I audibly laughed when I was playing the game and met the well researcher woman thinking, “oh no, Jirrard is going to have to do this” Such a massive game, you’ve got this Mr. Completionist man

XD Oh god, this game is gonna be a NIGHTMARE and a half to complete. Wells, caves, 3 different maps, and a ton of armors to find in all three maps? Jirard is gonna have a stroke. Like, this might actually be almost as bad as completing Hyrule warriors (But a lot more fun since this game rewards creativity).

Let’s not forget koroks, the guy holding up the sign, security corps, the underground statues, schematics, all mini bosses get a completed checked off when you fight them, yiga hide outs, treasure maps, caves, wells, sage’s wills…. Shrines and their attached light roots, side adventures and the newspaper adventures… am I missing anything because these are what I’ve found so far (forgot to mention potentially maxing all armors)

@@Hei_Darkfire Thankfully at least the amiibo armours are still obtainable via scanning amiibo. That said, old map chests may be tied to 100%. I doubt they are since BotW only made you upgrade irreplaceable armour. But I can't know until I've closed in on all the massive 100% goals I still have left.

honestly in regards to weapon durability and the mechanic of "blacksmiths": I think there's no issue anymore, and no need for something like blacksmiths. Literally with the fuse ability, YOU'RE the blacksmith. Killing enemies grants the player with the base weapon, which could be of any type, as well as their horn, and other body parts, which then the player can use to make whatever weapon they desire. Want some weapon for mining? Just add a rock to it, or a ball with spikes, or a bulky horn. Want some weapon with range? Add two weapons together. Want a one handed weapon for combat? Add a horn with high stats. Want a weapon for cutting trees? Add a sharp stone or an axe shaped horn. Want an elemental weapon? Killing elemental enemies grants the player with their elemental horns or materials that can be add to base weapons.
I'm not afraid to break my weapons, because I get rewarded by whatever fight I'm in or already have horns and other materials from previous battles to just take the base weapons from the enemies I just killed to make wathever I need or want. Also, if anyone likes being creative, creating killing/support machines or drones for combat is also an option, so even in a hypothetical case if a player runs out of weapons being creative is still an option for combat.
    GAMEPLAY SPOILER
The game even provides pre-set blueprints for constructions, among them combat oriented constructions that as I said, can be an option in battle in case anyone wishes to make it easier, has run out of weapons, likes fighting like that, etc... I'd say the durability system is now perfectly doing its original intended purposes perfectly, which is making combats more thrilling, encouraging the player to explore for new weapons, and promoting the player to try out different types of weapons (and now combinations as well).

Hi! I just wanted to mention what you said at 11:15 ish of the video, there is a way to repair the durability of your weapons! The game just does not make it clear to the player at all, I don't even believe there is an NPC that mentions it. I learned it by watching some random youtube video about the game, I do not think this is something any casual player would honestly find out easily.
If you take whatever weapon you would like to repair and bring it to a rock octorok, theyre found mostly in the eldin region, if you drop it on the ground, they will suck the weapon up when doing their attack and give an extra bonus to whatever weapon you drop, IN ADDITION to fully restoring the weapons durability. (bows and shields also work doing this!).

A lot of them, especially larger enemies, will throw things at Link, and you can use recall to send them right back and damage the enemy. It's very satisfying to send a boulder or explosive barrel right back to the guy who threw it at you in the first place.

11:30 Heres the thing about the weapons breaking in Tears and why I dont mind it. In BOTW, you'd hold onto stuff because you didnt know when your next good weapon would come and if you used it then didnt have it for something challenging, that felt bad. For this game, its not really like that because any random stick or sword you pick up can be as good or poor as you need so long as you are carrying around a bag of monster parts. I know that if I need a good weapon, then I can slap on a black lizard horn or whatever from earlier onto something before the encounter, and I know that going out of my way to hunt high grade or difficult monsters WILL give me good rewards since it gives guaranteed fusion parts to at the least replace what you used up in the process, if not upgrade them.

I've had a similar experience in that I've just crested the 110 hour mark and while I've done so much exploring and been checking off things here and there, in the grand scope of the entire game, it feels like I've barely done anything. I've done maybe 50-ish shrines, gotten a little less than 100 Koroks, I've gotten all but one of the surface towers unlocked, only a handful of Lightroots underground all scattered around, I've done only the Wind Temple (which was a goddamn delight), stuck my head into I don't know how many caves, and completed a bunch of side quests and activities. And I know I've just barely scratched the surface of what Tears has to offer in its entirety. I've immensely enjoyed every minute I've put into this game so far, I'm so excited to see everything else that lies ahead of me, and I see myself easily approaching 500 hours at the end of my first playthrough. At this point, I'm pretty confident that Tears of the Kingdom is easily going to take the crown as my new favorite game of all time.

I'm like 20 hours in (work's been super busy since right before it came out) and basically just ran off in a direction as soon as I unlocked the paragliding and ability to hit the Sky towers. Honestly, I've been kinda disappointed so far. I love the sky and the depths look awesome, but the lack of Guardians is strikingly apparent. Some places that used to be risky to run through early on are just empty or near empty fields now. The sky islands are more fun trying to find your way between them all. But the armors I've found have only been repeats so far and despite keeping my old horses from BotW, which is a nice bonus for completing that game, I'm exploring caves and finding the climbing gear, again. The references to the events of BotW just feel inconsistent and maybe lacking. Like the Purah Pad is a glorified camera downgrade from the Shieka Slate that...could already take pictures. There's no remnants of the old shrines and the new ones that are literally just rocks are already called shrines by the natives as soon as you land without and indicator as to what they actually are. It's like the game world just decided they're rebooting ideas from BotW just cause and having the people of the world know it also just cause. It's the type of writing that really breaks my immersion in a sequel.
I'm also pretty disappointed with the "Collect Korok seeds again!" deal, "do over 100 shrines again" deal, etc etc. Yeah, I get they wanted to do the shrine idea again, but these ideas don't feel refined, it just feels like they made BotW again and just added more to it. For some people, I guess that's great. For me, I'm enjoying a lot of it, but also feeling kinda disappointed as I go through it. Other than optimization to get the game to actually run on the Switch and making the goop ability, I'm not seeing where all the dev time went. It feels like they were just obsessed with adding more and taking out anything that could too directly relate to the original game. Yet they made constructs that are basically just redskins of small guardians.
I will say, I do appreciate the added enemy variety, I just find the lack of guardian technology dumb, the lack of guardians in general disappointing, I keep my horses but not my armor which is for some reason hidden away in new locations unrelated to the originals, and a lot of quests feel recycled a bit, like the treasure hunters who again think you're stealing the loot from under them.
I still feel like the story is promising, the lore, world (literally), interactions, and rewards feel like retreading old steps without really addressing the problems from the original game. Like, this game would be so much cooler if the Purah pad was an upgraded Shieka slate instead of a downgrade and you could mix some of the old mechanics with the new ones. Like stasis + rewind would be a crazy combo, and I just plain miss the old bombs. Though I get wanting to make them a limited resource again. I just feel like BotW let you play a lot more with the physics, whereas TotK kinda has more powerful abilities, but they're more limited in how they interact with the physics, thus far for me.
Tl;Dr: TotK added a lot, but doesn't feel like it fixed that much for me thus far, and it introduced some of it's own problems that make it a bit of a disappointment for me so far.

It made for a fun challenge in some cases, trying to beat a stage that would have been infinitely easier with a paraglider, but ultimately I had to retrace my steps and find out that yes there is a place I was supposed to go to first before heading off in a random direction

My main mission once I got out of the great sky island was to find all the towers and unlock the whole main level map. Then I beat a temple and started trying to unlock the entire depths map. I beat another temple and found all the geoglyphs (this story is pretty wild so far) during that time, too. Then I beat all the temples. Now I'm finally trying to beat the shrines and reconnect separated korok friends, etc. I'm probably 300 hours in and just figured out how to beat the hands and whatever that version of Ganon is called instead of just running for my life, transporting away, or dying.

All in all, the 3-layer world, the new powers, the new enemies, the new mechanisms and puzzles... I have multiple times already felt like I was going on a nice bite-sized adventure in the middle of the big adventure. Very satisfying and a great sequel to BotW.

Recall has more applications than one might think, its super good for cheesing a number of shrine puzzles as well as bringing back a vehicle that's flying away from you, you can also use it on projectiles that enemies hurl at you to return it to sender... and there's likely more uses than that.

I'm sure Jirard has learned this by now, but for anyone curious the koroks are only spread between the surface and sky, and there's technically still only 900. 100 of them give you two korok seeds, so you'll end up with 1000 but there are only 900 to find.

This is the only game where i feel really disappointed if i spoil something for myself. Last night i finished a shrine and i know i did it wrong, so i looked up the right way and it sort of ruined a whole new mechanic i should have figured out on my own. Still upset i looked it up, every mechanic is game changing

Love this style of video, I think it works perfectly for a game we all know you're working to complete. I can see it being used moving forward to great effect.
