    One thing which spooks me is the plastic bag / sheet put over the ingredients while boiling the same. Plastic is unhealthy. The chemicals released in the foods from the plastics when boiling could be carcinogenic. A better way could be putting a cloth to segregate the ingredients. Nice video though!

      Shuvam what about wrapping hot food in plastic to keep it warm for long? In the absence of plastic what can be used?

    • @roshnikutty1839
      @roshnikutty1839 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markntiri8251 don't know where this idea has come from. But, wrapping anything hot in plastic, especially food, is dangerous for human health. The heat reacts with plastic and releases carcinogenic compounds that get absorbed in the food. So please avoid the practice. Plastic doesn't help keep the food warm.

    Before plastic became so ubiquitous,I remember my grandmother used a piece of cotton cloth ,usually the cotton sack that flour is sold in. It was specifically used for that purpose. It was used to cover the large pot full of the plantain,cassava,yam,coco yam etc so that heat is retained and less water is used during cooking. I remember that ga kenkey was also sold in a pan that was thickly lined with the same kind of cloth and covered with same and it stayed hot for hours. So called advancement and modernization is killing us slowly. The other issue is that food grade plastic is expensive eg. clingfilm and what our people are using is cheap and dangerous packaging plastic that leaches toxins into the food when heated.😢😢

    It’s VERY delicious !! But Füfü is very heavy. It is *not* a small, hot-weather, snack. If you’ve been doing hard work all day long, this is where you refuel and take your time eating. It’s the Fufu. I’ve never seen this dish served without it (the dough that is dumpling-like). The flavour is wonderful. There are some spice combinations I’ve only experienced in Ghana: I’m experiencing “saudades.”

    The palm nut very closely resembles a fruit found in Trinidad and Tobago called peewah. It is boiled in salted water, then peeled and eaten. We do not make soup out of it or use it in cooking though. We also call garri, farine. This is grated and dried cassava. It is hardly eaten now as most people tastes have changed. The green leaves of the dasheen plant are cooked here and widely enjoyed. While we reside in the Caribbean our foods are somewhat similar.

    • @cookingwithsindaco
      @cookingwithsindaco  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes with the nut you can eat it after boiling. And we make the gari and farina with the cassava too here in Ghana 🇬🇭 . Both the two are highly consumed here in Ghana. Remember the original root of the Caribbean is Africa so it the same culture running through

      Every Black from the west Indies(Caribbean) originated from Africa during the slave trade...thus so much similarities in terms of food, looks and way of living...we are one people...just that you people were left on the plantations after the abolition of the slave trade...AFRICA is your motherland
