"If it ain't broke fix it til it is!" Love it Your videos are informative and so helpful. I'm about to redo the floor of my boat, and your videos on that subject have kept me now watching any of your videos. I'll be in touch with questions about re-fiberglassing my boat floor, if that's cool wit you daddy-o! Keep up the great work!
After being inspired by your former video on making a frame for my cover, I attempted the same. I used 1inch to 3/4 inch tee on the sides with 3/4 inch schedule 40 pipe across the top hoop. I made 4 of these hoops for a 12 foot boat. The tension of these hoops was strong enough that no longitudinal bracing was necessary. I believe the pvc conduit you are using is smaller and doesn't fit as tightly in the tee. Thanks for the ideas.
Very good sir! I will be doing this very soon. My suggestion would be to bend one to the nose and one to the rear and you would have the perfect system.
That's is 100% better I new it was going to work by cutting them in the centers and connecting them you want till they are glued up how strong it will be. For you all that get a lot of snow on the pipe next to the 4way tea you can put a 3way tea and go from the pipe to the boat floor with a piece of pipe to hold the weight of the snow.
What pvc ratchet cutter were you using in the video? I've been looking on-line for something to keep the water from pooling on my utility trailer. The types that are out there have fiberglass bows that cause slivers, crack, collapse or pull out. Your idea is perfect for what I need to accomplish. Thanks for the great ideas and video. HI Im in Canada where do they make heated chambers for the CVC pipe to bend? Looking for a scooter cover snow killed my rods on the cycleshell 2 Xmasses ago and I am looking at your brilliant creation. BRAVO I am a subscriber for life. THANKS
I did the same and used a 45 on the front rib to the bow easing the line, been using it for years and works great shedding snow. Also, for long term, hang water filled plastic bottles versus tieing down to minimize stress from any weight buildup.
Great project ! I guess heat-induced bending of the conduit could easily be done after assembly using a hand held electric paint stripper ... or even your wife's hair dryer gun.
I’d like to know what size boat that is and what size cover you got (I’ve got a 14’ and want to do the same frame idea), would be nice to know the cover size
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina I'll be watching for it. I love your channel and the video content you put out. I've wrenched on cars/trucks for years but not much on small or marine engines. That all changed when I started watching your channel. I'm not intimidated by them anymore. Thank you!
I tried this before I saw your video and broke a couple of + pieces. I ended up using a heat gun to pre-bend the cross pipes and even threw some pipe clamps over the + ends to shore them up. I think I should have used larger diameter than 3/4" and used 90° or (2) 45° angled pieces on top. I dont have a 3D printer so I have to work with hardware store stock.
could you do one straight one off the front tee to the bow and get rid of the seat? And, didn't you use white pvc? It is undercover so the uv wouldn't get to it anyway.
How could I get an Itemized parts list for your new and improved PVC Skeleton? Size of the Side Tees, and where did you get the Four-way tees? and the schedule 40 PVC is it 3/4 or 1"
Like this more every time I see it. I would be interested to see how it looks all glued up. Wondering how it’s going to be trying to get the frame work back on the boat when it’s one glued up assembly?
Dry fit your fittings together and use a magic marker to locate each piece by marking the fitting and the pipe then when you glue just line up the marks.
You can just use a regular tee for the end braces as you are not putting a PVC to the front or back. White sch. 40 will work also. Also just use your tape line to find the middle of rack brace and cut it there for the four way tee or for the regular three way tee. Also you can drill a hole in the tees and the cross members and use a large key to hold them together, one like you put in your hitch pin.
Just exactly what I was looking for. I really appreciate you posting this. Can you please confirm if this is grey sch 40 Conduit or white pvc? Lastly is it 1" or 1 1/2"? Thanks very much and look forward to hearing back!!!!
Why don't you preheat the schedule 40, put a bend in it, then put the 4-way T on. Next take the T's and use them between the gunwales and the 4-way T's making a horizontal rib. Giving more support for the cover.
Best video I've watched so far. Very informative as well as well as entertaining. Good job, good job.

Snow and ice load has crushed every pvc frame around here!

Nice can u send me material list so I can make one not sure what style brackets that you used for the rails thanks great video
I used my heat gun to ease the bending and once it cooled off retained the shape and rock solid. I used white PCV 1'' schedule 40.
Nice and strong, excellent

Your improvement was my exact thought using a T would make it better
michel that looks great now

"Better work, or I just screwed up $16 of pipe" Oh ye of little faith! Brother, I wrote this before you finished, I got all the faith in you!
I'm glad you have the confidence in me Gene, thanks for watching and for the kind words
I re-did mine so the cross bars were between the straps helped with sagging
Looking good, great improvement!
Thanks! Keep on keepin on. What the will I do next.
Hi
If you didn't want to glue it.
You could put self tapping screws on the bottom of each 4 way connection to lock them in place .
You certain could. Thanks for watching
I think I’m going to the store now 👍
Way to go.
I tried doing relatively the same thing, and ended up making a long saw horse for my boat. It’s ridgid, easy to remove, and keeps the cover tented up.
Right on, thanks for watching

Any update on how it held up in the snow?
I like that a lot but I want to see how well it handles the snow load with those t's.
should get some winter shot in about 4 months

I find the 3D printed stuff for outdoor use is not the slick trick I though it would be. thanks for watching

I don't have one, Just sketch out your plan then count up the joints you need.

just like it does when it's not glued. I demoed in the video.

Love the videos. Did you give up on the 3D printing
Not at all, It's more of a winter thing for me. More 3D Printing things coming this winter for sure.
@@Michaelsbackyardmarina More 3d content please! I've enjoyed watching your upgrades and fusion 360 videos
Also, on the broken bolt have you ever used a left hand drill bit?
