They would never bring it back with the 4L engine which is bomb proof in that design. Fuel mileage is the issue.. Hell they still make these and ship them to the UAE to be distributed around the Middle East and you can also pick up new ones in the Philippines.. Their great on sand. If they brought them back they would have a 4cyl turbo GDI motor and 8spd's which don't last as long. As for 380 thousand thats nothing. I see those 4L motors with 500 thou all the time especially the early model which only has variable valve timing on one side. They have slightly less HP but have more Tq and it comes on at a lower rpm, which is what you want. No one talks about the sound which is fantastic because of interior design. Good sound deadening in the floor and it sounds like a concert hall. If you want one they are one of the few cars that are worth rebuilding and upgrading with cameras and electronics which everyone makes for the FJ . You can also pick up all new parts from Toyota including the plastic. As for sports car handling I wouldn't go that far. They handle good but sports car???

Love mine. Driven lots of types of vehicles this one by is the most comfortable but exciting to drive . Mines got a 3 inch lift and handles like a sports car too . Drives like a dune buggy on rails. Perfect off road machine. Front end doesn't hop when crawling up and over off road terrain or rocks . By far the best off road 4x4 I have ever owned. Was looking at Jeeps and glad we bought this after doing ouf research.
Puts a smile on the wifes face every time she drives it and the kids aren't embarrassed to get dropped off at school anymore.
Hope Toyota brings them back to the North America market.

If your fj is lifted and has bigger tires than 33" they eat bearings for some reason. They are know to do that. You'll be changing them every 100,000 miles or so. I know from experience on my 08. I am impressed and surprised you still have the original windshield. Not many fj owners can say that.

On par with most suvs. Nowhere near as sporty as even my Honda Civic! It's a truck, not a sports car. I have an 07 fj also. Im pretty sure the automatic transmission needs work.. it vibrates and shifts funny when it gets warm and going up and down hills, any tips on what to do? Everyone says change the fluid.. even though it's supposed to be "lifetime fluid".. it has 140,000 miles now and im scared cause my buddy had to pay like 4 grand to rebuild his auto transmission

The transmission is"sealed" because there is no dipstick. You can drain and fill the unit. There are plenty of videos showing the procedure. It is easy.
