*Watch the video before reading this.*
Hey Guys, I just wanted to clarify some points I made that I feel I didn’t make clear. Bits of the video were clearly changed and some information is outdated because I recorded this like 2 months ago. Why did I take so long, because I was depressed and lazy.
First things first, please do not harass anyone in the video. Don’t call anyone names, be polite when responding to them, and just use common sense. While some information is slightly outdated, I don’t think that info can be used in any way that’s malicious, and the rest of the video still holds weight. But if anyone gets shit on for any of that, I apologize.
Naoko update: so he actually updated his portfolio recently, and it includes the video he made for senz which is pretty funny.
Aeeji Edits update: So while Senz hasn’t been crediting his videos, his last two finally have Aeeji’s name under them, yaaay, it only took like three months
I also want to clarify that I don’t actually expect anyone mentioned to go back and credit their old videos. If they’ve let this many videos go uncredited for this long, like comments from their editors, and straight up not reply to basic questions, I basically have no faith that they would go back and credit them anyway. And if they do go back and change it, my reaction would be along the lines of “cool, better late than never I guess.” But the main reason is there’s basically no incentive to do so. A lot of these videos are very old and I highly doubt anyone is going to go back and watch them. And in Haruka’s case, what reason would she have to credit two videos from like two years ago presumably from a guy who’s twitter got nuked. So crediting them now would be very pointless. While I would greatly appreciate it, I think the damage has already been done.
What I want people to take away from this video is to credit their videos From Now On. I expect people to set a precedent of crediting their work and have people notice and appreciate the effort that goes into all of it.
“It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if some people believed that Rin made all her shorts herself, because there’s nothing here saying that she didn’t.” I changed bits of the script around, so this line may not make sense anymore. So while she does talk about her editors in some of her shorts, some people may not watch those particular shorts. So some people may get the impression that Rin was the one editing all of it, which could have been avoided… if she credited her videos.
“Portfolio Advice.” So I might have sounded condescending, and might have implied that adding videos from your own channel to your portfolio is bad. No. I think it’s great to add your own videos, if they show off how well your editing is of course. I’m not gonna name any names here, but I found a few people who have said they’ve worked with someone, not list any videos from them, and only showed off videos from their channel which gave me the impression that they’re lying. I didn’t get this very specific problem across because I didn’t want to ruin someone’s job opportunities and waste any time explaining it, if that makes sense.
Shorts. So I didn’t cover shorts at all because wow there are a lot of shorts, and I want to keep my life. But I think the problems that I talked about in the video still apply, and unfortunately, a lot more people don’t credit their shorts at all. Kage, Amalee, Bao, Shylilly, Obkatiekat, Rpr, and Geega to name a few. While I briefly talked about it in the conclusion and Rin’s section, I feel like I didn’t really dig too deeply into it, you know. So, I think the reason why youtube shorts aren’t credited is because people don’t see these things as something to be credited. And I completely understand that feeling, I feel worthless all the time. However, a lot of people do find value in these shorts. A lot of people put their shorts of Rin in their portfolios, and show those portfolios to other people. And while there are definitely tons of crappy shorts with no effort put into them, all the people I mentioned above look like they put a ton of effort in their shorts. What I’m trying to say is, if you really value your shorts, then you definitely should be credited for it.

It’s so weird to not credit the editors. So disappointing to see that some of my favs didn’t credit their editors.

usually the vtubing community is v serious about crediting everything, i’m really surprised that so many larger vtubers aren’t making the effort to credit their editors when they are one of the main reason vtubers are better known and gain traction
thank you so much for putting this video together, i hope those featured make more of an effort to signal their talented editors 💫

it’s a shame some commentors clearly don’t understand the importance of credit, claiming that their ‘payment’ was enough
      1. examples are in the video that point to some editors that require credit in their ToS yet it is still not provided
      2. credit is usually the main way any freelancer is able to gain new clients: graphic designers, artists, and editors alike - think of all the new opportunities and income stream they could be missing out on by fellow creators having no way to contact these editors if they are wanting a similar editing style
also they clearly state in the video that you aren’t automatically a terrible person for not crediting so they aren’t ‘making a big deal’ out of it, just signalling to an overarching trend

this is the sad truth about editors
literal slave wages + uncredited work it, honestly as an editor if I ever do professional work ill definitely make it a strict rule to credit me on every social the video will be posted ( great video btw!! )

I noticed that even when I was super into the League of Legends community. Hardly any creators I followed ever credited their editors - and as someone who is HYPER worried about crediting the wrong editor or thumbnail artist etc... it's just so weird to me??

its so sad to not credit it and how its normalised. its really really irresponsible of companies and the vtubers. although im not a fan of vtubers or an editor its devastating for the editors work to be unseen and taken for granted.

Hmmm I don't really know if it's an issue with Idol corp. What seems to be the case is that the editors are just under a contract and are getting payed. It's probably just that the contract said that they wouldn't be obligated to credit, but the editors signed anyway.
Not all work in the company is gonna be public and it seems they just decided that most of their editors won't be disclosed.
But if it's in the Vtubers power, I agree that they should credit their editors if they can.

I'm pretty late to the party but I was the one who edited every single one of the Lord Aeth shorts with the pink text earlier in his channels run, and he actually did ask me multiple times if I wanted to be credited to which I just replied "naw you're good", so with that in mind he has really been amazing at giving credit, but unfortuantly I doubt that's the case for a lot of the other editors however, which is a big shame.

After watching tons of clips/shorts iv noticed a lack of editor credits. Pretty disappointing because the amount of work that goes into them is crazy.

For the Idol Corp Vtubers they are done by corporate appointed editors, so most of the time i'm pretty sure that the talents don't really get close to their editors. And sure it should be credited anyways, but when has a company ever do that?

You should ask them directly, not sharing how you feels about it, because it may not hit the gspot even tho you stil get the view count *wink wink*, asking for how is it called again, simpatathy ??
I know how you feel,,,mm do i ? Probably dont, im not an artist anymore.
This always a problem but "they" (the complainer) also always too quite. So expect less, you cant just tell them how desperate you are, it would be too embarassing.

    A nothingburger.
Its either subcontrated work or they just dont want to share the names.
I would not want to share the name of a good editor if I want they to be aviable all the time for my content (If I were on their shoes).
You are 1 of the 10 people on Earth to be bother by this, most people dont really care.
    Nice video btw

Where is the issue here? If the editors don't have it in their policies and they got paid, it's not a problem whatsoever. If it was a problem most of those editors would have spoken up already. Editors are never credited in huge streamer's YT video either, never saw a mention of the editor in any Asmongold, Hasan or xQc videos either and those gets way more views and attention than any vtuber would ever get, and again if it was a problem I'm pretty sure editors would have spoken up already ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Credit is a courtesy most often practiced in the creatives space. It's a reason why your usual video essayist cites their sources

    • @spammus1
      @spammus1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@adventofnull Citing sources and citing someone who got paid to do a job are two completely different things. That and I guanratee you 99% of people watching content on YT don't check descriptions and most likely won't check out every single @ in said description. I really don't se where the problem is, if they got paid and they never said anything about wanting to be credited in a stupid yt description, then it's literally a non issue.
