Sometimes it is just down to the fact that some newer drivers dont apply enough RPM when moving off causing the engine to labour.

I have a 2001 Audi TT Quattro 1.8 turbo. The pressure on my clutch is fine I can push it all the way to the floor comes all the way back up good pressure. When I push the clutch all the way down and put it in 1st gear it doesn't engage at all now my engine just revs.The 6 speed stick shift shifts every gear fine except that needed high revs or I'll lose speed while driving.I bought it and drove it home last week after driving it for an hour home I could smell a burning smell from the front driver side tire area.I knew it would need something with the clutch done to it when I bought it.So getting it to move from being parked and putting in it in 1st gear to get it going it has to be between 3000 and 3500 RPM in 1st gear just to get it moving and it's the same RPMs with each gear while I'm driving on the road or I will lose speed.The next day it got worse with the high revs to get it moving again but now higher motor revs to get it out my driveway then it had to go to between 4000-4500 RPMs in 1st gear from parked to get it going now. But the 3rd day it doesn't move at all now when I press the clutch down as I said there's a lot of clutch pedal there nice pressure feeling.The engine RPMs is going too high now and doesn't move at all I don't want the engine to scream cause it's obviously not going to move and now I can't drive it.In your opinion do you think it's the clutch? Should I just get a full Clutch kit? or you think it's a flywheel problem? Please respond this is driving me insane. Thank you very much.
I read somewhere that one of the signs is also when driving uphill that a burning smell coming out of the cabin could indicate a slipping clutch. This is strange to me because I don't notice any difference in the drivability or power of the car. Have you heard this?

I got scared and didn't drive the car and thought it was a clutch slipping I didn't drive the car for over a month I took it out yesterday and I pulled out in first gear like usual at least six times and it didn't do it... which is weird but like I said I let go of the clutch it's only in first gear and the wheels felt like it was shaking... I just had my clutch plate go out. It was a intermittent problem. Turn out to be the center springs in the plate. Some times it drove well. Other times I couldn't get in gear. One spring was gone and three more about ready to go.
What can be the damage on my car. I was driving along highway and as I engage gear number six and accelerated, my car had a high rave and was not in gear. I then stopped instantly and checked underneath, there was leaking oil on the ground which I don't know whether it's gear oil or engine oil. Is it normal that the vibration is not always appears? I just decided to go to nissan service to change the clutch set as i had vibration in 1st gear when i start. But since then the problem disappeared. Only 85k km in my nissan pulsar 1.5 dci. I bought it 1 year ago so I dont know how it was used before unfortunately.
What about when a car is very slow when moving and engine revs without going anywhere while in gear? I set off from lights and when i release the clutch the engine revs high before its normal again. Also plz diagnose a flywheel fault thanks. my clutch is kaput i guess, i have the sl;ave cylinder and clutch plate and frame already to replace.
Just an update. It was the clutch lol. The old clutch was so worn the metal plate under the friction part was pointing up having snapped away from its studs lol. WOW i thought, but all good now. Used the C20LET clutch which is more robust for mapping etc.
@@ungestreckt1 EXACTLY RIGHT LOL. Also the clutch plate was in an awful state, the metal part coming away from the actual plate. How it went into gear fooled me.
yo bro.. i have golf mk4 1999 i will never buy new cars anymore just cars before 2000 But now my golf sometimes 1. shifts gears when i start it 2. it is not grabbing any gear 3. if i turn it off it shifts like new car 4. IF i get it in gear when it is off then turn it on , the car is driving slowly without me changing gears i dont know how to explain it is sooo weird i bled the liquid from the system and put inside new fluid... But when i checked the canister it was full the master and slave cylinders i checked also everything i know i did. So plz can you think of anything other that i should do ???? Hi, I test drove a 2018 mustang ecoboost and it shifted so easily. Clutch slid into gears very easy. I then tested a gt and it took alot more to put it into first gear. Also when shifting it Jerked alot. Not sure ifbit was due to being rusty at manual but these were test driven 1hr apart. I'm in the process of buying the gt

I have a nissan 2005 ser spec V 2.8 my only problem is that my clutch pedal it stays low , sometimes i have to put my foot under the clutch to put it back to normal, but my car doesnt have any of those problems u were mentioning, it just stays low when driving for a long period of time, so would like to know could it be the pressure plate that it needs to be changed or could it be perhaps the clutch pedal that needs to be adjusted. How come every time I put in the clutch all the way, it doesn’t want to go into first? If I force it in, it either grinds, or goes in, but it makes a loud noise. But every time I go from neutral to reverse, it only grinds, it doesn’t go into any gear without grinding. That’s why I keep turning it on in gear, which isn’t good.
look up "rev matching" that should give the answer to your question. 1st gear is really only used to get the car moving. You never want to shift into first when driving normally, because it's fucking bad for your clutch, shifting to first (or reverse) at "high" speeds is considered money shifting. I reckon your car manufacturer implemented some safety percussion into your car, preventing the driver to carelessly shift into first, that's why it won't go in. the grinding sound is the sound of the clutch getting fucked up.
If the reverse gear refuses to engage wait for a few seconds , go into first gear , go just a little forward and then the reverse gear should not crunch , works for me every time . It' a good habit not to switch between 1st and reverse ( and viceversa ) too fast or you 'll hear that grinding noise .
@@-pdp-3779 very true, one way to test is to coast at around 30 mph and hold the gear towards first gear and slowly reduce the speed with the brakes. You should find that as you slow down the gear slips into place when safe speed is met. it's the equivalent of having "do not drink" on bleach but that is none of my business.
Hello! I own Volvo s60 d5 2006, and when engine is cold I hear rattling noise behind front left wheel. When I press clutch pedal, the sound is gone, or when it starts to rise temperature. Sometimes it makes noise, sometimes it don't. Shifting is normal, can't feel vibration or clutch pedal been hit while its pressed. Cheers!

Start engine with handbrake ON and clutch down. Keep hand brake on and try to set off in first gear. Car should stall. If it dosent stall, your clutch is gone.
That mean the transmission bearing is bad or your pilot bearing is bad, that happen to me too at first I thought it was the pilot bearing but it was the transmission gear hope that helps you
I get a screeching sound when pulling away in 1st gear sometimes the car shakes a little. This is worse on a hill start and in cold weather, the car drives normally in all other gears and the biting point is still in the middle of the pedals travel. The clutch on my 07 Mustang GT seems to perform okay, but the amount of force to press down the clutch pedal is...very unusual. The clutch is much softer in other cars of this model. Also, my friend agrees the clutch pedal is curiously resistant - this is important because he owned a 94' Dodge Viper, a car infamous for having pretty much the hardest clutch known to vehicles outsides of tanks, so it's notable he found it extreme. Let me wheel it back a bit, I'm not trying to give the idea that I have to push the clutch with both feet with my back against the seat and my butt in the air - it's not THAT bad. It doesn't effect my ability to drive the car. I'm used to it too. It does get a little annoying in stop and go traffic, but my concern is not the force it takes but the possibility it may be so hard to depress because the clutch is bad. I don't want to be puttering around with a bad clutching doing who knows what to my poor transmission. Thing is, I bought the vehicle used and it already had some light performance modifications. Nothing that would *require* a stronger-than-stock-clutch but I guess it is possible the previous owner put a really beefy one on. I guess there's no real way to easily tell if it's an aftermarket clutch or not, huh? Any thoughts on whether it sounds like a worn clutch or a beefy aftermarket clutch, and if there are ways to tell?
it’s so difficult to tell, and i’m not sure if the 07s have a hydraulic or cable clutch, but if it’s a cable clutch, it could be the cable. i would try and adjust it if it’s an adjustable cable

Hi I have a Vauxhall corsa twinport for over 20000 miles I have been battling with the biting point on my clutch it slips a bit I believe due to oil leaking into it but the clutch doesn't show certain signs of failure maybe because I have mastered the precise amount of gas to give it. last few days I can hear a slight clunking noise when I change gear only 1st and 2nd gear. it's only on 55000 miles I have owned about 15 cheap cars in my life and never had clutch failure once. I don't understand exactly what is wrong with it the biting point is quite high but the clutch is still withstanding extreme hillstarts. I live in wales and even the sheep here get burnt out clutches its so hilly :-) how long can a clutch last like this and would I have already done damaged to the flywheel? hi my gear is vibrating while slowly engaged after changing the clutch kit including bearing, the gear shift is getting harder like stuck to engage into 1st gear, is kind of resistant, have to shift to other gear and try engage again, sometime it doesn't work have to engage forcefully. what is going on here?

As a paranoid individual on anything that is expensive or hard to get to this helped me determine that my clutch is in fact ok

Golf 6 tsi. The car vibrates when taking off, but it drive fine and pull fine. I replace the dogbone mounting but still experiencing that problem

You have to feather the gas when pressing the clutch in and launching from a stop.
Mine vibrates for a second, rpms drop a bit when i let go of the clutch in neutral

I have a nissan 2005 ser spec V 2.8 my only problem is that my clutch pedal it stays low , sometimes i have to put my foot under the clutch to put it back to normal, but my car doesnt have any of those problems u were mentioning, it just stays low when driving for a long period of time, so would like to know could it be the pressure plate that it needs to be changed or could it be perhaps the clutch pedal that needs to be adjusted. How come every time I put in the clutch all the way, it doesn’t want to go into first? If I force it in, it either grinds, or goes in, but it makes a loud noise. But every time I go from neutral to reverse, it only grinds, it doesn’t go into any gear without grinding. That’s why I keep turning it on in gear, which isn’t good.
look up "rev matching" that should give the answer to your question. 1st gear is really only used to get the car moving. You never want to shift into first when driving normally, because it's fucking bad for your clutch, shifting to first (or reverse) at "high" speeds is considered money shifting. I reckon your car manufacturer implemented some safety percussion into your car, preventing the driver to carelessly shift into first, that's why it won't go in. the grinding sound is the sound of the clutch getting fucked up.
If the reverse gear refuses to engage wait for a few seconds , go into first gear , go just a little
forward and then the reverse gear should not crunch , works for me every time .
It' a good habit not to switch between 1st and reverse ( and viceversa )
too fast or you 'll hear that grinding noise .
@@-pdp-3779 very true, one way to test is to coast at around 30 mph and hold the gear towards first gear and slowly reduce the speed with the brakes. You should find that as you slow down the gear slips into place when safe speed is met. it's the equivalent of having "do not drink" on bleach but that is none of my business.

I own Volvo s60 d5 2006, and when engine is cold I hear rattling noise behind front left wheel. When I press clutch pedal, the sound is gone, or when it starts to rise temperature. Sometimes it makes noise, sometimes it don't.
Shifting is normal, can't feel vibration or clutch pedal been hit while its pressed.

mine has a burnt smell inside the car when driving after like 10 mins, and also when I'm in 3rd of 4th gear and try to accelerate fast, as soon as it hits like 40mph the gear kinda slips? and it's like in neutral? so the rpm is very high (since I'm pressing the gas) but I'm no longer actually accelerating... and then when I apply brake and come down to like 20mph it goes back to normal. any help is appreciated thanks.

You can stop the oil leak then burn the excess oil off by purposely slipping the clutch a bit it will come roght after a while.
I don’t get stalks, bought another mk4 with a clutch slipping.. is soft to press, but will go high in the revs and no drive in 3rd gear.. going to change, is it recommend to change the gearbox also? (I have a spare gearbox)
Oil on clutch plate may also need a oil seal replacment

Note: i just recently replaced the fuel filter.
Start engine with handbrake ON and clutch down. Keep hand brake on and try to set off in first gear. Car should stall. If it dosent stall, your clutch is gone.

That mean the transmission bearing is bad or your pilot bearing is bad, that happen to me too at first I thought it was the pilot bearing but it was the transmission gear hope that helps you
I get a screeching sound when pulling away in 1st gear sometimes the car shakes a little. This is worse on a hill start and in cold weather, the car drives normally in all other gears and the biting point is still in the middle of the pedals travel. I have been told it might be the one way bearing in the clutch. What do you think the problem could be?

I have a problem happens after 5 10 k in miles? From stand still i select 1st when releasing the clutch i hear a drill type of sound and the van wont move but when you press the clutch pedal in and go to move off again its fine, any idea on what this can be?
My mechanic friend said my clutch is done. But I don’t know if it’s necessary to replace the whole thing, adjust something, or replace just a part. The clutch on my 07 Mustang GT seems to perform okay, but the amount of force to press down the clutch pedal is...very unusual. The clutch is much softer in other cars of this model. Also, my friend agrees the clutch pedal is curiously resistant - this is important because he owned a 94' Dodge Viper, a car infamous for having pretty much the hardest clutch known to vehicles outsides of tanks, so it's notable he found it extreme. Let me wheel it back a bit, I'm not trying to give the idea that I have to push the clutch with both feet with my back against the seat and my butt in the air - it's not THAT bad. It doesn't effect my ability to drive the car. I'm used to it too. It does get a little annoying in stop and go traffic, but my concern is not the force it takes but the possibility it may be so hard to depress because the clutch is bad. I don't want to be puttering around with a bad clutching doing who knows what to my poor transmission. Thing is, I bought the vehicle used and it already had some light performance modifications. Nothing that would *require* a stronger-than-stock-clutch but I guess it is possible the previous owner put a really beefy one on. I guess there's no real way to easily tell if it's an aftermarket clutch or not, huh? Any thoughts on whether it sounds like a worn clutch or a beefy aftermarket clutch, and if there are ways to tell?
it’s so difficult to tell, and i’m not sure if the 07s have a hydraulic or cable clutch, but if it’s a cable clutch, it could be the cable. i would try and adjust it if it’s an adjustable cable
It might be a stage 2 or 3 clutch, they are always harder to press down! Hope that helps

Could be the mechanism that is connected with your shifter to change gears. Or maybe some gear must have wears.

The whining is the clutch bearing. It's had it. You can replace it on its own but not a good idea. Best to replace whole clutch

Hi I have a Vauxhall corsa twinport for over 20000 miles I have been battling with the biting point on my clutch it slips a bit I believe due to oil leaking into it but the clutch doesn't show certain signs of failure maybe because I have mastered the precise amount of gas to give it. last few days I can hear a slight clunking noise when I change gear only 1st and 2nd gear. it's only on 55000 miles I have owned about 15 cheap cars in my life and never had clutch failure once. I don't understand exactly what is wrong with it the biting point is quite high but the clutch is still withstanding extreme hillstarts. I live in wales and even the sheep here get burnt out clutches its so hilly :-) how long can a clutch last like this and would I have already done damaged to the flywheel? hi my gear is vibrating while slowly engaged after changing the clutch kit including bearing, the gear shift is getting harder like stuck to engage into 1st gear, is kind of resistant, have to shift to other gear and try engage again, sometime it doesn't work have to engage forcefully. what is going on here?
before changing, it was totally smooth during engagement, no vibration no hard shift.
