Super awesome setup Nic. Now all we need is a good strong “storm” to put both the emergency lights plus the outside generator to the ultimate “real life” test. Though we can never predict the weather for sure there is talk of possibly some thunderstorms this Summer plus more wind/snow events come winter due to La Nina. Either way you are super prepared no matter what. How does it feel to have finally officially graduated Nic and super cool at 3:34 it’s the vintage 6500 from the middle school - Any plans to get that working with some of your bells, vintage devices etc?
Thank you yes need a good storm I will be waiting. Still have one week left of school. And yes there is a two-stage 6500 that one didn't come from any schools but from a friend still have to get some parts for it to be complete for a video.
I'm not even five minutes into this video and I already find it interesting! Each and evry one of your videos (that I've watched at least) are very interesting and very informative for that matter, keep up the great work! A little side note, when you mentioned that there are power packs capable of hundreds of watts available for emergency lighting I did a quick Google search for what the largest emergency lighting power supply is (mainly out of curiosity) and I found some that can go as high as 55kW from what I could understand (we're talking large buildings like shopping centres for these types of power supplies). That's for here in Europe anyways.
Great video Nic. You mentioned that you can't put an emergency lighting in the bathroom. Due to you don't have access to run power. Well that's no entirely true. You should have two branch circuits already in there. One is at the light switch box And the other is at the outlet box. After all you should have black white and ground already in both boxes. So all you need to do is run another romex wire up from box and add a plug or emergency light over the box. It's not really hard to add just one off the existing Branch circuits. If you really think about it. Anyhow for your monthly fire alarm testing. I think you should pull both fire alarms systems at the same time. So we can see what both system will say or do at the same time. So have your best friend help you out. By letting him pull one of pull stations and you do the other. Precisely at the exact same time.
I don't have access to run a remote head in the bathroom. there isn't necessarily two circuits in there . The receptacle is the only option but it is on an outside wall in a annoying spot possible but a pain.
Get a blank single gang plate and use a step bit to drill it out for the remote head. That way you can eliminate the extra holes that lets face it, DO bother you more than you want them too. You can also make it a white plate, so it better matches the strobe.
This video is sponsored by federal pacific electric stab lok breakers. Starting house fires since 1950 😂 nic, I honestly couldn't resist making a pun. If you were going to ask what breakers I prefer it's gonna be culter hammer aka Eaton those and square d QO are my favorites
Hey nic, question for you, would you ever make a discord server of your channel? So others can show fire alarms they’ve seen, questions stuff like thatb
He might, last video he said he started to follow around a company called “sparkys”… so therefor he might get a job there, and if he does we prob will, but all we can do is wait for the man to respond
Just out of curiosity could you not have used a low voltage wall plate instead of using the multitool to chase the stud out? I see you’ve done a proper job and fair play to you. I’ve fitted emergency lighting throughout my house and honestly it’s a huge benefit especially in a power failure. From the UK and have no clue on what your local codes are so please excuse me 😂😂😂
For this in my house I could have I just didn't have one and wanted to get the job done. However in general emergency lighting is considered life safety so it's just like fire alarm or higher voltage stuff where it has to be in a complete box.
make sure your main unit can support the amount of heads you want to add we had a few units we had to remove them due to it drawing to much draw and the batteries not lasting for 90 mins but iam sure you know that
some day when you sell this house the buyer is going to think you ran a commerical bussness out of the home with the fire alarm system and emg light etc
- at my high school, there is an emergency light that has been glowing for MONTHS! how does that happen? no way the battery lasts that long so it must be just something's messed up and its always on. idk.
WAKE UP MOMA, NEW NIC VID JUST DROPPED!

Not bad actually,
This look's great!

In a separate video he activated both systems at the same time because awhile ago I asked him
@@All_ConsumingBandu I must of missed that video. Thanks
@@nics-systems-electric Sorry Nic I misunderstood your comment there. I did not realize you would have liked to have a remote head in the bathroom.

Was looking to use a blank white plate but didn't have one

Looking good! 👍 😎
Hey nic those heads on the battery unit are 6v 4w
Hey Nic I also just graduated grade 12 yesterday. Since we're both graduated, will we see anymore school drills or system replacing?

Yes I believe I mentioned that in the video that the rated wattage of the unit can be sustained for 30 minutes
@@nics-systems-electric just checking:)
Nice!
hey nic did you have videos replacing fire alarm system from your old middle school
No it hasn't happened yet and I won't be there for it
Hey Nic, you should add a fire alarm in the panel room
He can't, unless it's a strobe only. It's too small for a horn strobe
???
What are you talking about
You'll hear enough from the panel piezo alarm. No need
COOL! 🆒
What battery pack is it running off please reply
Battery pack in the furnace room I showed it in half the video
@@nics-systems-electricThank you great video ❤😊

If it's the lights are illuminated very dim that is normal for testing the lamps

If you ever need a speaker strobe and get a speaker amplifier in the future. Let me know and I could donate a speaker strobe you could wire up.
