Hold yer piehole , history & anyone that KNEW Jay , would agree he was concentrated on making that sonically deadass room , sound great. I’m sure not every band rearranged the space like Jay did that day. 🥧
Thanks for all the comments everyone. This was our little indie store and we had to move some seriously heavy CD bins across carpet to try to give the band some more room to play. The store only lasted a few years after this before it closed, but we sure did have some great in-stores....from Sarah McLachlan to Lush to Sloan to The Posies.
Jay has been my North Star for a long time, regarding the way a man might spend his life making art, continually finding and sharing himself And yes, that voice that seems to sing the soul of *everyman* certainly helps
Sorry I can't agree. He was a great anchor for Being There & YHFT when they get slushy/noisey because his style was so rote. Definitely great. In ensemble. During that period. But Tweedy knows how to manage his line-up to keep his songwriting propelled
AM / Being There / YHFT would not sound or be what they were without Bennett. Not saying Wilco was better or worse without him, but they definitely changed.
I miss this store. I spent hundreds of dollars on cds and records every weekend in Royal Oak back in the day. I cherish every moment spent at Repeat The Beat. Still have every cd and record bought from them. 😢
God, I miss this store and the 90's. This place was right down the street from where I grew up. I wish I could go back to those days. I was 14 and about to begin 8th grade at Keller Jr. High. I miss old Royal Oak. Thank you for posting this!
Hey drummer , I used to go there every Sunday and engage in diatribes with Tim police from WDET. Those mom and pop record stores were like digging for gold.
thanks to you,for recording this for everyone ! "a.m." is one of my best favorite record of wilco. and the atomosphere here so warmfull is now we've been missing, after corona
Saw their 2nd show ever @ Mississippi Nights in STL. We followed them around all through the Being There tour. So much fun!!! I still think that was Wilco at their best
LOL by 1995 we had the handheld cams with the flip-out viewing screens! Despite how archaic the technology was, I feel like we had it a lot better back then. Things were much simpler and living in the moment was so much easier.
This was great! Glad I found it… I had no idea about Wilco in 95’.. I love the “home video” look, and the classic home town record shop.. Feels good… Thanks for posting!!
I'll always prefer pre-YHF Wilco. I saw them several times in the late 90s, small venues, $20 ticket or whatever, standing in front of Jeff/Jay the whole show. I sure do miss that time. One of the best shows was at The Vogue in Indy. The Old 97s opened up. Saw them a bunch back in the day, too. Possibly the best concert I ever went to in my life was the Old 97s at the Southgate House in Newport, KY, ca. 2004. Incredible.
Im listening to this with headphones the bass keeps cutting in and out, where there problems with his amp in the room or is it just too low a frequency for the camera to pick up? I noticed it first when the soundman is doing something with the monitor to the right of the screen. Still sounds good im just a nerd lol.
This is one of my favorite bands, I've seen them play live a number of times. Including an opening set from the mid 90's. Which I dismissed as boring. This is great to see but it actually reminded me of how much better they grew into being and of that unfavorable first impression.
I’m liking immediately any comments about how great genius Jay was. Even after being kicked out he maintained poise of an elegant sportsman.
He was so clearly loaded all the time, he needed to leave so Wilco could become the amazing band it is today
Hold yer piehole , history & anyone that KNEW Jay , would agree he was concentrated on making that sonically deadass room , sound great. I’m sure not every band rearranged the space like Jay did that day. 🥧
jeff has one of the most naturally soothing voices i've ever heard

Do you have any videos of those other in-stores ?
Those are some great in-stores. Thanks for your contribution to our culture.
Lots of great memories in that shop. Thanks for sharing.
I know I am pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to stream new series online?
@Harley Creed i use FlixZone. You can find it on google =)
Jeff Tweedy has been writing songs that are great forever.
RIP Jay.
I sure miss the days of record store gigs.
Holy Jeez this is like finding a lost treasure
More like a sunken treasure
@@davidmckelvey2601 dammit I was gonna say that
So young. I'll always love Wilco. RIP Jay
RIP Jay
I thought he is still alive.
I'm really glad this footage exists.
Jay has been my North Star for a long time, regarding the way a man might spend his life making art, continually finding and sharing himself
And yes, that voice that seems to sing the soul of *everyman* certainly helps
Jay's playing on I Must Be High really makes that song.
my grandfather has a wilco tattoo. he told mento check these guys out
Wonderful. Look at those sweet, young faces on Jeff and John!
While still a great band, this is my fave wilco lineup...Bennett was a monster on guitar...RIP Jay
Yup, agree. Jay was the best.
Sorry I can't agree. He was a great anchor for Being There & YHFT when they get slushy/noisey because his style was so rote. Definitely great. In ensemble. During that period. But Tweedy knows how to manage his line-up to keep his songwriting propelled
Nels Cline is ok
AM / Being There / YHFT would not sound or be what they were without Bennett. Not saying Wilco was better or worse without him, but they definitely changed.
Jay Bennett did not play on AM. Brian Henneman, front man for the Bottle Rockets was on guitar. But I do agree about the other two great great albums.
Jeff looks so nostalgic and beautiful at the same time.
He looks exactly like his kid Sam.
This is the band I fell in love with so many years ago.
I wish I could write like that , even when he was stoned and anxiety/ stage fright, he always landed a glimmer.
I miss this store. I spent hundreds of dollars on cds and records every weekend in Royal Oak back in the day. I cherish every moment spent at Repeat The Beat. Still have every cd and record bought from them. 😢
We love you Jay!!!!may You continue to rest!❤
I do love how Wilco has progressed through the years, but this gives me nostalgic feels...
That cute young Jeff Tweedy. But now we have sweet older Jeff Tweedy.
Amazing how much EVERYTHING has changed since 1995.
12:35 wilco briefly playing Black Sabbath made me very happy
God, I miss this store and the 90's. This place was right down the street from where I grew up. I wish I could go back to those days. I was 14 and about to begin 8th grade at Keller Jr. High. I miss old Royal Oak. Thank you for posting this!
Was this the store at Main and 4th? It's been too long and I can't always get the details right anymore.
Hey drummer , I used to go there every Sunday and engage in diatribes with Tim police from WDET. Those mom and pop record stores were like digging for gold.
Me too brother, I was there every Sunday and talked music 🎶 and shows with Tim Pulice, that was a magical time.
Wow, what an incredible time capsule! And the sound quality is really great considering the date and the setting! Thanks so much for sharing.
Totally miss this store!!! Royal oak had a few record stores back then but this one was the best. So bummed I missed this when it happened!!!
ha! love the black sabbath at 12:36. Love this band, no matter what incarnation
thanks to you,for recording this for everyone ! "a.m." is
one of my best favorite record
of wilco.
and the atomosphere here so
warmfull is now we've been
missing, after corona
This is a great slice of 1995!
Thanks for posting. Wilco wasn’t the same after Jay.
Wow what amazing footage. Cant stop listening to casino queen
They had to play in the middle of the aisle? That's hilarious. Great performance.
Saw their 2nd show ever @ Mississippi Nights in STL. We followed them around all through the Being There tour. So much fun!!! I still think that was Wilco at their best
Been with them since this album….great post. Thanks
Thanks Richard. If you listen to Box of Letters you can just tell these guys were destined for greatness. Americana rock at its infancy and best.
I worked in the Plymouth store and missed this great in-store.
A.M. still my favorite Wilco album.
Amazing to think this is almost 30 years ago now...
Someone had to carry a 10 pound home video camera to record this magic.
LOL by 1995 we had the handheld cams with the flip-out viewing screens! Despite how archaic the technology was, I feel like we had it a lot better back then. Things were much simpler and living in the moment was so much easier.
Can't believe it's been almost 30 years ago...
I was there!
WOW ! Glad I stumble on this. Love Wilco / Jeff Tweedy. Thanks for the post. :-)
Wilco will love you baby
This was SO FUN to watch, spent last 30 min reflecting. Grateful for the post!
This is one of the best gems on the internet.
Do bands pay dues like this anymore?
The beauty of youth. Love this - thanks for the upload. ❤️
I love the labels ‘pop/rock’ beneath them.
This was great!
Glad I found it…
I had no idea about Wilco in 95’..
I love the “home video” look, and the classic home town record shop..
Feels good…
Thanks for posting!!
Thanks
I used to love going to this store.
This is gold. Thanks for uploading it!
So great
OMG BABY WILCO!
This is so awesome
Thanks for posting this. I am sure if I had been a few years older in 1995 I would have been there. Glad to see it now though.
i wish that i coud be there,
your CD shop..
Wilco ❤️❤️
Awesome! Thanks for posting, made my day.
This was great. Very loose and laid back. 👋
some good footage right there now
Appreciate this a great deal. Cheers!
ya just absolutely legend!
What a great, intimate performance. Thank you for uploading!
Used to get tapes there all the time
So, so good.
Always love wilco❤️
Great recording. Thx!!

LOVE it !!!!!
I thought it was Spencer Tweedy in the thumbnail, he and his dad look so alike!
I wonder what ever happened to the original drummer?
Ken has a studio and does recording in Nashville now
Wow. I'm old...
Wow
❤️
way cool
Maginifence
pop rock
Jeff is still a baby here
He was in his late 20s here.
and featuring Kenny Coomer as The Hedgehog Ron Jeremy
Im listening to this with headphones the bass keeps cutting in and out, where there problems with his amp in the room or is it just too low a frequency for the camera to pick up?
I noticed it first when the soundman is doing something with the monitor to the right of the screen. Still sounds good im just a nerd lol.

Jeff looks like the kid from almost famous and wrist cutters
Thought that too.lol
Patrick fuget
Those signs in front of them should say Dad/Rock
16:19
most people play electric but I prefer the acoustic guirar
Is Jay playing a B bender guitar?
jeff is sooo cute
Tweedy gotta change up the tempo a bit but solid performance
Who is playing banjo here?
Max Johnston, I think.
Tweedy looks so young here. Don't do drugs kids.
David McKelvey you mean, don't grow old.
I mean,,,,,,,the dudes over 50. Im 45 and I wasn't even old enough to drink when they did this concert.
He looks young because he was young.
When Jeff dismissed Ken and Jay, Wilco lost it's soul.
