I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like it. I genuinely thought it was cute!! But I understand as creators we are our own harshest critics, especially if something doesn’t turn out the way we pictured it would in our heads. Still, I like this look and I admire the hustle!! ❤
I think your outfit looks cute! I totally understand con crunching regret. All of my cosplay regrets have also been easy outfits that I spent money on to quickly slap pieces together in a week or less. So, I've also learned the lesson to never con crunch and that slow crafting means having cosplays that I'm happy with
I really like this video format! And its a shame the cosplay didn't come out in a way you liked, but I thought it looked so much like your inspo miku. It was fun to get to come along on the journey though!! I felt like a bumblebee on your shoulder, very cute & wholesome ♡
Hey for 2 days I think you looked really good, and it doesn’t look rushed in photos. Hopefully next year you’ll have more time and make something you’re more proud of, but I think it’s really good
You look really cute! 😊 My cosplays are all bad 😂 but I never regret them, because I always have fun cosplaying. For me it's about the fun and not if it's perfect 😂❤❤
💙💙 It's rough wearing a cosplay you aren't entirely proud of, I've found it affects my mood and self-confidence the whole day. I hope you still had fun at the meet-up, the photos look so good (including the cursed ones!!). Ever since the Project Voltage Mikus came out I've been dreaming of making some of those costumes, so if you do end up having another Miku day shoot next year I'd be glad to join!
Looking at the nendroid- the skirt is probably a half circle skirt judging by how it swishes out- easy to draft without a pattern and on the fabric itself- plus more flattering. But not bad at all and I think you looked cute. But yes con crunch is bad- at least you were comfortable- my one was so uncomfy that at the end I took a pair of scissors to it.
You're so real for saying you don't like a cosplay you've made :') Either way, I think what you made is incredible! You really know how to visualize and conceptualize pieces I totally understand the sentiment of not liking something we've made! Sometimes I con crunch and it just becomes a "why did I do that to myself?" moment when I wear it for the first time AT the venue
This video was so entertaining, I love the way you edited it. 😆 I understand the feeling of not liking a cosplay. I felt that way about my first Tokyo Mew Mew Mint cosplay, it was a tragedy and totally falling apart at the con! But looking back, I still had fun with my friends so that's what matters I suppose!! And for what it's worth, I'm super impressed you were able to put together the Miku cosplay in such a short time, and I thought it looked super cute!! 💙
Thank you so much for making and posting this video! I feel like this situation is totally relatable (the jumping around aspect especially!) And it's good for new cosplayers to know it's ok to not love everything they make! I'm sorry you weren't happy with how it turned out! I thought it was really cute! But I also get the frustration!
I really love the white underskirt part! I'm currently trying to make a similar white lace sort of thing for a skirt and it's really difficult, so it's neat to see someone else doing that kind of thing so that I can see a little more about the process behind it! I also didn't know that burning ribbon helps with the fraying so that's good to know! This is only loosely related but if you ever get the chance, could you share any cosplay sewing or general cosplay tips, especially any advice that you might have learned recently in the cosplaying scene? A lot of cosplaying videos on TH-cam are from a few years ago and while they're certainly helpful, I'd love to know if there's any new techniques in the community that might not be as well-covered! I understand that's a little vague of a topic and I completely understand if nothing comes to mind or if you don't want to share, but I figured I would ask anyways!
Hmmm I don't really know of any new sewing tricks going around the community. 🤔 Most things I hear about are techniques that have been passed down. But thanks very much for the suggestion! I'll keep an ear open.
That's honestly extremely impressive for having done it in two days! I could never pull something like that together in such a short amount of time. I'm sorry it didn't turn out the way you hoped. Honestly, while I still prefer making my own costumes from scratch, I've lately come to appreciate Amazon with its fairly decent ready-made costumes that can be there in a couple of days. If I know I won't have time to hand-make the costume the way I want, I'd rather have a costume I feel good in, even if that means buying, rather than having to rush a costume that I may not be happy with. That wouldn't fly for a competition of course, but just for having fun and taking photos? Take my money, Jeff Bezos!
I think your custom outfit looks good (it wasn't a bad attempt anyway), but yeah your experience reminds me of failed sewing plushies *oops same energy*
this is the most relatable sewing walkthrough I've ever seen. I also don't know what's happening (sometimes... often) and I hate certain materials and jump between projects 😂 also I didn't have "Anya rapping about cosplay" on my imaginary bingo card for 2024 for here we are 💪✨
I thought making my current cosplay in 3 weeks was pushing it 😂 sorry to hear you didn't like it though, I think it's very cute but I understand what it's like to make something you're not proud of, no amount of compliments can make you like it
Yeah, a lot of people pointed out that it should have been a circle skirt, which makes sense. Had I thought of that, I think I would have been happier with the result. Oh well now I know!
I have that figure, and I wanted to make the costume for myself, but after the Miku I just finished... no. Massively long pigtail wigs are so uncomfortable, and, knowing me, I would want it to have the gradation and the spirals on the bottom, meaning hand dying and no pigtail shields for most of it, meaning tangles. >.< I think my next cosplay is just going to be stretchy. Preferably no wigs or makeup required. Just a massive, human slug. Clearly, I'm still exhausted from my latest con. 😅
I didnt even know miku day was a thing…. And I’m also working on a miku cosplay… in part…. We are just slow at the start 😂 And now you made me realize my other cosplay needs eyelets too. …. I’m new to everything. We got time just learning as we go 😭
First of all that cosplay is adorable and I’ve made my share of unflattering cosplays lol I remember I tried to make a Navi cosplay from legend of Zelda and it turned out terrible I was definitely dollar store/ Wish version of Navi 😅. I also remember when I first started cosplaying I bought a Hinata from Naruto Shipuden cosplay off EBay and not only did it not fit the zipper on the jacket broke and I no idea what to do lol, i also bought her wig off of EBay which not only shed but it tangled so bad I had to cut off half the wig after the convention .
I thought it came out cute, especially the back pack. We are our own worst critics though for sure. Sorry you didn’t like how it came out, but just know that some of us still think you looked good. 😊
Nah I wouldn't day that. Feeling good about how you look is better than feeling incredibly self conscious. If I hadn't cosplayed, I would have at least felt more confident.
Glad it looks OK to you! 🙏🏻 tbh I also have really bad body image and am not used to how I look in cosplays yet, so I think that had a lot to do with it. 🥲
It turned out good! You look cute in it. As a fashion victim who reads to much about what clothes flatter wich bodytype... I think you forgot that the Miku has a very petite small short body, and as an adult it's just not gonna look the same on you. Your body is in good proportion with the torso looking wider then your hips (like the triangle bodyshape) and the way the pink shirt has many folds a lot of fabric and is tucked in, it ends up making you (your torso) look wider than it actually is. And the big puffy sleeves accentuate the width even more. (not talking aboutvweight, just width- wide ness) And the skirt in Miko is a circle skirt with a lot of volume. And your cosplay skirt is more like a pencil skirt (still pretty!!!❤) but combined with the pink to that creates the illusion that the top half of the body (torso, shoulders) are very wide looking. I personally love kneelength skirts (maby cause I like vintage fashion?) but I really think this skirt would look better if the length ended just above your knees. I also think you could try to have the hat and boots look bigger, but again I wanna say it looks cute on you anyway, good job on sewing and heads up! And as a busty girl myself I gotta say thouse kinda shirts don't suit me neither, and I have a pear shape body with wide hips and wide thighs.
Hey man I know you think you're doing her a favor; but straight up this is literally just bullying. In the video Anya states what happened with the cosplay and how it was rushed. There's loads of things that could have been done differently but they're addressed. What you should have done differently is left a comment that said "even though you don't like it I think it's cute!" Instead of a short story about her body based on your supposed fashion knowledge.
Hey, this comment doesn't feel constructive in the tone you are writing for. This feels like you're criticizing how a person is and that is in poor taste. Not cool.
Please for the love of God leave my body out of this. My weight gain literally affects me every single day and the last thing I need is to be constantly reminded that I'm not a size 6 anymore.

Yeah I would have taken more time, but I had 2 out-of-town trips back to back right before the meet-up so 🙃
@@AnyaPanda Totally understand! I think what you put together came out cute, but I understand the regret of a rushed project.
