I enjoy the vise stuff! I saw your collection on another channel my son recommended. I feel better having only around ten myself. I have a Reed swivel (about 120lbs) that I know the history of since it was new in the 1920s. I use it frequently.
Reeds are one of my favorite vises very well made and good looking vises too! you can actually see the date stamp on the reeds located on the Static jaw or main body lower part of the base 👍🏻
I have the same one, almost - a 340 A, so it has a swivel base (and that makes it even heavier). Mine was outside for a long time and has a lot of rust, but I am slowly and carefully taking it apart. I have not found another one like it; good to see yours and thanks for the video.
Thanks for this video. I am also doing a Parker swivel jaw vise, a 272 which is smaller but still substantial in size. Breaking the swivel jaw loose was a chore and getting it to move freely is also a challenge. Yours works great, I hope to have mine working as smoothly.
Damn, I've got a Parker 375 which looks pretty similar but a 6 3/4" jaw, and I'd love to get swivel jaw action working on it. It was broken at some point in it's life pretty bad, but got a solid braze and weld repair so it's just solid.
Man JM I dig that JB weld idea. I have a little versa vise that's all pitted to hell. Think I'll give that a try sir! Great video as always and take care man
I restored my grandpas Parker 383 1/2 swivel and its amazing, was wondering if you had a 383 1/2 in your collection. Before watching this I never new vises could be so big. very impressive collection I love this kind of stuff
Loved this video. I do have a question though. How the hell did you forge the brass piece for the end of the vise? I would love to see a video on that.
Thank you brotha, My top 3 all time favorite American made vises are 1,Starrett 2,Wilton 3,Parker but any older American made vises are are great quality, im only collecting at this time NFS
Not gonna lie but as a machinist that “milling” operation on that brass casting was a little difficult to watch…😖 but you made it happen the vise looks great!
I just acquired one, and it is rough. someone in the past has welded the swivel. can you tell me where and how the pins that hold the swivel to the base are removed? thanks if you can, or not.
@@Mexashop1 sorry, l don't use those sites. I'll tell you that the pivot jaw was not welded, but they did grind the pin flush with the top of the jaw. thanks for replying.
Hey I just found your channel (new subscriber) because I was researching a broken Columbian vise I just picked up that has the rear swivel jaw. I had never seen one like it before so I had some learning to do! I am sure I will be catching up on your channel for a while. I always like to see people getting their kids some shop time! They need to learn real things and not just what they see on a screen! My boy is twelve and we just set up a shop for him in a storage addition on the back of my shop. Check out some of my videos if you want to see it. Great job on the massive vice restoration! 😁👍😁👍😁

I probably would have brazed the collar holes and redrilled them. Great restoration of a true iconic vise!
Good idea, Yeah i need to get better and not faster 😅👍🏻
Loved the video and great to see you have two helpers on this project. That 2" Lego swivel jaw needs to be on a special stand though.
W K oh man a lego stand👌 I’ll let my boy know, great idea!👍🤛
Another fantastic restoration brother! The LEGO vise is bad ass!

Charles McNichols Sweet bro I would love to see it! Are you on instagram Or Facebook?
My bad - 386A, not 340A
Just filled a Wilton bullet with Bondo (actually a marine product, but similar), and now you're making me regret it. Great job!

Veeps' Garage Thanks bro 💯🤛

Great Job, would have never thought to make a mill like that 👍
Windy Hill Foundry it works😅 not for precision drilling but gets the job done ✅ Thank you✌️

Mike Fyxdt Thank you glad you liked it🤛 moving that vises around gets old fast😅
I have a Parker 240. It's also a 7.5" swivel jaw. It's a through the bench swivel. It's a big boy.

Nice restoration
Thanks for the tips👍🏻
Loved this video. I do have a question though. How the hell did you forge the brass piece for the end of the vise? I would love to see a video on that.
I didn't i had a buddy cast one for me, thank you!👍🏻
How many vises do you have? Never seen so many in one place. loved the video. Thanks.

Hey, I love you’re restoration work! What modern day American made vise (on the small side) would you recommend? Are any of your pieces ever for sale?
Thank you brotha, My top 3 all time favorite American made vises are 1,Starrett 2,Wilton 3,Parker but any older American made vises are are great quality, im only collecting at this time NFS
Mexashop1 - Thank you for the advice. I really love to see the kids get involved in your work. I love doing projects with mine as well.
Wow! Where do you find all these vises?
All over bro😅👍🏻
I am from Canada and I have a hard time finding these vintage vises! Are people hoarding them! Still looking in spring!
I know they are harder to find in Canada but im sure if you look hard enough you’ll get one, good luck!
Not gonna lie but as a machinist that “milling” operation on that brass casting was a little difficult to watch…😖 but you made it happen the vise looks great!
😅😅😅 Yeah im sure but its what i had to work with 👍🏻 thank you!
bro i just discovered your channel. fucking love it! keep it up carnal
PS the jeweling design @ 7:15 is a classic hard to find finish now days
Appreciate it bro thank you 👍🏻🤛
You need a Bridgeport
I really do need one bro👍🏻
Why do you make that pattern on the vise ram? You seem to be making a pattern with that disc sander.... I'm just curious why that is..
Its just for looks 👍🏻 i like it
