I love how this song captures the feelings of dread, doom and horror that was WW1 and trench warfare. Not all metal bands out there get that or manage to put that across. War is quite frankly horrific, and we'd do well as a society to remember that.
Indeed. War is horrible and it really pisses me off, when some bands present it as something "glorious" and "brotherly". One of the reasons I despise Sabaton.
@@draganov Sabaton didn't glorify wars, they just show us what it is. It is glorious when soldiers fight for their own country, for their own people, for their own freedom. It is brotherly when soldiers fight side by side with brother in arm Against All Odds even go far to the point that they can sacrifice themselves for their friend and family. you have to understand that wars is Humanity grayzone, in wars it show us the bad thing that human can do to each other in the same time it show us the good thing human can do to each other. Wars is generate by greed, hatred, contradictions and divergence. all of that is Humanity nature so as long as human continue to be human there's no peace just temporarily prepare for war. And many of this Sabaton song show the dark and depressed side of humanity for example final solution, The End of the War to End All Wars, In Flanders Fields, Great War, Fields of Verdun. so yes it's not glorify when they just tell the true.
Absolutely, especially when you've experienced war yourself, but my war, our eras war, was nothing as horrific and terrible as ww1, its hard to imagine trench warfare, these men on all sides were truly IroN MeN. Hail the fallen.
It were the good tunnels - 26 ways of doom One million pounds of ammonal Were packed into the underground pits Our artillery was silenced, for the first time in years, all was quiet The sky was a very dark blue in the pre-dawn light And I swear we heard how the nightingale sings 3 a.m. 7th June We demolished the bottom of Messines Trigger down, torn apart by the whirlpool of flame Nineteen explosions, 10, 000 were killed, colonel said The boches were stunned, dazed, and horror-stricken If they were not killed outright Many of them lay dead in the great craters opened By the mines secretly planted by "the Moles" Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't And i swear we heard how the nightingale sings 3 a.m. 7th June We demolished the bottom of Messines Trigger down, torn apart by the whirlpool of flame 10, 000 were killed, colonel said It were the good tunnels ...
Another great song! Interesting fact: there are still some giant mines from this battle underground in the area today, all are inaccessible though because the tunnels have collapsed. The last explosion occurred in 1955, when a 20m deep crater with 60m of diameter was created.
And above one of them is a farm. I call it Kaboom farm. It's a lovely place, but... above a damn mine of severals tons if I remember correctly. (I was told the mine can't explode anymore but stil...)
Once again, I am extremely impressed with this band. The vocals are like Death telling the tale itself. The guitars, bass, and drums intensify the feeling me emitting from the track! Amazing! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
I cannot put into words how fucking awesome 1914 is. Thank you for fusing my passion for WW1 history and blackened death metal together in a way that is more amazing than I could ever hope for.
Guys, congratulations, this is a really talented and well-made product. I watched the clip and listened the track on the one hand with incredible aesthetic pleasure, on the other hand with a sense of horror at the realisation of the tragedy of the depicted events.
I love the cartoon. I mean, yep, it's gore and gross, but so was the war. Everything is so perfect. The music, the voice, the feelings they give. I used to work for an Aussie's company, Messines' ridge was part of our remembrance tour. Where you can see deep ponds, an explosion occured for sure.
(EN) British remember their war loose and wins. In songs and poetry. It's good. But we..we'll hear Sabaton about our history. (Ru) Британцы помнят их военные поражения и победы. это хорошо. Но мы...мы будем слушать Sabaton про нашу историю.
I played a war board game based on the Battle of Messines. I didn't know anything about the battle until I was reading through the rules and I realized what was going to have to defended against. Needless to say, it was a dark few hours lol
Well if their goal was to capture the sheer brutality of what was probably the most savage war ever they succeeded. Some things need to be remembered so we don't repeat the mistakes of this preventable pointless war.
Yet again another class tune....you take history and make sure people don't forget it...and for that I thank you..war is terrible and as a mum..I feel for those who have lost sons and daughters to it
I have the luxury to (legally) listen to the new album in full already. It's a gem! More symphonic sounding but still 100% 1914 in its glorious heaviness. "FN .380 ACP#19074" will be awesome live! It's really cool to hear how the sound of the band has evolved with every release. Can't wait for both the vinyl and CD to arrive!
Aight man, I ain't asking for a way to listen to it but I want to know something. Which song would you closely compare in terms of sound and speed to the hellfighter song in the new album, from the songs in their two past albums? Cause that is the song I can't wait to hear
@@Locoinmysleep Hard to compare because the songs are all unique and the band sure is putting effort in not repeating themselves. But when it comes to speed, let's say something between Dernier Pigeon and Stoßtrupp. It's more melodic fast than brutal fast, but an excellent track. Love it!
@@Frank074 yo, I just heard to that first track about FN. So far, that song, for me, has been the best they have ever made, maybe I'm more of a melodic listener, but that song will be the highlight of any live show. All I gotta do and wait for the whole album to drop
After I heard this song I did some research about the story that is told in this song. I am shocked how ONE SINGLE EXPLOSION killed 10.000 German soldiers. This is unbelievable. Love this song. Greetings from Germany.🇩🇪
The 10,000 is one of the famous Myths of Messiness. The number killed by the 19 mines (not one single explosion) alone is estimated by the British to be far lower not likely more than 500-2,000.
I liked it but prefered the other track released, this song sounds like it'd work better in an album context than as a single... Cool Video and I can't wait for the album to drop.
Goosebumps! Reality of war for such successful offence operation. Meant to be hymn of victory but guys made it dreadfully natural. Perfect work! Just perfect
I tried to like this song but the ringing in the middle of the song is incredibly irritating. I don't want to turn down the volume for that part every time I listen to this song.
Sorry but that high pitch ringing at 3:45 just ruins the whole song. Its fine for the video but listening to that with headphones at work or wherever else is not pleasant.
