At first I didn't understand why she wouldn't let me, but I do now! She saved me from more than likely being mistreated like these poor women! I hope that no permanent damage has been done in more ways than one!

I have never bought anything from this company and always seen Victoria Secret as one of the worst brands. I was aware of their work practices and how they treat their employees in other countries. Nonetheless, I am against branding all together and only look at quality and necessity of the product. Branding is one of the most toxic "invention" of our century and brings only higher and higher input to falsifying of who we truly are and how we want to be perceived, which in the end builds up only more egoistic society than actually helping people to rise their self esteem in a healthy way.

    1. Most companies care more for bigger sizes.
    2. Most clothing business salvage the inventory of shelves and sell it for no money instead of donating it . Because when they salvage the product they get credit from the manufacturer and then they sell it for something or get tax credit that’s why they never donate or give it all away -$$$$$$ sad but true

  • @olciac1989

The guy called Razek was right about the VS fashion show being portrayed as a dream, and a dream cannot look any less of a dream, so everything was supposed to be perfect: perfect models with perfect skin, beautiful lingerie and costumes plus admired by many music performances of world class stars like Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift - only to name a few. Being a VS model was a dream of many models and aspiring models in fashion industry - not because ANYONE could get there, but because ONLY A FEW chosen ones could achieve that, it was a really high stake and strict requirements for the girls. I miss those shows, they were like fairy tales, with each one depicting a different theme.
About the alleged blast of cultural differences and using the clothing associated with some particular parts of the world or race - I am sure it was not anyone's intention to belittle any culture. People need to understand that it was a fashion show - models were wearing what they were being told to wear. If the fashion show directors believed that the Asian-looking outfit was going to look better on a blonde European-looking model, they chose one of the blonde models to present it. Or maybe even they did it on purpose to show that they respect all the cultures and portray them with equality on different models (Asian, White, Black).
And the blast for using the cotton being collected in Africa by kids - that is the peak of hypocrisy! Don't average people know that literally ALL big companies take their fabrics, and materials from the cheapest available sources? And that in MANY parts of the world working children are still unfortunately a "norm"? Do you really think that H&M, Zara, Primark, Mango or other brands CARE and check where their fabrics are supposed to come from? And also do you really think that it was only Victoria's Secret brand that was taking the cotton from this particular cotton field to produce their lingerie out of it? I highly doubt it.
With all this fight for equality, inclusiveness and tolerance literally everywhere, people will slowly lose everything that was/is pretty, exclusive, luxurious, dreamy and iconical.

Where are the first famous Victoria's Secret models at on this topic? Did they appreciate the life and opportunities that the sacrifices provided? Or just weren't asked? Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, etc...? Did these same issues not go own then? What about high fashion runway? Was it different? What role did model Agents play in this, I assume these gals had agents? There is much more I would like to know, just wandering why only this company...this group of models...were spotlighted in this video, Grunge? I feel sure that many more than V.S. has had these issues, and why you didn't mention if so or not so. By asking this, I am not defending any actions that were in the wrong, by any people in the wrong. In fact, I feel that to really want and to get changes, that you must act not just in bad times, then forget them in the good times, but when the offenses begin, make a stand, there is always more strength in numbers, right? The sexism in the model/fashion/beauty industry is not a surprise, nor the strict, unrealistic standards of image, because these girls are known by the world as not your ordinary pretty faces, but put up on a level of almost superhero status by donning those wings. But that doesn't make it okay. Not one bit. I guess it is just situation that is hard for me to work out in my mind. I know that if someone pulled that kind of crap on me, at my job, I would have walked away immediately from that job and ran my big mouth all the way to a damn good lawyer to kick some butt and expose this stuff, not wait 10 to 15 years later and then approach the media about all the really bad history they had. Of course. I am not paid enough to stay in an offensive place of work, so that would not be a hard decision. And is it for real that people are playing dumb that the shops were being used in V.S. clothing production? Why the hell do you think these companies even moved their manufacturers our of our nation to begin with? Better insurance benefits? Americans need to taken some responsibility here.

We women knew we didn't look like VS models but we liked feeling and looking like one for our man. I loved their shows and the angels. All that woke bs ya'll spat is stupid and ya'll ruined what was so great about Victoria Secret. Now the underwear and the models are ugly nobody wants to buy it. You beautifully explained it, this is the harsh truth! Not that harsh though, glamour and sex appeal run the world, it is what it is. Also I find these campaigns offensive towards plus size girls because they seem to imply they are unattractive and they use labels such as "comfort" or "for the average women" isn't it a miserable message to send? Doesn't it imply the woman in that campaign has flaws because she's not thin so the underlying message is "she's not as attractive as skinny models but I'll show her to you ugly people so you can relate"? I bet even plus size girls prefer to identify with the skinny models, it's about a message, a fantasy you want to live and recreate, not about pointing the finger on how your body is so different and out of the norm, to me that's the opposite of body positivity, body positivity is about being confident with your own body not your body advertised as different and average, but that's just my opinion. I remember Adriana Lima said in 2003 at the very sexy book launch "It's about being confident with yourself, being confident with what you have" and even though we are talking about an extraordinary beauty who can easily be confident she nailed the description of body positivity to me, being confident with what you have and I would say never stop taking care of your body and improving yourself! Sweeping away the angels is not the solution, that was the worst decision ever.

Re: the working conditions in the 3rd world countries. Are we SURE VS had control over that? Oh, they shouldn't use that kind of labor? Have you checked how many other companies use that kind of labor?
Re: what models do to keep their weight down. "Are forced to do". Yes, there is a difficult standard to keep, but did anyone tell them they must remain dehydrated or use cocaine? Some people are naturally thin, they're born with less adipose cells. I've no doubt there is a way for SOME people to stay very thin, without abusing their bodies. Now, if they can't do it without abusing their bodies, that is their problem.
Re: sexual harassment by the male executives. No excuse for that, obviously. The guilty ones should be criminally prosecuted and publicly shamed. But the company should have kept their beautiful shows. It's the end of an era where beauty was beautiful, and beautiful was enviable. Now, anythign goes.

Victoria Secrets knockoffs are called Victoria Lies. At least that's what I'd call it.

A native black African man wearing a dinner suit could be considered cultural appropriation then? They should be wearing cultural dress? You cannot have it both ways.

I wanna see a fantasy, not THE MESSAGE! I see normal and obese wo.en everywhere, and I don't like the iclusive shows.
Show me one big company that hasn't blood on their hands. People stuff their mouths with unhealthy junk from Nastlé but that doesn't bother them.
And most fashion is produced under horrible circumstances.
