This isn’t a port it has completely different level design and is fully 2D unlike the wii version with has some 3D and the music sounds different (and other stuff)
This is better than the wii version because it's showing what happens to yacker after their adventure together and also the mother of the wisps are the true final boss and now sonic is using the chaos emeralds to beat the nega mother wisp. So yeah it's great and better

Colors DS > Colors Wii Because its purely 2D & utilize momentum required for the level design unlike the Wii version that consider to be 3D Sonic but relying heavily to 2D & basic level design that scream Sonic 1. Not to mention the wisps was designed to 2D gameplay on purpose that the Wii version not aware of its identity. Level structure is also better in DS version as well. Each zone contains 6 act like the Wii version but the next 3 act is just reused level from previous acts that calling it as new act. DS version is the same but its understandble because they made 3 mission acts that based & reused level from 2 main acts before.
It's up to taste. I like the Wii version better, partly because the DS is really clunky to try to play. I have to play almost every DS game on my 3DS because the d-pad for the DS is microscopic and it sticks easily. Thank God the Wii U supports use of the original Wii Classic Controller, or I don't know what I'd do on the Wii Sonic Colors.

I remember playing this game all the way back when I was in Intermediate school! Every bus ride home sitting in that double seat gray sofa looking out the window, while everyone was yelling over their favorite colors or what happened in class. One day I got a 3DS and man those bus rides become so cool because it helped me make new friends and finally start being optimistic about life for those 2 years. I missed those days so much, but now I'm a college student working on becoming a nurse watching sonic colors lol. The kid in us never fades, but always remembers the good times that we call "memories".

Weird to think the DS version utilised the Sonic cast way better than the big Wii version. They should've made Unleashed style hub-worlds with those characters talking to you through text boxes on the Wii, IMHO.
I was sure that after Sonic saved Chao there was a scene where he, Tails and Cream discussed what name they would give him, but I'm not finding that moment
To be perfectly honest here, i think i kinda prefer this version over the Wii one. The sense of speed is way more fulfilling here, there's no padding, the writing is so much better and the exclusive additional content is overall solid. Sure, it has its problems, but this version really surprised me for just how great it is.
I remember playing this when I was like six. I would RAGE trying to beat the final battle. One time I raged to the point where I mashed buttons. Guess how I realized how to beat the boss battle lmfao
I prefer the Wii version overall, but there are some things I definitely like better about this version. Most of all, Violet Void is way better than Purple Frenzy.
I wish they remade some of these levels in colors ultimate and copy the story from this aswell and also once you beat the game play the ds colors for a cool Easter egg and once you beat that game including mother wisp boss make it unlockable in the wii version. There was so many opportunities for colors Ultimate and they wasted it

I still have this game. It's a more decent version than the Wii and Ultimate versions. This one is better in my opinion because it is more of a legit portable version of the game than the switch version.
All of Sonic's friends were still in Eggman Land when it blew up. And they never showed up at any point at the end of the game. So you could interpret that as all of Sonic's friends dying! (Obviously they don't because they show up in later games, but...)

Never got this far. Was stuck on one of the Planet Wisp levels as a kid. My Y mashing came from The Legendary Starfy.
Starfy only let you press Y and I think X.
