Playing triplets with your kick drum and ride cymbal like 16 notes is total tony williams....I don't know if you know how cool your ride playing in this song is.. but I do.. fucking brilliant.

I love his style! Not only the way he interpret the riffs and string stuff, but the way he moves his arms and hands around the kit.

I play guitar and bass, but this dude is one of my favorite musicians. He sounds exactly like himself, and there's no mistaking it. That's the epitome of artistry.

Do you have any idea how freaking genius the drum part you made for this song is? It's probably one of my favorite drum lines ever, for real. This is too good!

Dig how the cymbals are panned left and right.

Could you pretty pretty please post Sonic Titan? I’ve been wrapping my brain around your techniques and these videos help put it all together. Plus nerding out watching one of my favorite Bay Area drummers is always the best!

Are you still cutting your cymbals? Sound so unique

Actually no. I did that for many years, I'd have any cracked rides machined down to 17" or 18" hi hats. (even some 17.5") I had a machinist in San Francisco that would do it. It began to be a headache to have them done though, so I switched to a pair of 18" Mediums and they have been fantastic. I did use two older cut ride/hihats in the studio for Marijuanaut's Theme, as having the 24" ride bell sound on the hi hats for the last half of the song was crucial. (left/right dual bells with the hats and main ride) It "works" on the Mediums in a live setting but it's not as cutting.

@@jason_roeder nice, thanks for answering! What about the rest of the set? I've seen some videos in which you seem to be playing a 2002 22" ride? How about crashes?

      @@MrFolloni Two 24" rides, a 22" ride, hats are 18" mediums, and a 20" china.
