    3 pieces of 20 gauge square wire in half-hard, 11 inches long
    22 gauge half-round wire, mine is dead soft because I didn’t have half hard but it would work same way,(no need to measure and pre cut, just keep it on the spool and use as needed)
    1 cabochon, mine is an oval Labradorite that is about 33mm tall
    All my wire is dead-soft bare copper from www.RioGrande.com

    Is it weird that I love the *feel* of the precious metal (mainly HH) wire? Nothing makes me happier than a fresh batch delivery!! 😍
    Thank you, Oxana! 💜💜💜

    I find it funny, my wife and I only work in half hard, so we don't know any different. We use dead soft on wire sculpture using no tools except for cutters. I love the pendant and the Chevron at the end, just finishes the piece. Keep the goodness coming. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒🤗

      Thank you! Oh wow, you and your wife must have very strong hands to be working only in half hard!

      @@OxanaCrafts Now it is harder to work with dead soft because we over compensate. Keep the goodness coming.

    I was happy to try this technique. My wire wrap lessons were with half hard wire. My vision is poor so I have difficulty with seeing the flat side versus the curve with half round wire but completed the wrap on my second try. I am new to dead soft, so I am excited to try your tutorials.

      You will find the dead soft so nice and flexible by comparison, I love working with dead soft wire

    Hi Oxana, I sincerely hope you are doing well!!.💙. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of how to work with a different strength wire, very useful information. Very nice pendant, love your stone. 🙏🏼🌹

    I sure hope you're feeling better and better each day. This is so beautiful! I *want* to say thank you, especially for doing this while you're under the weather, but I don't want to encourage such reckless behavior. 😆 Screw it, THANK YOU, OXANA! 💜 Feel better, girl!

    Thank you Oxana for a lovely tutorial and I hope you feel better soon, I am not so young these days but love the look of half round wire to bind wires together, unfortunately I have difficulty seeing the flat side. What is the heaviest gauge I could use without it looking too clumpy but easier to identify which side is which please xxx

      Thank you! I am thinking 18 gauge half round. It is a bit on the thicker side but ive used it before and it works

    Thx Oxana, for showing us how to work with the half hard wire. I didn't reize there was that much of a difference between the two, because I've really only worked with the soft wire. Do you find that there is a difference in quality of the durability of the pendant making it out of the half hard wire? I love this style of pendant, nicely done.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not had issues with the dead soft pendants not being durable enough, but I also wear all my jewellery with care so that could be the reason I have not had issues. The half-hard would definitely be more durable, more similar to a typical soldered jewellery piece like they sell in stores.

    So very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent. Is it more difficult to use 22 gauge half round half hard than half round dead soft for doing the weaving? That’s what I found. Thank you.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      the half hard will be firmer, but because you are just wrapping it around and around it is not too bad, you can also use your pliers to help push it around

    This was a great video as showed the "struggles" and how to overcome them. What grit/sanding pad do you use to take out the tool marks? I don't typically oxidize so need to take them out at the end. Can you advise if the sand pad is a special brand or supplier? Thanks so much.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The sandpaper I have I got from Home Depot back when I was living in US. It says P320 on it, so I am guessing that is the grit of it.

    Great video ! I really enjoy watching your tutorials. I hope you don’t mind me asking but I am curious to know what half hard sterling silver wire is like ? I have ordered soft sterling silver and it feels a bit flimsy and was wondering if half hard would be better ? Hope you are well and take care :)

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The only half hard silver I've used in 24 gauge square, it was quite thin so easy to bend and work with, but I'm not sure how the thicker gauges would feel

  • @reaganwaite9101

    Can I use half hard in place of tutorials that only use dead soft for their cabochon wrapping? I was only taught using half hard and I am beginning to wrap higher end stones and cabs. I don’t like how easily dead soft manipulates and moves.

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost always use dead-soft, but I am sure you can use half-hard instead, it would be just a bit harder :)

    I’ve also only bought gold and silver from RioGrande (where I get most of my supplies), but I have been out of practice and want to ease back into wrapping using copper to practice. Is there a cheaper place to buy half hard copper wire for practicing? What is the best place to look?

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rio Grande is where I buy all my wire, I think they are the cheapest and I like that I can buy in bulk from them.

    OMG. I love this so much! Thank you! Are you having trouble finding silver-filled wire where you are? Rio grande in the U.S.A. has stopped selling it, and it's seriously marshin' my mellow. lol

    • @OxanaCrafts
      @OxanaCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hadn't used it in so long I totally didn't realise they stopped selling it! I wonder why. I use solid sterling silver, it works out only ever so slightly more per piece.
