I use for that radiator cooling fan motor , LM3608 (This module features the MT3608 2 Amp step up (boost) converter, which can take input voltages as low as 2V and step up the output to as high as 28V. The MT3608 features automatic shifting to pulse frequency modulation mode at light loads. It includes under-voltage lockout, current limiting, and thermal overload protection.
This module has a multi-turn trimpot (potentiometer) that you can use to adjust the output voltage. Since the trimpot has 25 turns of adjustment you can easily adjust the output of the module to exactly the voltage you need.
Boost converters are a great way to easily increase a given voltage, but that boost comes at the cost of less output current compared to input current.
Since this is a boost converter the output voltage has to be higher than the supplied input voltage.
If you need to decrease (step-down) a voltage consider using a buck converter such as our LM2596 buck converter module.

first off, thank you for your time and ideal. i have converted a small RV fan motor as wind turbine. use the six existing blades to mount the longer blades with PVC cement adhesive. the bolts and nuts add weight to the blades that will create drag.and may even lose the whole setup. I got the RV fan and motor 12v DC motor online with the six fan blade. I cut the 3" diameter PVC to 6 blade 12" long.and cement to the existed fan blades.be sure each blade is set about 2" from tip same contour of the fan blades and equally cement to same length onto the fan blade. use cloth-line clips keep the new blade until dried. since the motor and the blade do not have housing attachment, went to hardware store got a PVC fitting that will fit the motor into the T-fitting. bring the motor with you for PVC T-fitting size. you may have to enlarge PVC where the motor enter, add cement adhesive around the inside gap and fasten with hose clamp. once cement dried add more cement to keep it tight from vibration when the wind spin the enlarged blades. you have to connect longer wire (same gauge wire) when attach a reducer into the T-downward side and attach longer 3/4" PVC on the down side and run the two wires inside this tube. on the straight end make a tail to guide the fan into the wind direction. use short piece PVC tube 3/4". i used a plastic sheet as tail fin in triangle shape. the front of this fin should be 3" and the tail 8". the wind will direct the fan toward the wind direction. i tested the voltage coming off this small motor, indicates as high as 9v. i also have 200 Watt solar panel that allows me to connect to its main wiring to the controller; to the battery with inverter attached to the deep cycle battery. this should give me solar power day and wind during the day/night. i will do video once the fish pond is completed and use this natural generating power to run my pond mini-sump pump. i will title my video "DIY wind turbine/solar power fish pond DC sump pump" sorry for this long message.

@@TheRaptureIsComingSoon there are too many obstacles to overcome: high wind speed; size of AC/DC motor and propellers' length; fail safe cut off for overspeed motor. i just rely on the solar to charge the deep cycle battery with the controller that cme with the kit.after two years, still works like a charm.

How many amps are going through the MT3608? My setup was similar to what you have. I connected the MT3608 into a circuit that is supposed to show solid red led when charging and solid green when charged. At strong wind gusts which should give up to 1A for a standard incandescent lightbulb, I was getting less than 0.01A into the MT3608. Thought the circuit and the generator could be issues so I plugged a simple 9V battery into the MT3608 which was then connected to a led acid battery at 6V charge (usually 12V-currently checking to see if the battery is bad) and I got 0A flow. I can get whatever voltage output from the MT3608 I want though. I’m curious what amperage are you getting through the MT3608?

What is the MT3608, a charge controller to stop electricity going back to the Gene?. Also what motor did you use? as I’ve never seen a Fan motor that can be used as a Gene without some modifications. Mostly they are induction motors that need magnets added.
It is a boost converter that takes small voltage and increases it to a desired solid voltage level as long as the input meets a certain threshold. In this case I believe it is 2V

No, you will drain your battery you need a regulator rectifier to charge your battery

Very crappy blades on that generator. Max current output 2 amps with that module. Maybe you can charge cell phone.
If connected to the battery with a full bridge rectifier, a capacitor and a voltage Regulator, you can easily charge your 12V battery ( though it would take long to get full) and then use with your inverter
