Any chance of trying Native American foods
Pemican rocks.
This is a good one. I was just talking to my fiancé recently and we pondered about Native American food!!! Ignorantly, all I could think was corn. So I would love a segment on this.
Yesssssss
This is a great suggestion!
A lot of indigenous food is Mexican too (along with other American countries), so i recommend watching those until they decide to make another video
Nick and Jaime radiating funny uncle and "im so tired of this guy" niece 😂
Jamie and Nick is the combo that I didn't know I needed! Please pair them together again!
FR they are so funny and sweet together😭
Tea eggs usually come out darker than the ones they're eating, should look like the color of coffee.
Lol Jair trying to make Izzy feel bad... girl, Izzy got Filipino in her... high blood or not, we stay eating pork 🤣
When Ash said she studied Mandarin and Chinese culture, I was kinda expecting her pronunciation to be a little better... I obviously didn't expect the tones and stuff to be perfect, but even some of the phonetics were pretty off. No hate though, just a thought I had
Emotional Damage!
I agree.. as a mandarin and Cantonese speaker, her tones are way off considering she said she studied Chinese language and culture
Same!
Never brag things if you have nothing to brag. Right? Hahaha
Me too when she said wany zhihe I was like huuuhhh
As a person from Taiwan, I really don’t think you guys did the tea egg right in Taiwan the egg is much darker in color and there is a very strong tea taste
agreed, that that colouring definitely goes below the "skin" it shouldn't look like a normal hard boiled egg.
It's usually flavourful, you can smell it from faraway. it's boiled and kept on low simmer for hours rather than leaving it in the cold liquid to steep
This is about Chinese food not Taiwanese food
@@teensierkitty4214they eat very similarly
That tea leaf eggs are done wrong. I’ve never had a tea leaf egg that tastes ‘subtle’ and so white in my entire life. After the eggs are boiled, you need to crack it again for the herbal broth to seep in and marinate it. The fact that it’s so white and not entirely light brown is telling.
I was so confused cause the marble egg looks so “egg” and I can barely see the marble…. (A decent marble egg should have a very deep Color in the yolk in atleast….). Seems like I’m not the only person feeling that way😂
Jaime just revealed her life. She wakes up and eats breakfast then goes back to sleep. Then wakes up and eats lunch then goes back to sleep. Then finally eats dinner and goes back to sleep. She has a very relaxing life.
In her past life she was a cat who accidentally saved a baby's life. The reincarnation office had never seen it before so she got bumped up to Person for her next worldly go-around. I will not be taking questions at this time.
@@Frobias you almost have it correct. So she was a dog at first and thus learned to eat everything. Because she eats everything and likes it. But she chased cats so she was reincarnated as a cat to learn a lesson. Then she saved the baby and became a human. Thus she has both a cat and a dog in her. Cat for all the sleeping and dog for all the eating. She is Jaime, the CatDogGirl.
Nick and his American taste buds
😂😂😂😂😂
I need Jamie and Nick paired up in these episodes more often
THANK YOU!
A lot of people thinks that Tanghulu is a snack from Korea or from Japan! So thank you for putting it right! 😍😍
Nick with the jokes😂😂😂😊
The tea egg is so not tea egg. The marinade is supposed to seep into the hard boiled egg and you should see the brown colouration.
Exactly past that skin layer even lol. I’ve had almost completely black tea eggs and those are where it’s at 🥲😆
I dont wanna be that guy but almost everything thats cooked on this show is sooo catered to white tastebuds.
@@ChefRalphVelosoI thought I'm the only one who noticed, what they're eating doesn't look like the food shown at all and ofc they can't completely replicate it because maybe the chef isn't Chinese? Who knows
Jaime is my role model.. wake up, eat and go back to sleep. and there's no way the whole team can stand the smell of stinky tofu and not like durian. (oh there's curry fish balls, squid, octopus, rice noodle that the team should try as well.)
I love Travis--he's always such a delight
It's so much fun watching Jamie eat anything. Her love for food always puts a smile on my face.
someone was definitely not paying attention in Chinese class...
its not great but still understandable same cant be said with a lot of other "chinese speakers"
I think the tea egg isn't marinated properly or for long enough. Many tea eggs I've seen completely change colour even when you open it up and look at the yolk.
The tea eggs I ate were completely different from normal eggs.
Jaime and Nick are so hilarious. Love this pairing😂
The stinky tofu isn’t true stinky tofu if they couldn’t smell it as soon as it came in the room. Also, the tea egg was not made properly. It needs to be marinated until it is a much darker brown color.
some evil should stay in the past
Tea eggs were not made right. If it’s right it would’ve been dark. The egg would’ve been brown and not white.
I think it's because she marinated it cold. Her egg yolks are still soft inside. Traditional tea eggs are boiled in the special broth so that it seeps in but the yolk would be overdone by then.
@@wenliuehkueh3549 yeah that's the problem. She made them like japanese marinated eggs, which are peeled first then marinated. Soy sauce eggs are boiled for at least an hour in the 'marinade', that's why the yolk has turned greenish in the videoo explaining them beforehand.
Nick giving off dad energy 🤣🤣
🙄studied Mandarin in College and then mispronouncing the Chinese words😅
My family is from Taiwan even though I was born in the States, and my mom makes tea eggs for me and my brother all the time. We like the flavor heavy, so our tea eggs are darker than that. I remember when we're out in Taiwan, and we wanted to buy tea eggs we also avoid the ones that look lighter and get the ones with the darker patterns and overall color because those were the ones with the heavier tastes.
My mom and dad also really really likes stinky tofu, but I don't like it. This is very interesting to watch. Since I spent the majority of my time in the States, I do miss Chinese street food sometimes. Simply Chinese food is easier to come by while Chinese street food is harder to find.
Yes!! I love cong you bing, it is so tasty!!!! You pronounced the name wrong, btw. It's not with a hard "k" sound, more like "ts-" sound.
You can honestly make several episodes doing Chinese street food because there's so many.
that tea egg was not fully marinated..... it supposed to be brown...... they are literally just eating hard boiled egg and got gaslighted to think it taste different
Jair and Izzy my fav pairing along with nick and Jaime 😂😂 this video is hilarious
You can tell Izzy really loves being in any food video! She's living the American dream! 🎉🎉🥲
I think the hard boiled eggs weren't cracked enough before boiled/marinated in the tea egg soup so the marinate didn't seep in/soak into the egg. If made right they should be quite dark brown in colour
It's a “g" not a “y" so Wang Zhihe. Also there are two types of stinky tofu, the street food kind and the other kind is used as a condiment. He was responsible for the condiment type.
I love how excited Jaime gets. Nick cracks me up.
As a Chinese person, the mispronunciation of the Chinese names make me cringe at how off it is. But TBH it is very hard to get the nuances and proper pronunciations of the language if you don't really speak it so I'll give them a pass.
I never would have thought that Nicholas would turn into my favourite reactor (besides Benison of course) 😁 I enjoy his personality so much!
As sb from HongKong, I’ve never seen such a white tea egg
Right?
She tried, though.
Does no one realize that tanghulu is just like candy apples? Not caramel apples but the red candy apples.
well if they use strawberries and grapes, kinda yea, but Tanghulu is originally made with hawthorn berries and actually has a sweet and sour taste! Very different from the ones in the video
@@cakeh6419 now that sounds delicious
ya idk why they picked strawberries and grapes. honestly hawthorn berries is pretty sour, when i was lil i just eat the candy shell and leave the berries lol. orange is the best tang hulu imo
12:09 Nick & Jaimie might be the most entertaining pair on this whole channel. Thank you for listening to what the people want🫡
Respectfully, I kind of wish the host didn't say she studied Mandarin because her pronunciation was really iffy and the tones were all wrong. It would have been easier to let slide if she didn't mention studying Mandarin. But, then again we don't know how many classes she took. Could have been just one semester's worth.
Yeah it’s like she didn’t actually study and was reading it off the pinyin
Exactly!!
It's mad bad
Or maybe it’s been a while since she studied? Ash doesn’t seem like she’s fresh out of college so it would make sense that’s she isn’t necessarily the best at it. I studied french in college… I graduated college 8 years ago though so my french pronunciations are not as good as they used to be.
@TheeJadeHummingbird not as go9d and bad a 2 different things... the way she said the name for the guy that made stinky tofu was terrible. Anyone who had so e lessons would do better...he'll I think people that enjoy Chinese shows but don't speak mandarin could have done better
It's great to see more Chinese food other than Fried rice, egg rolls and chow mein.
5:49 Did Izzy just flip off the camera? 😂
Traditional chinese tang hu lu is not made strawberry and graps and oranges and stuff it is made with Shānzhā or hawthorn
Well, how will they get that? Even Baijiu is hard to find in USA.
Already decades ago there were strawberry and other fruits ones tanghulu in China
I’ve seen grapes and strawberry ones and even tomato ones in china
as a maalaysian chinese, seeing the reactors eating food that are common to us is just so entertaining
These Chinese street foods look delicious, especially the Jianbing - (beijing pancake), Tanghulu - (fruits dipped in caramel sugar syrup), Roujamo - (Chinese burger), Cong You Bing - (Deep fried scallion pancake) and the Reganmian - (Hot Dry noodles).
Izzy’s face😂 15:45
You didn’t make the stinky tofu, smelly enough. And the tea egg isn’t brown enough to taste the tea! Go to 7-eleven in Taiwan and they have great tea eggs.
Thank you for such a nice video of an American trying Chinese street food for the first time 👍
Stinky tofu actually differs by area. In northern China its a soup for example. In the Yunnan area, where I lived for a number of years, its barbecued. They make squares of it that are about an an inch by an inch, then its grilled with a bit of salt. It smells like dirty gym socks but its surprisingly tasty. Those tea eggs don't look like they marinated enough honestly, or the brine wasn't strong enough. The ones you get in China are a darker color and have a pretty strong flavor (though that does vary)
Think the tea egg hasn't been cooked long enough. The tea eggs here in SEA look way darker than that...almost dark brown.
Yeah I agree. Even when we make it in the US, it isn't that light of a color. Maybe marinate for longer
Nick is goofy and love his laugh 😂
"is it an egg? No" "it's a boiled egg" 😂
The tea egg was definitely not done right.... it colour is way too light
I mean theyre not authentic, get over it.
@@KameraKiss and that means they get the wrong idea about the food thinking that it's just a hard boiled egg with very little to no tea flavour.
@@shwee1855 they probably wont get to ever try the authentic version then. Its all fun and games, nobody is insulting anyones culture.
@@KameraKiss I think you're reading too much into what I said, I didn't think anywhere beyond the fact that the egg wasn't done right. No culture or whatever was involved 😅
@@shwee1855 but who cares it wasn’t done right?
Nick and Jamie are too funny together
i don't think the reganmian was made correctly. the noodles look too mushy, even with sauce they aren't supposed to break off like that😅 and the tea eggs are also way too light in color, the shells probably weren't cracked enough - the flavor should come through in the first bite, and definitely shouldn't taste like a normal hard boiled egg!
The way Jair eat Tanghulu drive me crazy 😂
Jamie's reactions are always the most adorable...Golden Retriever vibes
Jaxon: "I thought Pizza was invented in America"......Everyone around him and watching....."Oh bless your heart you sweet summer child"
Did nobody catch what he said afterwards, that’s he’s the Italian and can get away with it? He’s basically making fun of Americans who think they invented everything.
@@nottheoneyourelookingfor0504 I don't think he was intentionally making fun of Americans. I think he was embarrassed and was trying to joke away what he said after he realized what he said
@@notsosilentprotag oh no he was definitely making fun of the muricans.
@@nottheoneyourelookingfor0504Nah bro he was embarrassed. He was definitely trying to do damage control.
Nope he wasn't. He has said that joke a few times already.
Love how Jamie lights up in every dish she was served. And the reaction makes me wanna taste those dishes
Nick is always gonna make any video so much better...
Sorry, Ash’s pronunciation is pretty off😅
There are variations of all the food that appeared depending on the region and habit of each family that makes them
Please at least do part 2 and 3😅
Part 2 and 3 then please change her.😂
Maybe the tea egg should be marinated for a longer time or more cracked and submerged, the ones that I buy in China or my mum makes are usually brown on the surface of the white and it has a tea and soy flavor infused into it. Those flavors can be tasted from the first bite until the last. For the scallion pancakes, the sauce is usually not needed since usually, the process mixes the scallion filling with quite some salt, and a little MSG before it is kneaded into those individual dough pieces that have already quite some oil mix into it. Then they stretch those individual dough pieces one by one until a long oval shape before a big dollop of lard is spread onto the dough, Knead the dough piece hard and fast to combine every inch of the lard into that dough. Then it is shaped into a ball by hand squished into the frypan with a flat circular spatula, and shallowly fried till golden-brown before it is poped into a coal-fueled drum with extremely high temperature, to crispify the skin of the pancake and make it less oily.
Yeah, she definitely needs to boil the cracked eggs in the marinade then let them sit. And crack the everloving hell out of them.
“I can watch so many hours of people eating this” (this meaning the tanghulu) and me too! Oh my gosh the crunch is the best part!
I have to replay Ash greeting because it sound off and the rest of the video. They could easily invite a Chinese influencer or react or guest to do the pronunciation like they did with Spain video with Izzy.
😂 so awful. She shoudn’t have said that she studied Mandarin😂
I mean the eggs😅don't seem marinated long enough though
I’m convinced that Jaxon just hates everything
Have you seen him shit on everything he's ever tried or are you just reaching??? 🤔
Dude is eating a 2000 years old food and asks if they also put mustard and ketchup on it!!!!!
He was joking 😭
I've been watching a channel for a while and I don't recall ever seeing a video of the reactors trying durian. I just tried durian candy for the first time and would absolutely LOVE seeing the reactors try it!! Love your vids!!
They feed it to them in a lot of the punishments. But ... would like to see more of it. I want to try it myself.
The tea egg should be cracked more :( the yolk should be like a blue-ish brown-ish colour from getting steeped
I’m craving some scallion pancakes and tea eggs right now. The craving’s so intense that I might actually just make it myself
dude Nick has to be the funniest member on this channel.
0:32 That hug was adorable 😊 It's like big brother & little brother 😄
You guys should really check out the dimsum and dumplings (soup, dry or pan fried) and baozi (buns with fillings)
Also try the many different noodles like luosifen, beef noodles.
Have a whole episode of eating dongbei and sze chuan cuisine (if u love spicy and stronger flavoured foods)
Chinese hotpot and Chinese bbq.
There are alot of things yet to be tried y'all
Izzy with the tanghulu: “Han hy hi ha Han huhu” ( in the mic)😂😂😂😂
Pretty sure no surename in Mandarin Chinese should be spelled as Wany😂 maybe she means Wang? Wany does not make any sense to me. Also pretty sure that is not the case in Cantonese. Maybe Hakka?
All of a sudden, I realized who she was talking about- 王致和 read as Wang’ Zhi’ He. And yes, he probably invented fermented Tofu but not this kind…the kind of fermented tofu Wang invited is soft spreadable. Sometime immersed in sesame oil. Used as spread / sauce. They are NOT the same thing. NO
Im positive no dialect is wany neither. How did the host NOT realize that typo since she’s studied Chinese before. Not to mention, her “congyoubing” pronunciation is apparent that she didn’t really study Chinese
Nick I with you I'd ask for a sauce to put on the burger. Maybe spicy mustard or chilli sauce
They should try the Tea egg in other countries, it’s way darker than that. They probably didnt cook in the soup for hours so it’s tasteless
i love tea eggs! I dont think you guys cracked the egg enough so thats probably why it was so subtle
I'm absolutely surprised there was no sort of dumpling/bun or shaokao (Chinese BBQ skewers) included in this list for them to try.
jamie's and jaxon's hair tho fireeeee hahaha
the tea egg does not look properly marinated, it should take savoy and flavorful, the whole egg white should turn to brown
Isn't that a century egg?
Waiting for the day they will try Romanian food. I really wanna see how they would react to slănină with onion 😂
*At **5:50** did Izzy Iman FLIP OFF Chef Ash!?*
I love nicks laugh!!!
SAME. Reminds me of a past Reactor named Jeremiah. They both have hearty laughs.
I’d love to see Sharon’s reaction
All I could think was “I need a side of rice and chili oil”.
When I was travelling in Malaysia I was at a market, and what I mistook for the smell of sewerage was actually a stinky tofu stand which was about 50 meters away. I don't think this tofu was quite stinky enough by Chinese standards lol.
Usually the eggs are darker and have a more pungent flavor
As he asked for Ketchup or Mayo the answer of the two girls was soo funny ;) They said: THATS SOOO AMERICAN
Jamie and Nick, wonderful duo lol
Could you please do traditional South African ❤
People Vs Food, This made me laugh so much! Thanks for sharing!
Do Malay food soon please , not specifically Malaysia but Malay in general (there's malay in singapore too).
Eg of food
- Mee Rebus
- Mee Siam
- Lontong
- Ayam Masak Merah
Desert
- Bubur Terigu
- Kuih Puteri Salat
Yes!
Will definitely be HOPING for an eventual part 2 PLEASE 🥺🤞🥺🙏?
nice to see you my loved chwf ASH LOVE YOU FROM PHILIPPINES
Then I love that they put Jamie and Nicholas together, it’s like the drunk vs high episode on pvf chef all over again!
0:32 Bro this hug though thats me and cousin any time in anticipation for something delicious😂😋
2:23 typo from scriptwriter probably, it’s Wang Zhihe not Wany Zhihe.
The pronunciations💀
I miss eating cong you bing . I use to eat it all the time as a kid and in my twenties. My grandma and my aunts always made it and gave us them in batches to freeze and pan fry later.
8:06 - Love Nick's comment. 😂 But like can I get some ketchup? 😅 Tobasco haha
Jaxon and Travis holding each other was adorable
Izzy's laugh always gets me😆
