HIGH SPEED PURSUIT 162+ MPH! 2020 Chevy Camaro Flys Past Arkansas State Police
ฝัง

- On August 13, 2023, I was traveling on Interstate 40 eastbound near the 245-mile marker, when an Arkansas State Police dispatcher advised a St. Francis County deputy was in pursuit near the 244-mile marker. I activated my rear radar and clocked a white Camaro traveling at a high rate of speed as I passed by the 246-mile marker. I had a positive reading of 160 mph in a posted 75 mph zone. As the suspect vehicle passed me, I activated my blue lights and sirens. The operator of the sedan showed no indications of attempting to pull to the shoulder.
The suspect continued to drive recklessly weaving in and out of traffic, without any due regard for motorists traveling in the area. As the pursuit continued east, Trp. Smith with the Arkansas State Police joined the pursuit. Trp. Smith’s unit could travel faster than my assigned unit, so he took over as the primary unit near the 249-mile marker. I was never able to close the distance. After losing visual on the car, I continued east at a high rate of speed due to Cpl. West advised that he was attempting to set up his spike strip near the 265-mile marker exit.
As the suspect passed Cpl. West’s location, he deployed his spike strip in an attempt to stop the reckless fleeing suspect. Cpl. West was unsure if his deployment was successful, so Trp. Smith and I continued eastbound toward the suspect vehicle. As the pursuit neared the 271-mile marker exit, Trp. Smith advised that he thought the suspect vehicle exited. It was at that time that we lost a visual of the suspect’s vehicle. When we lost visual on the fleeing vehicle we were told to terminate the pursuit. I then drove to the shoulder to shut off my emergency equipment and returned to normal patrol speeds.
Trp. Smith took the 271-mile marker exit and advised that he found the vehicle at the Valero in Lehi. I traveled to the said location and also confirmed that was the fleeing vehicle that passed me at a high rate of speed. No operator was located at the fueling station and is still listed as unknown.

It do typically be dodges. I swear to God, if you noticed they passed several chargers/challengers etc, I swear Arkansas gives em away for free just to make these video's, any ASP pursuit video I see is typically a scatpack-esc vehicle and they pass a ton of them on the interstate.

If you can outrun the cop’s line of sight, you can outrun the radio. That’s always been bullshit.
Left those big boats in the dust.🤣🤣🤣
Maybe he got away , but his vehicle didn't .
Once those state police got going they couldn't stop themselves even though they couldn't see what they were chasing for a long time.
Why would they stop under the probable assumption that the vehicle now had flat tires which would cause speeds to deteriorate to typically under the speed limits of an interstate? If you read the description they also located the vehicle so I'm willing to bet they got positive sticks on it.
They hoping the fool will crash out or be slowed by traffic allowing them to catch up. You probably one of those idiots that would stay in your lane while the cops are coming up behind you and mess them up huh.

And the Dodge and Ford people thinks it’s just their cars are the fastest? It seems some think that GM brand can’t compete with them? Well they believe the opposite now don’t they?!!
@@BigRed-Heron facts. 💯💪💪
@@BigRed-Heron , Idk anyone that thinks that... I've grown up with all of the major American brands but mostly Fords and Chevys. I never cared about the brand "arguing" people seemed to do as to "why Fords are sh**", "why Chevy is sh**", "why Dodge is sh**" and "so are the people who drive 'em" as completely immature because people who own the vehicles didn't design/build them. I always liked vehicles that would get me where I need to go and do the job I need them to do & hopefully without too much trouble... I then look at "what kinds of problems am I having with this vehicle, how did they design/manufacture this/that" and I can find problems in every single one of them because if I have to "make repairs" or "pay someone else", those things make a difference. I can say my worst experience was with a Dodge/Chrysler product with the "3.6 Pentastar" engine. As the mostly "non-mechanic with practically no tools/experience", it was a PITA and what I considered unbelievably stupid to find that these engines have a notorious "tick" sound. Now I've known some engines to "tick" and it was just the nature of it but this indicated a serious problem. I had inherited this vehicle from a loved one who passed away. I noticed the "tick" sound but wasn't sure what it was but logic told me it sounded like some valvetrain component and it probably shouldn't be... As I noticed starting the engine seemed a bit "sluggish". So I changed the oil and noticed drill-bit like shavings on the filter. I knew this was not right and what pissed me off was the fact that apparently the useless "drones" who "changed the oil/filters at the shop they always took it to", never said anything...
So I began to look online and found this problem, it's where there is a failure in the shaft/needle bearings of the roller rocker so the roller "drops" lower & the cam lobes begin to ride on the rocker frame where they get shredded. So I began tearing things apart and found score marks on all cam lobes but 1 of the 4 cams had 3 of it's lobes shredded to the point that the once "tear-drop" shaped lobes were COMPLETELY ROUND, that's how much steel was lost into the oil... I ended up replacing all 24 rockers, all 24 valve adjusters and that one cam. All because of the sh**y design of these so-called "engineers" to which these were apparently not the only problems with these engines that these Dodge/Chrysler idiots put the engine into since it's in some Chargers, I believe Challengers, the vans, Jeeps etc. Unbelievable how they make garbage like this, expect customers to pay tens of thousands for these vehicles and then pay out of pocket to repair what should've been recalled & redesigned.
Now THAT is the kind of thing I can b*** about like the next person but it's across ALL of the car manufacturer's vehicles I've ever driven/owned with their own unique problems. I direct MY anger towards the manufacturers/engineers not "the people who drive the vehicles"... I just thought I have some cars that are 20+ yrs old with more than 240,000 miles on those old push-rod engines and yet this vehicle was barely 6 yrs old and I'm finding this problem at 110K miles when I got it, so it had to be working on slowly shredding these things since 60-80K. Just unbelievable, these manufacturers ought to be held criminally liable for the $$$ they've "stolen" from customers & cost them in repairs etc.

@@Eli5.0not likely. They would be so down on the battery that they would be on the side of the road waiting on a tow truck. For an electric car to run it’s top speed. Fastest I ever drove was 135 in a 68 dodger charger back in '79 coming back with my girlfriend from a black and blue concert!! Very stupid thing to do, all because a mustang wanted to race! We won the race but I thought about what could have happened after and never did that again unless it was down a quarter mile strip!! The thought of getting a flat or another car cutting you off was too much and also having cops telling your loved ones that you and your girlfriend are gone and never coming back! Kudos to the states that can drive like that and catch them without harming themselves or other ones!!
I did 120 once in a 72 plymouth satellite with a 318; on a 20 mile straight stretch of interstate in broad daylight on dry pavement. Once was enough.

In these high speed chases on freeways, why don't the cops radio ahead and have a cop car a couple a miles down the road slow down traffic to create a traffic jam that the suspect can't get through. Problem solved.
It all comes down to the fact that the Camaro SS doesn't have a speed limiter and the Charger Pursuit does.
Without or without a limiter the camaro is going to be way faster than the charger

I don't understand why those Chargers are limited to 140.
unless they are chasing a serial killer there is no reason to endanger everyone else by going 140 to catch some random guy
By this logic, unless somehow they magically already know exactly who is in the car and they are a wanted murderer, they should not chase someone driving this reckless. The Camaro driver is endangering lives because he's driving that fast and doesnt have lights and sirens to warn others.

So I calculated the mile markers in the highest speed that I got was about 138 to 140 mile an hour and I believe that’s as fast as those cars will run so I don’t know where they’re saying 160 mile an hour or whatever they’re trying to say162 I guess they’re saying but yeah that’s truly impossible. You can calculate it and there’s no way possible.
It did not appear as fast as stated to me either. However, I know the camera could distorted the video. If radar clocked the Camaro at 162, I'm inclined to believe it. Also, the SS variant has a speed governor of close 155 MPH, so 162 is probable. The V6 is limited to between 135 and 145. I cannot recall precisely the speed. I owned one once. The Camaro on the video was the SS (V8) I could tell by the sound. It's also possible that was the ZL1, which has a governor close to 200 MPH.

No. The truth is that u don’t catch a car that fast when you’re driving a fkn Tahoe, Explorer, or 5.7 hemi Charger. The only cruiser in Arkansas that’s fast enough to catch that car is the 1 Scatpack Charger they have.
Them Arkansas boys run pretty good, but they could do better if they learn to work the draft. A 2 or 3 car train, rotating the lead to keep the heat down would have got the job done.
