It's so wonderful to see a whole lot of our (Indian) folks abroad, including the USA, pursuing our arts with such discipline and devotion: reasons to believe that our culture is still in safe hands with our next generation. With my primitive understanding of music, the Raaga is close to "Shubha Panthuvaraali" in Carnatic classical and "Gurjari Thodi" in Hindusthani classical?
This composition is by Sant Tukaram... his mudra is in the composition itself.. "Tuka mhane..etc...". I wish the singers had listened to Bhimsen Joshi's or Lata Mangeshkar's rendition several times, so they could have absorbed the meaning of the abhang, the correct pronunciation and the accent. That would have improved the performance......many mainstream Carnatic artists such as Ranjani/Gayatri (RaGa) and Aruna Sairam do an excellent rendition of an abhang without any loss in clarity in the lyrics. MS Subbalakshmi has also sung this abhang, but with a distinctly south indian pronunciation of the lyrics.
great.. in india we do not gave opportunity in school as indian clasical music is communal . we can not even render great mantra at school as we are secular country. that restriction is not there abroad. next best singers of indian clasical singers will come from US or Uk

It's not a bandish, vocals are showing there talent, can't feel the bhakti, don't misunderstand however I strongly recommend to listen how it is originally sung. Good though
