I’ve had these speakers for about a year and a half now and I love them more and more every day. I absolutely agree with your assessment of them. The timbre is right on, they are smooth and revealing and they make me smile.
At last a classical music review. I'm looking to buy a set. I predominantly listen to classical music and brass bands. I have to get to London to have a listen to them.
Pedro, this was an absolutely fantastic review. This is how reviews should be done. Not just the specs, measurements, frequency response, etc., but the emotional response they can evoke, especially when paired with the right electronics plus some great examples. Musical genres and instruments that will likely shine through these speakers as well. Also, their build quality and how they reproduce music as a whole, and not just how the lows, mids, and highs sound is so important. Thanks, Pedro. 👍🔊😊🎶
Nice review. I have owned a pair of the Sibelius for a couple of years now. I am an amateur viola d'amore player in full baroque set-up. You are spot on re the natural rendition of acoustic instruments, and even the room. With the Sibelius I heard for the first time "the room" in some recordings, which I always thought to be audiophile nonsense talk. -- Re cables, you can also order bare wire and connect the bare wire to the posts on speaker and amp (PassLabs XA25 in my case). -- I also listen to darkwave, electronica and punk. I like how the Sibelius renders the music, and have noticed that some of punk records are actually very well recorded for spatial imaging.-- Re sub, I tried adding REL x9, but after much fiddling, I disconnected it again, because I could never get it to sound cohesive, particularly in the time domain. I have to say, that I am rather bass averse.
Thank you, was waiting for this one and you delivered, very well. As an amateur musician myself I value your input and insights from that view. Hope to hear these one time, and who knows what happens next. Oh, I listened to your demo of the different French horns, but forgot about the differences and just enjoyed your playing, wow beautiful! But then, listening to TH-cam compression over my current BT headphones won't reveal all that much, I'm afraid. Best wishes and regards, hope to see you in the next video.
brilliant vid..I learnt a lot about full range drivers / crossover and how they express music from instruments...a musician who reviews equipment will always give insights that the ordinary reviwerer cannot match
I also play music and an audiophile and speaker building enthuiast. I deal with single driver speakers with an added stereo speaker woofer. But upper bass is still fed into the FR driver as well. I run an open FR driver on top of the box, with a woofer in the box. Good for both musical worlds, like doof-doof and string quartet. Perfect for any type of music. And they still sound point source and if there is any reverb in a recording, you are going to hear it! 😅
Beautiful playing, Pedro! As a professional piano tuner, I tend to listen for harmonics within a vibrating piano string or column of air. In the Second movement of Dvorak's 9th Symphony in concert Db, the maple and violet wood english horns' melodies tended to highlight the THIRD harmonics (Octave plus fifth), except at times the maple emphasized the second harmonic on concert Ab4; in contrast, the ROSEWOOD english horn tended to emphasize the second harmonics (octave harmonics) of the melody. The Grenadilla wood alternated between third- and second harmonics being emphasized. Interestingly, despite the vibrato you created with your lips, the harmonics tended not to follow the tremolo/vibrato in pitch and loudness. Cheers, Joe
In order of my preference, it's 1, 2, 4, 3. Strangely, I feel I have often preferred Rosewood (veneered) speakers to any others for clarity, but here I've placed that wood last. I liked the clarity, emotion and tiny dynamic details of the Maple, the Violet was less detailed and warmer, especially lower down the scale. The Grenadilla seemed less natural-sounding than either but the most even and perhaps the best all-round and most versatile. Finally, I thought the Rosewood a bit bland. I would love to hear you playing any of them, however, in real life. Thanks for another very absorbing video, Pedro. PS I listened through my phone/wifi via X150.8 and Harbeth 40.3XD (Walnut!).
Hello. I have really enjoyed this review. In particular your performances. Beautiful. I am considering these soeakers as i love sinhle driver coherency. May i ask about your cd playrer. I have a very good dac but would like an " analog " but refigned with full body source. Is this your reference cd player ? Thank you again
Thanks for a great video Pedro! Glad you loved my design :-)

Great review! And your Oboe playing is absolutely fantastic!!!❤
Thanks 🙏
The main reason the maker doesn't have tweeters is cos without them, the speakers are point source. Since they go up high enough.
Fantastic review… Thank you..
Gracias Pedro ! Yo vivo en Texas .

Amazing loudspeaker.Combined with a Sugden it started to sing .

THANKS FOR TRANSLATING THIS AND I THINK 💭 HARLEY APPRECIATES IT…BECAUSE HE HAS STRIVED TO DO WHAT PEDRO IS DESCRIBING 🤗💚💚💚

Thanks 🙏. I don't use the lips for vibrating, only diaphragm.

For now, I use oppo with denafrips but also have meridian 207 pro
Great review. What turntable and cartridge are you using?
I'm a sucker for Rosewood.
ME TOO 🤗
Hi Pedro, how they sound on some smokey jazz, big band, or some symphony? Many thanks for your share. 🙏🌹
Large ensembles can be a challenge, depending on the recording. The smaller and more acoustic, the better.
One uses tannoy Westminster royal gr to listen too my own sons recordings he's a professional trombone player bass trombone.
