    2 years ago I used to be the biggest procrastinator ever, sure my grades were considered good by my teachers and parents, but I weren’t happy with them. I eventually got a good sleep schedule, going to bed around 9:40 pm and waking up at 5 am. This truly changed everything, my grades where better, I didn’t procrastinate as badly, I wasn’t as tired, I was more social, and the day felt like it went by faster. It wasn’t just me noticing these changes either, my teacher were as well, two even emailed my parents saying how proud they were of my growth. Having a good sleep schedule and actually caring about school is truly one of the most important things in both school and your own mental and physical health!

      wow! This is exactly how I was. Quarantine made me realize I was a lazy good student so I decided to change that and not only are my grades better, my school life is better. For example, I feel like I was better at building relationships with classmates and teachers and getting involved.

      Yeah...I can't sleep this early because I study 12 hours a day so.... but I try to wake up as late as possible because I don't need much time to get ready in the morning :)

    all my college tips that no one asked for:
    1. ratemyprofessors
    2. avoid 8ams. 9ams are so much easier. maybe this is n/a to you. 8ams in summer are weirdly easier.
    3. spring is much harder than fall. maybe take fewer hours in spring.
    4. systematize socialization by rushing, joining clubs, or hanging w/ friends committed to hanging out regularly.
    5. avoid cooking. get a meal plan or whatever to make getting food as energy-less & time-less as possible.
    6. get the top of the line calculator that integrates & derives for you.
    7. anki, quizlet, whatever tools are relevant & up to date.
    8. sit front row in lectures.
    9. dress well. if the vibe at your school is lazy, dress lazy, i just mean the cutest version ya kno

      @@Human111....... i do really recommend it to you, i've been sitting at the front-center of my class and i improved a lot. you can totally focus on your professor since you don't get to watch people doing different things at the back, you can hear them well / see the slides or board. Also they will naturally look at you (esp, indirectly putting a bit more focus on you while explaining) if you actually show interest in the class, if not interest, that at least you are paying attention to what they are saying, you rarely get distracted and i don't know it just puts me into the mood of paying attention and actually learning :]

      They’re most likely easier in the summer because sunrise is earlier assuming you’re not near the equator). When I get up for 8ams in the winter, it’s usually still dark.

      point 5 is bad advice - i'd recommend learning to cook few quick and cheap meals that meet your nutrition needs so you keep yourself healthy:)

    It’s taken me awhile to become a morning person but wow has it changed my life! I’m so much more productive and motivated now and I love it. I’ll definitely be trying the other tips too 😅

      Same, I'm much more productive on the weekends since starting a job which forced me to get up at 6am. When I was a student I would struggle to get up at 8am and blame it on me 'not being a morning person'. Changing my sleep patterns mean I procrastinate less in the mornings and evenings

    1) reflect - was it work habit, mindset, procrastination? all the things you're happy with: proud of? new technique? study schedule? study longer? Find your weaknesses and strengths and work on it.
    2) sleep - wake up and sleep at a specific time of the day, even on the weekends
    3) learning style - active instead of passive, don't simply copy from the lecture board or textbook, condense them instead.
    4) study schedule - check his old vid
    5) environment - do not study in your bedroom, instead consider the library, coffee shop or sit next to the window if you like studying under the sunlight
    6) phone - have an end time, don't scroll mindlessly, give yourself a time to stop. Your phone should be out of sight when studying
    7) meal prep - easy meal save time
    8) mindset - positive :) give credit, put in effort, find your goal to motivate you, love the thing you do and productivity will follow through

    unpopular opinion: for some people (like me) it is better to study home, cause they feel socially anxious and it does not help to be at the library/cafe/campus, where the only feeling you will get is the anxiety

      Yeah, I personally try to kill my anxiety in these places by, sitting the furthest away from ppl, for example in the library I go to, student my age often go to the last upper floor so i either go in another floor or If I have no choice take a place where I'm not able to see most people or not at all, listen to music to calm myself (it's not a bother to me since i concentrate with music) since music is my go for to calm myself. I bring something to keep me doing something even when I pause in my study like snack or idk small ball, paper, cuz I like doing something even if it's insignificant. Just try to not think about other people and concentrate on yourself, just try to forget them. It sounds easy to do but it's still hard for me sometimes, especially when I'm confronted to people my age or close my age, cause they make me feel insecure and I have the impression that they all judge me deep down. But honestly I hate people in general so yeah. But I decided that it was better for me to study in libraries so I took my courage, the first time were not easy, got a panic attack because there was too many people, then came back a few weeks after, stayed 1 hour, felt uncomfortable and left, and then I could come back more often and more longer, if I didn't feel like studying I would just read some books, manga there and try again or go back home. I wish you the courage and effort to be able to do it too if you want to go to libraries. Good luck! 🙏😉

    I got 95.2% overall in my grade 10… but here in India there is a whole new world when you come in grade 11, so trying to adapt to it… I have also opted for engineering course, so it is definitely a big goal … But this video also helps a lot! Thank you Nathan!!

    personal tips that helped:
    1. You don't have to be a morning person. just find what works for you.
    2. but! do a bit of morning stretches every day, it wakes you body up, it gives you energy and signal to start working. and have a bit of time without gadgets before going to bed. drink water. in general, take care of your health. grades wouldn't repair your damaged health.
    3. try your best to avoid cramming before the exam. review topics you've studied already after a couple of days, then a week and etc. anki has great intervals, so even if you don't want to use it(creating your own flashcards here is pretty damn hard to figure out) just create ones with only the name of the topic and use it as a 'what should i review today?'
    4. following the previous one: NOW is the time to try your best to figure out everything you want to use. any websites, apps, planners. of course you might switch to other things, but it's nice to know how you want to plan everything once the academic year starts.
    5. make it easier for yourself. use the notebook you want to use. find a comfy bag/backpack, pillow, mattress topper. clothes that fit and feel good. if needed, get a proper glasses. prepare your meals.
    6. don't forget about your friends and hobbies!

    Would also like to add that investing in quality supplies (pens, paper, highlighters, etc.) can also help! You do not want to be deep-focused in the middle of studying and suddenly realize that having little post-its will help you study better....except you don't have any on you! Having supplies you actually like will also get you excited to actually use them and take notes.

    Hi! I actually did quite a bit of research a few years back on learning styles to try and help my productivity and ended up learning that they're pretty much made up! Psychologically, most everyone, if not everyone learns best in a blended learning environment, being where you learn through verbal explanation and also watching someone else do it, or something similar. So don't spend too much time trying to put yourself in a single box and just learn how you retain information best, cause a lot of those "learning style" quizzes hinder you more than they help you.     Nathan you truly inspired me! Although I was top of my grade last year, I feel like I didn’t deserve it. I will change my sleep schedule, and hopefully that will keep me motivated. This year, my school gave me a schedule that I dislike very much. They are not willing to change it no matter what I say or do. I will work hard to transfer to a better school and prove them all wrong!

    I like the idea of all these tips but im a nursing student who is in class and clinicals for 40-52 hours a week, I work part time, I dont have time to get 8 hours of sleep or have a study spot because nothing is open. Just remeber its ok to not a be a traditional student, its ok to stay up late or sleep in late, its ok to be disorganized. The most important thing you can do is just keep working and challenging yourself. Ask good questions, practice everything you lean and stuff you havent learned yet (get people to talk you though it), and to prioritize your health and fun things!

    I wish I could find my motivation again, I am a senior, I don't like my major, but its been so long that I am over the thought of changing it, I just want to get this degree so my parents can get off my back. As soon as I have this diploma I am leaving academia for a while and pursuing my love for creative arts.     It would be SO HELPFUL.
    I have tried it for several times waking up early and it is ok to me, not difficult, but I can't concentrate at all.
    When I did my school leaving exam I tried to wake up at 6 and learn what I had to but I couldn't concentrate until 5pm
    I always start learning at 5pm because in that time I feel prepared to be productive but I really want to change it somehow....

    Would you recommend staying in a dorm for college? I really want to save my parents money because my house is only an hour commute away. But I am worried about missing out on the college experience, whatever that is

    I was the top student last year when I was an 11th grader and not gonna lie all I did was to view everyone as my opponent, I hate to admit it but yes... Good thing I overcome it now that I'm in Grade 12 but sheesh my grades are not the same, I feel so easy all the time, I'm not challenged at all, maybe that's why...🙃

      @@NathanWu oh, at the peak of the semester in February, federal universitys in my country were shut down cause the academic staff began a strike against the government. So for 6 months and counting school has been on hold.

    Hello, which of your videos do you recommend, since I am 17 years old and after a year I graduate I am going to go to university and study mathematics but I want to start doing it in a self-taught way regardless of my studies, I am a student from Bolivia and I define myself as a proactive since I know what to do but I do not apply almost anything because it seems that I am waiting for the material and time to start but in the end I feel that I am left with nothing and I go TH-cam channel by channel but I do not apply anything and the last one I saw was from one called justing sung but i was confused

    I am so scared. I start taking my core classes and mcat prep this year. I also have a full time job and a full course load. My schedule is stressful. I work from 4am to 2 pm and take classes in the afternoon. Most of my classes are science related. So they require memorization. As for sleep what sleep. I don't have time to sleep sometimes. I am trying to figure that out currently. I currently despite working and going to school have a 4.0. But I am really worried. I want to be more productive and use my time as best I can. Help 😵‍💫

      @@NathanWu I am trying. I had a burnout over the summer and had to seek a therapist. I really need good ways to be productive in a short amount of time. What I have been doing is getting all my text books early and creating all of my notes before classes began. I usually just add to my notes any information given during lecture or in slides that I don’t have. I input study time in my schedule. I am just 🥱 a lot. Hoping to find a solution soon. My job pays for school for me so I can’t quit.

    I love these tips that Mr. Wu ( I only said Mr. considering im still a highschooler and still trying to respect people. ) I always try to my phone on airplane mode it's saves you a lot and it's helpful. I always try to at least check my phone a certain time for one hour. I also want to romanticizing makes life more easier opens your eyes to alot of things you didn't think to acknowledge.

    Actually, 6.30 is pretty late in Sri Lanka, especially on school days. I'm waking up at 2.30 -3.30 to study but it has been quite chaotic since I'd go to bed late too, sometimes even after 1AM and I always find my alarm closed which I'm dead sure I turned on, meaning I've woken up and turned that off and went back to sleep and i can't even remember!! :') I wish I could wake up freely at 6.30 or so :')

    One thing to ask for study spot
    I am unable to go to library cause yk I am a teenager and the only library near me is in my school so I can't just go in any time......and I don't know any cafe suitable to study soo ....?
    What should I do ?

      Then do what works best for you and what is avaliable. If you have to study in your room then do not do it on your bed but, if you have one, on your desk. Kind of separate your bedroom into working area and your chillin area (you don't have to be super strict about it tho but good to follow it most of the time)
