Maybe but DW3 had its own cheesy charm to it though. You can't help yourself but laugh at lines like "you flaming idiots" or "feel the power of my magic".
I miss when Guan Du was as hard as this. No matter who you are in this stage you will struggle. Whilst Xiahou Dun doesn't struggle immediately, he does however has the responsibility of bailing everyone else out. Even Wu Chao doesn't tip the tides in your favour, all it does is delay the inevitable since you are still going to need to rescue Cao Cao and Dian Wei.
I remember playing this for the first time back in 2001, I played as Dian Wei and I got my ass handed to me during my first run at Guan Du. It was fun as hell and I wish they would allow the upgraded characters (say upgraded to DW5 level) play in DW2 stages because I honestly feel like DW2 had the best combination of stage design and difficulty in the entire series. Its just that playable characters were so limited even compared to what we got in DW3.
If you DW fan you should try this, i played every single DW, this has the best mechanisms, just 10/10, if they would remake it with better graphics it would have been 11/10
That’s the good part, as CAO CAO said, the fights are fought with minds not with bottons. The regeneration system forced you to sweat and try hard to hit the enemy so perfectly to not let the enemy stand up and regenerate. You had to be good and pressing bottons, timing, aiming (turning while stacking hits on enemy) & at strategy all at once. You miss one you had to start over and clock always ticking, you had to watch your lord as well. The DW 2 was the best DW ever made, I played DW3, SW2, DWOrochi1, DW7 & 8 and always go back to DW 2.
@Awhol Lotta Whoopass plus the soldiers counted, I remember in DW 2 soldiers were just savage, they run at you and hit you hard, the ones with full armor sometimes hit you so hard you would think they are generals. Man I miss DW2 so much, but I agree DW Orochi & samurai warriors are my second favorite after DW 2.
this but refined i would buy it instantly. like the overall feeling towards this game for me hasnt changed. it is challenging but i like that the peons do get in the way it requires you not to run in with no thoughts. i wouldnt even mind enemy officers regaining health thing if it wasnt infinite like them having a few items on. the full heals are really dumb in most cases but once in a while it would be fine. also being able to collect and keep a few items you pick up during the battle like in strike force. a targeting system having your bodyguards controllable so that they engage with enemies you are not targeting to keep yourself safe from your little 1v1 or targeting so that you can gang up on officers if need be. there are probably more things that could be made but those are just some random thoughts.
Their health Regain is actually Random in Dw2. In Dw3 it's actually more frequent than Dw2 When the Officers will Musou Charge when away from You( Dw2 Officers rarely do this in Comparison to Dw3 Officers). The Officers actually do drop Swords and Shields when you defeat Them
The voice acting in 2 was better than in 3 lol

Fun fact, the voice actor for Cao Cao is Robert Belgrade, the voice for Alucard from Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.

After ypu beat Musou mode The Levels in Dw2 become Easier and your Character can Ko Enemies in a Few Hits
This was the Hardest Guan Du.( Second Place is the Warriors Orochi 2 Final Battle Version).
Um, did koei do some foreshadowing when the narrator said "warring states"
R.I.P Bodyguards
It is fought with THIS
I always thought that he said *fucked*
I never played this game, but looks very good

I hate the enemy regeneration system. It just drags the fights out way too long.
that's what made it more challenging though. all the new dynasty warriors are too unrealistic with their dragon ball Z like fighting styles.

This Battle was Hard
Dw 5 Empires was a Fair System (the Reviewers don't say this but The Commander doesn't Regenerate Health after you damage them).
Those catapults tho...
Liu Bei unit move if Guan Yu are defeated
Good times
Does guan yu help wei in this battle ?
Yes he does
The true battle is fought with the side of your head?
Wow, Yuan Shao looks really annoying with all those life recoveries.
I cant pass this level
