The only change in backstory I'd be alright with on the surface is if Laura's parents were archeologists, or at least aristocratic types in the scene, and Laura left archeology and/or the world of antiques to be a tomb raider. It's an unnecessary change, but I could at least see it for reboot purposes, and it'd be essentially the same backstory just with a few added wrinkles. Same relationship with her parents, still a tomb raider, and still an anti-hero.

I'm glad that Aspyr restored the posters, now all that they have to do is to restore Larson's jacket design and their remasters will be the definitive way to experience the original three games. (technically restoring the colour of the medi-kits would also be ideal but unfortunately The Red Cross make it their business to harass game developers for using red cross symbols in their titles, plus they had already made them green from Tomb Raider II onwards so changing the ones in TR1 to green provides some consistency which is probably the best we can expect)

I'm not supporting the changes in Tomb Raider Legend (since I haven't seen them) but I do know they were trying to make the series popular again since it had tanked by that point. So I'm not surprised they tried to mix it up, for better or worse.
Funny how they have an already strong and independent woman, but they deprive her from everything she is and insert a James Bondish twist, maybe more like Tony Starkish twist. The only interesting retconn from you're bio would be Lara's personality change happened because the plane crash gave her CTE and rhat would explain her "Awakening". That would be something interesting to explore.
i still think 2013 Lara was good and had they just given her more of a figure as the games went on it would've been perfect progression. as it stands 2013 is probably the best not-so-stylized version of Lara to date... but maybe i just missed an appearance
I'm glad that Aspyr restored the posters, now all that they have to do is to restore Larson's jacket design and their remasters will be the definitive way to experience the original three games. (technically restoring the colour of the medi-kits would also be ideal but unfortunately The Red Cross make it their business to harass game developers for using red cross symbols in their titles, plus they had already made them green from Tomb Raider II onwards so changing the ones in TR1 to green provides some consistency which is probably the best we can expect)
For enjoyable animated game adaptations look no further than Shenmue The Animated Series. It was wonderful.

Laura Croft - The epitome of a strong female character. Disowned by her parents with no money and in a boarding school, at around 18 she became the assistant to an archeologist. After a harrowing adventure changed her life, she became an archeologist and wrote books funding many of her own expeditions with her own money.
New Caura Loft - Rich Greek looking batman like girl james bond adventures with a full staff of ambiguous tech and support people. Not something any gamer would be interested in.

I'm not supporting the changes in Tomb Raider Legend (since I haven't seen them) but I do know they were trying to make the series popular again since it had tanked by that point. So I'm not surprised they tried to mix it up, for better or worse.
I see Lara Croft like Revy from Black Lagoon. Not a girlboss, but an actual, flawed character with passions and guns. They will surely ruin her.
They're not really comparable. Revy has no class while Lara is a very classy girl. I like Revy too, but I don't think they're very similar.

Funny how they have an already strong and independent woman, but they deprive her from everything she is and insert a James Bondish twist, maybe more like Tony Starkish twist. See, they actually don't want feminine characters. They want what MEN have. All their philosophy is based on envy, and the character is just a vessel, a puppet, for their true twisted intents.

As much as I liked how they improved the look of Lara when Legend came out and Anniversary, I do have to agree the tech team was a bit "Eh". Sometimes it was funny, but it definitely changed the feel of it.

I looked at that character design and I thought "Oh, it's the people who made Legend of Korra and Invincible, they only have one character design for women." But then I looked it up, and I did not know this until just now... _It's three completely different studios_ who made these shows, and they ALL look the same. I am just fully flabbergasted by that, how the fuck is it that Powerhouse Animation, Studio Mir, and Skybound Animation look exactly the same?

This is great really. "Croft Industries". We just got the villain we all been waiting for after Natla Technologies bit it. 20 years from now, on the next cultural shift, some proper female badass hero we all want will fight the big bad Lara Croft, I like this long run plot... The sad thing is, at this point it might be better than what we're getting.
