I cant speak to the quality of CGI. But I can say that it looks terrible. The car explosion, for example looked entirely fake. And HF's face looks almost alien in some scenes. I can't get past that stuff. Practical effects almost always look better IMO
@@warrens.5933 nah fr. like indy driving a truck and punches a couple of nazis out of a truck is badass. but this is just too much haha. also spielberg used wide angles a lot, so the multiple cuts and close angles threw me out of the action
Overall this movie had it's fun moments but I certainly see why it couldn't live up to the rest of the franchise or even itself, BUT when that theme kicked in as he runs on the train, I couldn't care less. Hearing it once again on the big screen was magical.
This opening sequence is awesome! I could watch it again and again. It feels like you’re watching another Spielberg movie. I definitely consider this 20 minute sequence cannon to the Indiana Jones lore
The movie overall may not be great, but this sequence was a blast! It has all the fun of the train scene from Last Crusade mixed with the intensity of the one from Broken Arrow!
Indiana Jones is like the best underdog hero who i am so glad at best we got all be it no Paramount mountain dissole i did consider the last indiana jones film would have scenes and such not in line with the other four previous. But I gotta say if these first twenty minutes of the opening just kept the pace and nostalgic nodes this last jones Film would be a more appreciated filnal adventure ending success for all audiences. But i just rewatch The opening to dial alot to get my indy feed i need.
Love how everyone was complaining about Kingdom of Crystal Skull’s CGI while this one has twice more crappy looking effects. It’s obviously well done on a technical side, but I just don’t believe anything happening on screen. The fourth movie on the other hand looked waaaaay better.
Finally got around to watching this film last week. My opinion. The opening was great. Reminded me so much of the first 3 films. Then when the flashback was over and we were back to the present, the film became a mess. I loved about the first 20 minutes of the film, and the last 20 minutes. Everything in between dragged on way too long, the action scenes for the most part were underwhelming, Waller Bridge’s character was intolerable and beyond annoying until the last 20 minutes or so of the film, the kid felt so random and like a lousy version of Short Round, etc. There were some good things. Harrison Ford, John Rhys Davies, and Karen Allen of course. Mads Mikkelsen was a phenomenal villain like always. The score was great, and the final scene was phenomenal and a great sendoff to the franchise and character. I’d give it 2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Definitely better than Crystal Skull, but doesn’t come close to the first 3.
Agree with this, I probably gave this film 5/10 because everything felt rushed and another cash grab with a lack of effort for the characters while being dragged the whole rest of the film. (Again everyone could agree only the first 20 mins was the only good thing)
Waller Bridge's character is another "equality" shown into your face. Idk when those suits who push this agenda will understand that pushing something has always been a thing, but you gotta push it with some taste. The character gives strong Rey SkYwAlKeR vibes
I enjoyed this sequence but it suffers from the same feeling that the jungle scenes did in skull. Looks too artificial with that much cgi. Yeah we had green screen in all the movies but that was also combined with mostly practical in camera stunts. Skulls car chase has a lot of practical effects but I find the lighting used made it look overall fake I get why they use cgi here, Ford is too old and also the de-ageing needs be done. Having said that I had big smile on my face during these first twenty minutes And also we should give Ford a lot of credit doing this movie. He still movies like a young man. I was afraid of getting the same feeling like de Niro in the Irishman but no.
If people would pay 40$ a ticket for more than 20 minutes that cost 75 million$ they’d probably still whine even though their ticket price stays the same whether it’s a 250,000,000$ movie or a 12$ movie.
This movie was absolute trash, I think I would only watch the beginning because it feels like it was filmed in the 90s. The CGI again is ok enough. But I hate that the scene is just so dark to hide the CGI. After the opening this movie is hot garbage
The overload of CGI nowadays has a reason. Practical effects are tiresome and expensive so these godless studios just stuff their mediocre movies with a lot of computer graphics in the hopes that the audience is too stupid in not noticing!
The opening is a really good homage to Last Crusade being a flashback of young Indy trying to catch up to a train
I love this scene, feels so nostalgic, feels like it was made back in the 90s. And the deaging cgi on Harrison Ford is top notch.
meh there's way too much action and cgi in it the og trilogy didnt even have this much action. less is more

1:28 WILHELM!!!
At least they slowed it down…

Classic. 😂😅
I heard wilhelm scream too.

1:28 Wilhelm Scream Then Punch 👊
1:31. That's pretty much the only part of the film that made me think "Yes!"
Him running on that train and kicking Nazi’s butts is epic! That’s the Indiana Jones we know and love❤️
@@GRogers4097 It certainly is. :)
0:03 Indy: “Sorry boys! But I have a train to catch.”
The Golden Hawaiian Swordsman Dragon HIGHLY enjoys watching this!!! The scene was a great callback to The Last Crusade!!
It's not perfect but its great to see young Indy once more
Loved the opening scene.
If you compare this to The Last Crusade bike chase scene, it looks like a videogame cinematic.
Some of the CGI seems very unpolished, everything is blury
That's modern CGI to you!
It's called motion blur.
1:28: 😅😂 classic. Wilhelm scream.
1:13 It's like in the movie The Aristocats😊
The movie overall may not be great, but this sequence was a blast!

3 broken ribs, internal bleeding, and maybe the answer is *no*
If treated immediately, maybe....
0:24 awesome, you're great, Indiana Jones
What I am confused about is how Voller’s face was in one piece after getting hit by that metal thing
Interesting🤔
Same here, but if u look closely at the older one in 1969 he has a slight scar mark on his face
@@andrewgomez2736 well, that is only a slight scar, with how hard he hit that thing I would have expected his face to be more ruined

Absolutely awesome scene
Imagine if this was extended to be the whole movie and more of it was live action.

no Paramount dissolve and no title with location and year, really bothered me.
Now That was Awesome 🎉
Igual a la última cruzada
Le bruit des coups de poings: les mêmes dans le jeux 😂😂😂
I liked this scene, but at the same time I felt it was way too flashy as an Indy action sequence.

This was a CGI chase? Mmmmm didnt know!!!
a big chunk of it was actually done practical
So, not only everything is CGI, they are also too lazy to compose new music?!
Williams did it just to make you feel nostalgic.
The only good thing in the movie.
The first 21 minutes
Totally agree

Agreed.
This scene and the time travel part are the parts I really like about the movie
Agreed, Helena is the worst character of this entire franchise
I didn’t like this movie. Kinda got carried away with the CGI as you see hear.
CGI running on the roof of the train....🤣

just awful. why do you need CGI chase? why there cant be real auto and motocycles?
They did both though, but doing this super fast would hurt the stunt people and the actors.
