I know Will doesn't actually care but for anyone who wants to know: Michelin was just a tyre company, but to encourage people to drive more they started making guides for roadtrips showing restaurants with a rating system of 1 star meaning good, 2 stars meaning worth a detour, and 3 stars meaning worth a dedicated car journey. Basically they were trying to get people to drive more so they needed to buy more tyres, and in the process spawned a whole restaurant rating system.

The reason Michelin make tires and judge food is the same reason Guinness makes beer and the world records book, in the 20th century Michelin used the guide to get people to travel to far places and use their tires, Guinness made the world record book to get people talking in pubs but they all did it for money

The airbag one is actually great, not just for elderly but for people who have frequent fainting spells like with a heart condition or narcolepsy. 🤔 I give it a 10/10 because it’s a product that shows concern for people and their health. I would just hope they make it affordable. 💀

For anyone who doesn’t know the point of these things, they actually help with carrying drinks without spilling. I think it’s something to do with walking and sloshing having similar frequencies so this swing helps by counteracting the sloshing.

So Michelin judge food because they used to give recommendations for restaurants to stop at on road trips (encouraging people to drive more and therefore buy more tyres) and the really good ones got a star next to them and loads of people used to go to them and it became really prestigious

The drink holder thing which allows you to whip the drink around is incredibly helpful for people with disabilities. Things like parkinson's disease which impact the stability of your body can make it impossible to bring any open topped container to another area

Michelin making tyres and rating restaurants is actually very closely related. The restaurant rating started as a way to encourage people to travel. The more you travel, the quicker your tyres wear out, so then you need to buy new tyres more often

@@aj-zl2pi Not every invention needs a point, And also it has military uses when assaulting rivers or via rivers, Just because its no use to you doesnt mean there isnt people in the world its useful to. And also a lot of inventions are useless but sometimes become useful in the future as just part of that tech. But you have to be intelligent of how products and product improvement works to understand that.
I mean you don't know that in 5 years it becomes possible to drive a ship on land so it can park itself, Using the same tech just on a much bigger scale and it being refined slightly.
