    I remember this game. I had it for the Atari like two decades ago, and I had a PC port in the mid 1990s.

    Pole Position II on the 7800 is worth playing. It was the pack in cart.

    My 2600 came with its own version of Pole Position. This is certainly a step up from that version.

      ClassicTVMan1981X You'll like if, the analog control is very nice plus you get gas and brake buttons rather than the just all the time gas and button for brake the 800 version has.

    Why hasn't this game been updated for modern times? Seriously, its a great title and could be a GT/Forza rival. Won't be though....but like always with Atari, the potential is there.

    Wouldn't the title be more accurate if instead of "computer" you actually have the model? There were several Atari computers some of which way more powerful than the 65. That's like saying a game is on the Sony console.

  • @centipede167

  • @toonses4300

    wow such shet graphics and frame rate.

    • @dan_loup
      @dan_loup 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Toonses The game runs at 60 fps, but as it use tile based graphics with no scroll, you get that choppy movement.

    • @toonses4300
      @toonses4300 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dr_Kachu san Is there any Atari 2600 game that has smooth 60fps? I don't think so.

    • @dan_loup
      @dan_loup 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toonses Several do it due a combination of how simple the games were and the fact you had to redraw the whole screen manually, inputting the bg/sprite values on a per scanline basis as well, atari video only had data to work on a single scanline.
      Only if the game have characters with really complex movements that need two or more frames to compute or was trying to do horizontal scrolling on that 32x224 playfield layer.

    • @toonses4300
      @toonses4300 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dr_Kachu san I prefer smooth frame rate over graphics. I actually dont mind blocky graphics.

    • @dan_loup
      @dan_loup 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Toonses Sometimes you don't have much of a choice.
      Except on anything as powerful or more powerful than the sega dreamcast.
      Then you totally can choose, both in 2D and in 3D.

  • @johneygd

    Give it a few years and you'd be playing Sega's FAR superior racing games, be it Outrun or Super Hang-on, they're all better than this...

    • @kei_nishimaru
      @kei_nishimaru 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rad mobile? Very Superior, I've played the Sega Saturn version, better than OutRun in some stuff.

    • @Michirin9801
      @Michirin9801 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mygingerguy Heck, Nintendo has made a racing game better than Pole Position, maybe even on-par with Outrun, but it was only released in Japan on the Famicom Disk System, it was 3D Hot Rally, it's pretty good and very well made! You're better off playing that over Pole Position on any Atari computer...

    • @kei_nishimaru
      @kei_nishimaru 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, 3D Hot Rally was pretty Innovative for the time, but sadly never got a release here at all, glad most of us can import games from almost any country, so we know this game's existence.
      I still think that Rad Mobile is very superior than all the games you mentioned, also did you know that Rad Mobile's creator was actually Yu Suzuki! yeah the same guy who did OutRun before.

    • @Michirin9801

      also, The More You Know.
