the band apologising and stating he was having serious mental and addiction issues and would be receiving treatment. it’s not really his fault

Billie Joe Armstrong from Greenday actually suffered a breakdown due to his alcholism not long after that video and went to rehab. I find it really frustrating watching that video knowing that he was in a really bad mental state at the time and people think this video actually reflects who he is and how he normally behaves. He was just in a bad mental state and felt like they had been disrespected by iHeart as they gave them a very short time limit for Usher, I believe, an artist that has not been around in the industry for as long as they have.

@@lj7169 he did come to play, they cut their time down to 25 minutes after it originally being 45 for usher to come on stage. He was in a very bad mental state at the time and it obviously set him off.
That was rock and roll though, proper punk. They were told to get off the stage in one minute but the crowd were wanting more, smash the fucking guitar and leave like a badass, fuck Usher or whoever was going to come on next.

Its clear he was suffering and felt like iHeart had disrespected them as they cut their time for an artist that has not been apart of the industry as long as they have. He was pissed, validly.

I like green day, sometimes they were overboard but I love them. They always gave a performance and entertained the audience, maybe breaking a guitar seems extreme but it's a thing that bands like that do. They have money to buy more and it's entertaining, also they often tend to break cheaper ones.
