  • I Wanted to come up with a more advanced (easier on me lol ) method of breaking /stretching hides .Something other then the usual common at home traditional over the cable or stick methods etc that I had studied while practicing new tanning projects and skills .. I found a old used 6” belt sander and manufactured it into this homemade hide staker/ breaker /hide stretching machine. It came together as I hoped it would and I am very happy with the finished results it provides..
Thankyou for taking the time to watch my video I made for you .. If you enjoyed it please Subscribe and share my channel with others in any way you can .. I am trying the exact same thing. I am stuck on what size motor to buy or if i could use a 1/2hp 120v motor i have and go with a bigger pully on the beater end for more torque? What size motor and what size pulleys are you using? I dont want to build something that bogs down. This is just for beavers and smaller animals.
Also is that a white boat bouyee? Thats Genius

Could you another video that discussed the breaker in more detail, shows it in more detail? Doesnt have to be edited or fancy, just you showing it closer and discussing what works what you would change etc. Very interesting! Liked and subscribed, thanks! Hope to see more tanning videos, appreciate it.

What do you use for the braket to hold the metal roller ? And what do you use for the roller

The roller and bracket are from the original 6" belt sander. I only had to modify it slightly to make room for the beater bars that are welded to the roller.. but really any kind of roller /pipe you could find and support shaft bearings would work.. If you go back into video and read the About description i wrote it mentions this.. thank you for asking..
