After Returns and Man of Steel, I think we were all caught off guard by how dynamic the color grading of the film is. Bright colors and fun angles really stand out
As someone who recently discovered the experience of having a dog…. I’m suuuuper endeared to Krypto as a concept now, and seeing him executed on screen. I LOVE this trailer. There’s a real energy to how everything is shot. The sweeping motion of the camera being repeated, even in shots where Clark and Lois are together…. I mean, in “Superman: For Tomorrow,” Clark says that despite him being able to do all that he can, Lois is the one who sweeps him off his feet. The shot of him walking through the crowd screaming at him, hurling debris at him…. there’s something so poignant about that, given our cynical world. Yet despite that, there’s this sense of brightness, optimism and heroism. The shot of him coming in and protecting the little girl from debris, totally reminds me of this iconic moment in “Smallville,” where Clark comes in to protect a little boy from the meteor shower. God, so much to process. But dammit if this didn’t get me excited to see Big Blue on the big screen……. and also, I’m stoked to see how the Justice Society plays into things! I love seeing Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl and Metamorpho in action… Guy totally looks like a doofus; and I’m okay with that LOL.
I think I’m so conditioned by the recent DC movies feeling so isolated and focused on a single character, that seeing Guy and the other superheroes took me out of it for a moment. But after watching it again, I can confidently say that this is the comic-accurate Superman movie I’ve been waiting for.
I absolutely love that it focused on the 'feel' of the movie, i especially love the shot of superman and lois embracing eachother while floating. And that music just feels so... big? sort of, booming. I love it.
David Corenswet looks so different when he’s Clark Kent and Superman. Also his theme is perfect, when I first heard it I just felt hope which is what Superman is.
The Snyder trailer from back in the day, with the little boy doing the Superman pose with the cape, was really moving and beautiful. The film however, for me, was a Superman I & II remake with a lot of darkness in spirit and color. Snyder can present a slow motion shot that looks amazing, but the use of slow motion in this trailer, with Superman saving that little girl, is how and why you use slow motion. And just that shot in this trailer feels more like Superman than anything from the Snyder Verse, in my opinion. If Gunn can make us care about a tree that says only one thing, a talking raccoon, and deliver that Suicide Squad he did, he has so much room here to really rip our hearts out with telling a refreshing Superman story. This trailer shows he will. Can't wait to see "a friend" again.

A lot of shots of people reacting to a Super being in their midst. His suit isn't tight and perfect to his skin, but looks a bit baggy. Green Lantern looks grounded by just being not perfect, like it's a guy who got power from a ring but didn't become Mr. Great Haircut. This could very well be an almost Watchmen-like take on superheroes, which is far from what Marvel offers. Their heroes, once suited up, look perfect, and the camera work is cinematography perfection. Gunn may have really hit the right note here because we haven't seen a super hero who puts on his boots in a clear, normal way. It's like Deadpool with cool, fast edits.

I really dig the overall tone and vivid imagery of this teaser. The kid standing next to a tattered flag with the Superman logo, the person throwing garage at Superman, and scene with Krypto all made me feel an element of hope. Finally, the guitar riff was simple yet effective in building up each segment. This was fantastic and I can't wait to see the final product.
I've watched this teaser numerous times today and time it hits me so emotionally. I love the feeling of hope the trailer brings to us. It's definitely the beacon of light we need right now. Man, I'm glad this video is blowing up. Coy works so hard putting out content and a lot of it kinda falls under the radar of the TH-cam algorithm. He's so positive, so thoughtful, and just seems like a good dude with a good heart doing great analysis from a place of love. Glad to see a new video of his doing well. I don't even really like Superman. He's maybe not even in my top 50 superheroes. No shade to folks who love him, he's just never been for me. Lois and Clark with chemistry!! Superman is as much a love story as it is about a hero. I'm so happy that it's going to be a focus. And I hope that the Pa Kent footage means we finally get a Superman movie where they don't kill Jonathan Kent. Jonathan is so much more valuable alive. I hadn't thought about the fact the trailer didn't actually give us any plot until you mentioned it, but I love that. It invoked an emotion and made me excited for a DC movie for the first time in awhile. My favorite part was the music choice, which is something I tend to like with James Gunn movies. He always seems to nail the right music for the moment. Was also overjoyed to see my boy Krypto bound into frame. Actual tears of joy.

Great 1st trailer. This is the SUPERMAN movie the world has been waiting for. Loved the tone of it and the Top Gun style guitar riff of the John Williams theme was perfect. This is going to be a massive hit for WBD/DCU Studios and this summer the Krypto plush dog will be the biggest selling toy ever. Everyone is going to want one.
Coy... That teaser trailer absolutely blew my mind and I didnt expect it to be that great. It evoked so many emotions and as you said without any words needed. The vibrant colors and overall presentation is gorgeous. I haven't been this excited in a while.
That teaser was great. And on the theme of hope, you had the kid pleading out for Superman, what sounded like Superman chants, and what looks to be in a battle with a kaiju Superman takes the time to save one person. That's who Superman is.

I remember watching the krypto Super dog TV show as a kid before school and seeing him in live action really was a punch to my heart.. there was a joy felt that almost seems foreign these days when we live in a world that thrives off hate and negativity. this teaser trailer even exudes that in the face of hate one must still persevere and push through for not only themselves but for our lives ones and those who need the compassion. the slow motion shot of him saving the child was what I needed. that's a hopeful and helpful superman I watched on the animated series. I am really looking forward to this and it's always best to remember that hatred can not cultivate where love overwhelmingly flourishes.

This trailer got me . I got emotional . Fantastic job James Gunn did eith this teaser . I had tears of pure joy . Havent felt this emotional about a trailer since Wakanda Forever. It also makes me emotionla because I saw Man of Steel the day my grandmother passeed . She was young at the time . She loved Superman i remember her watching the show with Dean Cain and Smallville how much she loved those shows . This movie means the world to me

I really loved the trailer! It was very good on so many ways. Most of all I liked as you mentioned, that we can feel Luthor's hate for Superman and the Clark and Lois romance without them even speaking. This felt great, and very hopeful. I'm even more happy to see you that excited!
Bravo for James Gunn, finally we are getting a Superman that's not a piece of emotionless brick like Cavill , a Superman like C. Reeves who knows how to act and has feelings and emotions!. On top of it James Gunn added our beloved super hero pooch Krypto who no one had the great idea to bring back from our childhood beautiful memories!.This is not a dark Nolan version of Superman but a more human and down to earth relatable Superman like Christopher Reeves.
The palette choice, the suit etc. all feel very "All Star..." to me. Which, y'know, * chef's kiss * :). (tiniest nitpick though - Supes talks to Krypto though I guess _technically_ that's not "dia"-logue :)
I was watching the trailer during the first part of your video, and as you mentioned there was no dialogue, I hadn't even noticed that on first watch. great trailer!
I like how Gunn is pushing true 'realism' in some ways (like at the start with a wounded Supes, or the more convincing Clark disguise, or even the less "hollywood' casting of Pa Kent). When you do that, you can layer on as much fantasy as possible. When what's on screen is emotionally convincing, you don't need the extra level of serious film filters, and stripping that away accentuates the reality of it. And because of that, they can keep it bright. And so, even when the story gets dramatic, I imagine overall, it will retain that overall spark, making it a film people will want to come back to to soak it in, to soak in that feeling that Superman is meant to remind us of -- "looking up" Already love this lived in DCU vibe, bringing characters to life through those visceral up-close wide-angle shots. Can't wait for more of it. Superhero museums, diners, and all those Kingdom Come vibes. And Luthor looks like such a "saturday morning cartoon" villain in the best way (between Lex and Krypto I'm reminded of the lived-in DCU of Superpets) but it looks like with an added layer of a quality performance. Hoult has shown his ability to do deliciously over-the-top intensity in movies like the Menu, and I can see why he was cast.
I loved this teaser! No shame the trailer made me cry from the music to the edit, JG was trying to make you feel with this and show us this is not what’s came before. Love to hear your love for comics and how this comes through on screen Coy! Keep it up and can’t wait to hear about the q&a!🎉
It's like we are ready for him to come back. With the dumpster fire of reality we are all experiencing, what will give us hope again but the GOAT superhero of all that is hopeful and optimistic. And you mentioned something provocative that maybe this is where Gunn is going to take DCU where each DC character despite the darkness and complicated histories of some will all direct towards a hopeful and better tomorrow.
I got all kinds of feels from this trailer. Seeing him, Krypto, Lois etc had me grinning. The rework JW theme brought a tear to my eye. Just perfect vibes.

Well said overall. Nailed it on the cinematic perspective - thought that zoom + width is incredible. I'd also say something about Supes hairstyle is almost kind of modern like my own kids' hair. It's like the floppy pushed down when he's Clark Kent, then parted over when he's Superman, but still alive and bouncing when he's moving at speed - especially in the scene where he's saving the little girl. Amazing trailer.

That said i'm glad to see mostly positive feedback about this trailer which certainly got me more excited about the movie...and Krypto may already be my favorite thing about this movie😊. Great 1st trailer. This is the SUPERMAN movie the world has been waiting for.
Loved the tone of it and the Top Gun style guitar riff of the John Williams theme was perfect. This is going to be a massive hit for WBD/DCU Studios and this summer the Krypto plush dog will be the biggest selling toy ever. Everyone is going to want one.
Coy... That teaser trailer absolutely blew my mind and I didnt expect it to be that great. It evoked so many emotions and as you said without any words needed. The vibrant colors and overall presentation is gorgeous. I haven't been this excited in a while.
That teaser was great. And on the theme of hope, you had the kid pleading out for Superman, what sounded like Superman chants, and what looks to be in a battle with a kaiju Superman takes the time to save one person. That's who Superman is.
Love hearing your thoughts on the trailer Coy. I was having a bad morning at work and finally got a chance to watch the trailer. It really brightened my day and I'm looking forward to seeing this in the summer!

I remember watching the krypto Super dog TV show as a kid before school and seeing him in live action really was a punch to my heart.. there was a joy felt that almost seems foreign these days when we live in a world that thrives off hate and negativity. this teaser trailer even exudes that in the face of hate one must still persevere and push through for not only themselves but for our lives ones and those who need the compassion. the slow motion shot of him saving the child was what I needed. that's a hopeful and helpful superman I watched on the animated series. I am really looking forward to this and it's always best to remember that hatred can not cultivate where love overwhelmingly flourishes.

It also makes me emotionla because I saw Man of Steel the day my grandmother passeed . She was young at the time . She loved Superman i remember her watching the show with Dean Cain and Smallville how much she loved those shows . This movie means the world to me

I never really grew up watching a lot Superman but seeing him as a more hopeful character makes me really excited to see this. July is gonna be a crazy month
I really loved the trailer! It was very good on so many ways. Most of all I liked as you mentioned, that we can feel Luthor's hate for Superman and the Clark and Lois romance without them even speaking. This felt great, and very hopeful. I'm even more happy to see you that excited!
Bravo for James Gunn, finally we are getting a Superman that's not a piece of emotionless brick like Cavill , a Superman like C. Reeves who knows how to act and has feelings and emotions!.
On top of it James Gunn added our beloved super hero pooch Krypto who no one had the great idea to bring back from our childhood beautiful memories!.This is not a dark Nolan version of Superman but a more human and down to earth relatable Superman like Christopher Reeves.

I was watching the trailer during the first part of your video, and as you mentioned there was no dialogue, I hadn't even noticed that on first watch. great trailer!
I like how Gunn is pushing true 'realism' in some ways (like at the start with a wounded Supes, or the more convincing Clark disguise, or even the less "hollywood' casting of Pa Kent). When you do that, you can layer on as much fantasy as possible. When what's on screen is emotionally convincing, you don't need the extra level of serious film filters, and stripping that away accentuates the reality of it.
And because of that, they can keep it bright. And so, even when the story gets dramatic, I imagine overall, it will retain that overall spark, making it a film people will want to come back to to soak it in, to soak in that feeling that Superman is meant to remind us of -- "looking up"
Already love this lived in DCU vibe, bringing characters to life through those visceral up-close wide-angle shots. Can't wait for more of it. Superhero museums, diners, and all those Kingdom Come vibes.
And Luthor looks like such a "saturday morning cartoon" villain in the best way (between Lex and Krypto I'm reminded of the lived-in DCU of Superpets) but it looks like with an added layer of a quality performance. Hoult has shown his ability to do deliciously over-the-top intensity in movies like the Menu, and I can see why he was cast.
I loved seeing a clark kent that FEELS LIKE CLARK KENT!!!

It's like we are ready for him to come back. With the dumpster fire of reality we are all experiencing, what will give us hope again but the GOAT superhero of all that is hopeful and optimistic. And you mentioned something provocative that maybe this is where Gunn is going to take DCU where each DC character despite the darkness and complicated histories of some will all direct towards a hopeful and better tomorrow.

Well said overall. Nailed it on the cinematic perspective - thought that zoom + width is incredible. I'd also say something about Supes hairstyle is almost kind of modern like my own kids' hair. It's like the floppy pushed down when he's Clark Kent, then parted over when he's Superman, but still alive and bouncing when he's moving at speed - especially in the scene where he's saving the little girl. Amazing trailer.

Great first impression review and not just because I agree with everything you said. Rachel Brosnahan embodies Lois with her presence on screen. Krypto looks right at home and Gunn didn’t shy away from the cape. This looks like it will be a love letter to DC fans
