kabuki plays. Essentially stagehands would wear all black so that they would blend into the background. During a performance, if an actor got assassinated, then it would be by a stagehand supposedly “popping out of nowhere” and then disappearing, which eventually lead to the romanticised legends.
