- We must be insane, my family of six grab our backpacks and head into the more remote and iconic parts of Australia. We'll be travelling over 11,000 kilometers exploring the outback and then heading as far north as Cairns in our old landcruiser with 630,000klms on the dash. We'll be visiting some iconic areas, the Great Barrier reef, Coober Pedy, The Whitsundays, Fraser Island and more. Will the old cruiser make it round? Of coarse it will!! We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did.

Ok so the catamaran was kinda cheating on the minimalist living phrase, I’ve never spent that much on a holiday ever but our boys are growing up fast and there’s not to many trips as a whole gang left I doubt. Anyhow’s it left us wanting to sell up everything, buy a boat and hit the seas. Luckily you guys still need prospecting content right?? We are open to new ideas tho 😁

A mate of mine does 6mths up north on a cat then comes back to Melbourne and works for 6mths. Another couple yrs and he’ll move up permanently.

A future trip to Cairns by air? A short-term Qld gold and gems licence, as Cairns were made to service the inland gold and gems settlements not far from the town, & can sell what you find! (You'd found Paronella Park, you'll research the gem and gold-rush places easily... All the best to you and the family, hi to Rob, take him and his lady too!)

We have a daughter and hubby and 2 kiddos who sold everything and are traveling the US! They’ve been on the road for over 3 years now and have no intention on stopping! I’ve got to fly in and join them in many adventures in this great country! They want ti buy a catamaran when the kids are bigger and sail the seas! We shall see! I’m enjoying your videos! What an amazing adventure as a family. Spot on with thinking the older ones will soon want to spread their wings so, this was the right time. Go with your gut feeling buddy, all must be feeling the same though, just don’t rush in I say, do a reality list of living costs, boat docks charge more then a pump on a road for fuel etc,etc. One must follow their dreams, but when not alone, must consider all involved. Thanks for the short vacation!! I nearly cried because of the beauty of the ocean and fish. This Pisces is happy to have seen this. I’m always amazed how you can go that deep with just a snorkel. I don’t know how you do it.
I’ve spent a lot of time underwater mate I think my lungs are a bit freaky big to for some reason
My brother lived in Gold Coast for a year and I spent a little time travelling along the coast up in Queensland. Up around Cairns was beauty. I loved Fraser Island! Champagne pools and driving the beach.
What a great holiday the kids won't forget that in a hurry
Bloody good trip, mate. Australia is such a large spectacular country, I don’t understand why people bust their chops going overseas to travel when there’s so much to see here in our own country.
Talking about the snorkeling, it is a whole other world down there. I dive and I am a big fan of Miller Wilson for years (his channel brought me here) and I have been pestering Miller to get dive certified because it is the closest thing to being weightless in outer space and it is the closest thing to being on another planet or world with the wild diversity of plant and animal life. It will give Miller an endless supply of new things to explore. Cheers mate

Fantastic video. Before we moved to Tassie 7 years ago we lived in Hervey Bay and visited Fraser often. It was nice to see our old home again. Hervey Bay is known as the whale watching capital.

That looked like a great road trip! Australia sure is a BIG country! 11,000km is no small feat! I remember walking around the exact same sinkhole in Mount Gambier during a visit about 6 years ago. Magical place! I'll be moving to Oz full time shortly and am looking forward to exploring around the place!

In 1997, I went to Keppel Island, what an amazing place. Did a scuba dive, the fish and coral was just amazing. Saw the biggest Turtle I have ever seen . Must have been as big as me. Here in the UK we have nothing that comes close.
The turtles are awesome
Watching the lads fishing reminded me of when I went, did a days charter fishing from Brisbane. It’s great fishing over there, that’s for sure.

Still see quite a few Prados (same model as yours but not as well kept) in remote communities in QLD, NT and WA. Their panels are all bent, they rattle and squeak but the bloody things just keep on going! It’s a credit to them, fantastic vehicles 👌🏼
I had a 3L 1995 on 35" tires and it had 700.000 on it and it was still going! Had the chassis fixed a bit as we put salt on some of the roads here during winther sold it with 770.000k on it and crazy thing is i was doing 8.5L per 100km during summer and 10L during winther i loved it but it had major repairs coming up so i just let it go to a guy that was going to do all the work him self :)
